Catalysts - worth saving?
The ATO's are awfully cheap to be using catalysts on. I've only slotted full sets on 3 or 4 different AT's so far, but don't recall any pieces being over 20 million. (To be fair, I bought a lot of super packs so about half my ATO's were not bought from the consignment house.)
I use the catalysts when I get a purple or PvP recipe that isn't worth a ton.

Are you talking about Catalysts or Converters Ironblade?
Catalysts are the rare drops in Incarnate Content that transform an ATO into it's Purple form. You can't use them on anything else.
And to the OP, if you're waiting for non-ATO sets you're probably going to be waiting a while. They've already confirmed a new round of super packs with a 2nd set of ATOs coming.
Thought catalyst could only be used on atos as of now

there are new ATIOs coming out they were on test already. Expect them soon. They were supposed to be in this issue but there was a bug i read in the conversion of them for some reason they were not put out. But they exist.
So save them at least for that.

To the OP - if you pull catalysts from mobs you might as well use them if you can Catalyze an entire set - if the character has no use for them (my Dominator needs two in total - one for each proc) then you can always convert them after upgrading and unslotting, but you don't HAVE to do so.
Also Ironblade - the Brute ATO set is going for upwards of 80 million a piece.
Deamus the Fallen - 50 DM/EA Brute - Lib
Dragos Bahtiam - 50 Fire/Ice Blaster - Lib

So it is undergoing some swings.
Blue
American Steele: 50 BS/Inv
Nightfall: 50 DDD
Sable Slayer: 50 DM/Rgn
Fortune's Shadow: 50 Dark/Psi
WinterStrike: 47 Ice/Dev
Quantum Well: 43 Inv/EM
Twilit Destiny: 43 MA/DA
Red
Shadowslip: 50 DDC
Final Rest: 50 MA/Rgn
Abyssal Frost: 50 Ice/Dark
Golden Ember: 50 SM/FA
Wrong. On pretty much every level. 2nd Gen ATOs were discovered due to a BUG on i23 Beta - and said bug was fixed, so you can't even get them that way. They were NEVER. Intended. To be in this issue, no matter how many of you people hoped so. The 2nd Gen ATOs are going to be in the next set of Super Packs which are slated for Late July, Early August as a BEST CASE SCENARIO.

And even if i was wrong about them coming out in this issue apparantly they are already around and in the game somewhere. Even if now they are locked maybe you can convert them, maybe you cant, maybe you can catalyze them, maybe you cant who knows. But ill keep mine anyways incase.
If I recall, you can't delete catalysts. It doesn't even give you the option.
But yeah, basically decide if you'd rather use your catalysts on the current set of ATOs, or the next set. Or if you earn a lot of catalysts, do whatever with the ones you have now and earn more when the next ATOs arrive.
@Roderick
Please don't do this without first checking your set bonuses, particularly +Recharge. Uncatalyzed ATOs with a Recharge bonus give 8.75% - a unique bonus. Purple ATOs give 10% Recharge, the same as regular purples. This means that going from 5 purple sets + an ATO set to 5 purple sets + a purple ATO set will drop you from 58.75% to 50% global Recharge, because in the latter case, you will have exceeded the Rule of Five.

If you split the Brute/Stalker/Scrapper set into 2 sets of 3 for Smashing/Lethal defense, however, go ahead and Catalyze them.

Hold the phone -- my understanding was that the catalyzed ATOs that give 10% bonus have a different bonus name than the purple 10% recharges..thus making it possible to slot them without rule of 5 being an issue.
Now, I could be wrong, I certainly have been wrong before, but I know I've seen it mentioned somewhere.

Nope. They are both named 'ultimate' so they stick to the five rule. Mind you some catalyzed ATO's have 'ultimate' bonuses not found in other purples, (like the 'ultimate' defense bonuses) but the more 'common' values like +damage, +recharge will often bang up against other purples and get over-ruled.

my lil RWZ Challenge vid
Pretty much since the Brute ATO's appeared I have been buying them for 35-45 million and selling them for 100+ million. So yes, patience is your friend, and the impatient bankroll me. ^_^

No one ever said that flipping wasn't possible or profitable.
Well.... maybe some stupid/clueless post I don't recall might have said that....
But no one with a working brain.

Actually I read too much of that other thread that strayed into this topic.
Not even close.

Of course I agree with MnV as well as the other posters saying thats bunk, since I'm able to successfully do it as well.
But dont tell nethergoat that you can successfully flip -->, he'll make a personal attack at you, then put you on ignore because you had the nerve to disagree, lol.
I lurk a lot
I'm debating whether I should save my catalysts for future expansion to non-ATO origin sets or just burn them all on the current ATOs. Thoughts?
