Widows and the Hybrid Slot
There seems to be a lack of good info / opinions on the current state of Hybrid. It appeared that there was a lot of testing early on and then when they made the final changes on Test, not a lot of comments. Except Johnny Butane banging the drum on how double-hit is still broken for Tankers, and was designed to exclude KO Blow / Crushing Uppercut (>20 sec recharge). Other than that, I haven't been able to find a lot of info/opinions on the current Hybrid across all trees. Sad.
On the Defiant event channel most people where sure this was the right info for the current state of the Hybrid Abilities: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Hybrid_Slot_Abilities

Melee Fort: Melee Resists. I've got offense, defense, and control. I need resists or HP.
Crab: Melee Defense (9x1.5) or Support Defense (12) for ~iCap
Huntsman: Melee Resists most likely, or maybe Melee Defense or Support Defense.
Fortunata - Melee: Core Embodiment
I disagree with the thing about crabs :P
Crab's can make use of any of the hybrids really, but for me, with all our AoE, control really stands out as adding some extra power to our already extensive toolkit.
I'm going to be going control, assualt, melee, support in that order and getting them all.
Crabs are pretty well rounded to be in sync with any choice. Mine is definitely looking at Control, Assault and Support.
My Fortunata/Night Widow... not sure yet.
Apparently, I play "City of Shakespeare"

I was thinking the same thing actually. I was just wondering for each of those about whether or not you're going core or radial with which ones. I think having each will be nice for different trials to meet the needs required.
Virtue H&V: CatSquid of Justice-Lvl 37 TriForm PB, Tundra Tigress-Lvl 50 Claws/SR Scrapper, Mistress Khaos-Lvl 50 Dark/Fire Brute, D'Vine Death-Lvl 50 Plant/Thorn Dom, Phrozen Purrgatory-Lvl 50 Ice/Cold Corr, Prowling Pantheress-Lvl 50 Claws/Nin Stalker, Robo Mynx 3.0-Lvl 50 Bots/Traps MM, ArachniBlast-Lvl 50+3 Perma Hasten/Perma Pets/High Recharge Crabspider, Devil's Wrath-Lvl 50 Bane Spider. SG: The 912 Project, VG: Progressively Evil.
Given so much of crab damage comes from leveraging pets, wouldn't adding the +def Hybrid that doubles for pets be the best call (assuming all else is equal) -- increasing their survivability pushing them towards soft-cap? Or does the Hybrid assault also work on your pets?
With I23 coming out in a few hours, what is everybody gonna slot into their hybrid slot?
I'm in doubt between Assault (and there between Core and Radial) for it's obvious benefit of more damage, and Melee Core for extra survivability in the form of regen and resists. So, any opinions? |
Then ran a quick pylon run and clocked 2:26 for around 390 DPS, or about 43 DPS better than my previous best attempt. In a few weeks I'll unlock the other tree and compare the two.
EDIT: this is on a night widow.
I was thinking of going Assault or Control on my fortunata/widow. Does the Mez from the control stack? I was wondering if I hit someone with 4 attacks, does this cause a mag 4 hold? Is the double damage like a crit from the assault set?

If you're running doubles on your leadership toggles; its a good add... its also a decent replacement if you'd rather drop out of the regular Leadership Pool.
[and you get the passive Endurance discount]

So many nice options...
Widow => Assault:Core Emb (sustained +DMG)
Melee Fort => Control: Core Emb (+1 Mez and +DMG procs) and Radial Emb (100% stun if immob'd)
Ranged Fort => Assault: Radial Emb (double-hit)
Huntswoman (w/ double pets) => Support: Core Emb (2x buffs for pets)
Melee/-RES Cone Crab => Assault: Radial Emb (double-hit)
Repeat Offenders
Well, I immediately crossed out Control because I didn't want it.
Didn't need melee because my defense is already WAY above the cap.
didn't need support because I'm already a walking force field.
So...naturally, I went with assault, to pick up that I didn't do so much damage.
I went to the core path, first...but I actually didn't see too much of a significant boost, I guess...because I'm more of a medium damage dealer, the boost didn't show much for me.
So today I went to the Radial side of assault. and It's incredible, the proc goes off so often, and things drop like flies because it's like I'm using 2 attacks at once, plus the DoTs. Just...amazing. Used my dark obliteration, set off the assault proc and the proc from positron's blast, for triple hit. delicious.
