Oh wise and knowing player base... please answer my question

The short of it, I had a retail account back in the day. I basically had CoH/CoV, but left just before Going Rogue came out. Dual Pistols were in beta if that tells you about the time frame.

Well now I'm back so to speak and I find I can play all my old characters and such for free under this whole "Freedom" thing, but what perplexes me is... What do I not have access to by not paying the subscription fee? I don't think it unlocks any of the power sets I don't have and I know it doesn't unlock any of the costume options I don't have as those are micro transactions.

Is there any benefit to subscribing for me?

no incarnates. possibly no IO's if your not at the top of the reward tree. Those are the biggest ones for crippling characters.

So I'm correct in thinking that I wouldn't gain access to any of the newer power sets by adding a subscription?

Well, if you don't have the Going Rogue expansion you get everything in it for free while you're VIP. That's the side changing stuff, starting as a Praetorian and its included content, some costume options, and the 4 power sets that came with the expansion (Dual Pistols, Demon Summoning, Kinetic Melee and Electric control). You'd also get Time Manipulation and the new Dark sets that came out an issue ago for free while you're a VIP.

Additionally you'd get all the Incarnate (end-game) content and the powers you can get from that, all the Signature Story Arc content, the First Ward missions, and depending on where you are in the Paragon Rewards tree a couple other things are possibly locked out as well.

Negative. There are a few power sets free for VIP. Time Manipulation, Darkness Control/Affinity/Assault are all free for VIP and there's a few others dating back.

Log into the game and open the Paragon Rewards window.

How many tokens does it show that you have? What tiers are totally filled?

That will give us a better idea as to what you might have to purchase access to (MasterMinds and Controllers are unlocked once Tier 5 is filled, Permanent IO access is unlocked once Tier 7 is filled, etc.). If you had already unlocked and created a Kheldian (Warshade or Peacebringer) or a Soldier of Arachnos (Arachnos Widow or Arachnos Spider) you may still be able to access that character. It's supposed to be a paid unlock, but quite a few people that had previously created them could still play them on their Premium (Free former player) accounts and the Devs left that access.

You can find out what is opened at each Tier of the Paragon RewardsProgram at ParagonWiki.

Welcome back.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Thank you all so far for the replies.

In so far as the 'tier' things? Tier 6 is full. I have access to all of the archetypes. I lack access to any power set that came at the same time as or after "Dual Pistols". So things like the two new Mastermind sets, the giant weapons set for tankers, some of the scrapper powers, ect ect.

I believe all power sets that came out after the game went free-to-play have to be purchased by premium players. There were a few that VIP get for free. There are also some costume sets/pieces VIP get for free but premiums have to buy all of them.

http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Account#Overview

For a better list on what VIP get for free and premiums have to pay for go to http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Paragon_Market

On the right side of the page there is 'VIP' in the list next to the approximate real money prices for the items. If there is a 'Y' in the 'VIP' column it means you get it for free. NOTE: the list may not be entirely up to date, but it seems to be. (Power sets are listed about halfway down the page) Unfortunately this page doesn't list costume sets/pieces.

For a list of the purchasable sets and which sets VIP get for free check http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Costum...e_Costume_Sets
NOTE: some "sets" in the Paragon Market don't have a bundle option and the pieces must be purchased individually (some of these VIP get for free). Some sets without a bundle option in the market are: Leather Armor, Resistance, Chainmail, Olympian Gaurd, etc.

On thing to note - if it is free for VIPs, in the Market you'll see it's short description start with "VIP CONTENT :"

If you are VIP then the following are free as well.

He worded it oddly. Those four are free for VIP, and purchase only for Premium.

I can confirm this. I decided to sub for a month and I have access to them and I've never bought any power sets.

Of the purchase-only sets. The ones I like the best are Staff Fighting and Street Justice.

I have Titan Weapons as well, I just haven't found a combo that I like it with yet. (considering a TW/Stone Brute)
