Questions About Summer Blockbuster Event -- Couldn't Find Answers on ParagonWiki

Greetings!

I hope everyone is having a fine weekend. I'm interested in trying to get the Overwhelming Force Set through the Summer Blockbuster Event, and have some questions. Unfortunately, the PW page on this is still somewhat undeveloped.

Some questions:

  1. Obviously, you need a team for the casino heist. Do you need one for the gladiator portion?
  2. Do you have to run them in a specific order? Both consecutively? Or can you run one (e.g.: the heist) at one time and come back later and run the other (e.g.: the gladiator part)?
  3. How do the rewards work? Do you have to run one event to get an Overwhelming Force enhancement? Both? To get them all do you have to run the whole event over and over/trade with others?
  4. About how long does it take to finish the Summer Event once you start?

Thank you for your help.

Part of what you're missing is that both are part of the overall event -- you cannot do just one or the other (so that answers most of your questions). You do whichever one first that is presented to you upon entering the "theater" area (one or the other, randomly).

In my experience, the entire event (both "pieces") runs about 30-45 minutes, depending on the team.

1. Probably? Have done it with less than a full team of 4 when people have dropped or been disconnected. Since you're exemped to level 29 I think you'll probably need to at least duo with someone with a solid build and bonuses and who knows what they're doing. One of you should probably be a debuffer, IMO.

2. The order you do them in is chosen randomly. Sometimes you must do the Gladiator portion first, sometimes the Heist.

3. You have to run both events to get the enhancement, which is chosen randomly. So you can trade with others and/or run it over and over. I've run it 19 times now and have two full sets, 4 parts of a third set, and three of the same enhancement left over.

4. The time varies quite a bit IME based upon who you are teamed with, meaning what ATs, build and level, and player capability. I did one that took most of an hour and I've done some that probably took no more than like 15 minutes.

Yeah, you run them back to back - although it is random which it gives you first.

#1 Yes you do need a team for the Gladiator portion of the event. Unless you think you can solo an archvillain plus 2-3 elite bosses at the same time when depending on your AT and powersets and the fact you are exemplared to level 29, you can get killed in 1 hit.

#4 When your team enters the trial, which part you do first is picked automatically at random. You could end up doing the heist first 3 times in a row, then gladiator a couple times, then heist, then gladiator 4 times, etc.

#3 You can only claim 1 overwhelming force enhancement per character per 20 hours. The reward merits an inspiration can be claimed as many times as you want in a day on a single character, so feasibly you could farm this for merits if you wanted.

#4 Depending on what type of team you end up with, it can take about 25 minutes to 45 minutes. The first time in the heist when you go back to your hideout and face the first AV, she is one tough cookie. It can take as much as 5 or even 10 minutes just to defeat that AV and I was on a team the other day where it was taking so long to beat her, 1 of my team members quit, although I was on my dominator and we had 2 controllers and the 4th I don't remember but it wasn't any kind of melee. Blaster I think.

Edit: Forgot to mention, which overwhelming force piece of the set you receive is random and sometimes you can get the same exact piece on a few characters in a row. As they say: Random is random.

Wrong. The very first time I ran it I was put with a team that had already done the heist portion. I was the 5th man in the gladiator match. I still got the reward table at the end.

If you join the trial with a team that hasn't started it yet, then yes you do have to do both parts to get the reward table. What you are talking about is joining the event already in progress with 1 part complete and you are able to still choose the enhancement reward.

So having to do both parts is technically correct since it was meant to be that way. They probably decided to allow all players to still be able to claim a reward if they joined an in-progress event in the case where players quit the team or disconnect and never return.

Edit: You have to take into consideration that a lot of players, like myself, don't click the option in the LFG window to join in-progress trials. So if you don't choose that option, you DO have to complete both parts of the trial for the reward table to appear. I like the trail and its nice to get as much XP and inf I can as well as I'm working on getting all 10 badges on all characters I can possibly do the trial on at this time.

Not only that, but such requirements on getting the rewards let people who D/C and come back get the rewards table.

I've yet to achieve a score higher than a B on the Casino Heist on any run on any toon I've done it with. What do you get if you score an A?

If you do well enough you get a third AV (you normally get one after the first stage and one after the second). Not sure how well you have to score to get that.

It's Sylvia, then Johnny, and then Ted. I see "Open The Vault!" but we never actually go and do that.

It's not random... it just depends on who on your team clicks on what first, the door to the arena or one of the Heist roles.

I've run this a bunch of times and you can earn 10 badges max on a single run if people know what they're doing. For Heist, there's a "Perfect ____" badge for each role and "Role Player" if you get all four of them. For the Arena, there's four badges, the hardest of which is usually Ninja Monkey. Then there's the badge for completing the event.

No the Thief does that as the last stage in his bit. He can't do it until the Grifter is finished getting the passcode though. I'm no sure why the Open the Vault bit remains visible during the AV fights though.

I've often been the first to zone in - it has always had one or the other listed to do.

"What Rajani says for all my 28 runs so far!"

I got The Heist first up every time on Saturday and Time Gladiator first up every time on Sunday. I assumed the order was rotating daily.

I got time gladiator first than next run it was Heist. A couple of heist than a few gladiator next and each time i was the first in zone there is no such BS like it is choosen depending on where you are heading it is totally random.

Thanks for the clarification there. It was only 3 attempts each day so I never thought it was a big enough sample to say anything with certainty but I thought it was worth mentioning.

As for the second part, I think you're absolutely right. I seem to zone in first every time on my SSD equipped machine and Time Gladiator/Heist is already selected when I do.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. This really clears up all the stuff I was confused about.

A few of other questions that came to mind while reading this thread.

  • What's the average wait time people are seeing in the LFG tab when they ask to join the event? I've read that for some events you can be waiting quite a long time.
  • This is the first time I've been around for an event like this, so I'm not sure how the special enhancement sets work. Once the event is over, are they ever available in the store?
  • How do people trade enhancements between themselves, usually? How many people use Wentworth's to try to get the OF enhancments they're missing?

I ask because I'm not sure how many times I'll be able to run the event, and would like to get at least one full set.

1-5 minutes on Freedom and Virtue.

Event-Os are kinda new. Only other set is Winter's Gift, and that one has been around a while - we just re-gain access to new ones when the event comes around again. This will probably be the same.

You can right click on someone and one of the options is trade - brings up a window.

you can also drag and drop trade items over someone to gift them (assuming they have room, otherwise it fails and you keep the goods)

One note about doing it this way -- in a crowded area, I don't recommend this method. Instead, select the person you want to give the item to, then right-click to select the item you wish to trade and choose "Give to XXXXXX". Doing it that way will make sure that it only goes to the desired toon.

To answer that last one: Yes, many people use Wentworth's to get IO pieces they are missing. There are folks right now stockpiling them, with intent to sell them gradually after the event is over. Check the Market Forums for more info, and trading advice.

At the moment, the Movie Event enhancement set cannot be traded on Wentworth's. That is a bug; expect a patch soon to fix it.

http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Summer_B...2#Event_Badges

There are 4 badges, 1 for each role in the heist. Perfect grifter, hitter, thief, and hacker. Once you have all 4 of these badges you get an accolade called Roleplayer. When you get the accolade you are granted 5 reward merits.

You can go check each badge on the wiki and it explains how to do each role to get a perfect score.

Also note (as I think has been mentioned above) that you do not have to actually PERFORM each of these roles to get the applicable "Perfect..." badge -- in fact, if all 4 teammates perform each role appropriately, everyone is awarded all 4 badges, so it's relatively easy to get all 10 event badges in a single run.

Aye. I just ran it for the first time. I ... didn't quite know what I was doing at first, and bungled the Hacker role a bit (I was seen). Fortunately, everyone was really nice about it and understood that it was my first time through. We all still got the other 3 perfect badges.

We had at least one team-member who was really good at keeping everyone buffed/debuffed appropriately, so I actually thought the arena was the easier part.

Got the Knockdown OF Enhancement. I also got a full 10 other SO enhancements, which I didn't realize would happen. That was pretty awesome.
