Dimension Shift....
Yeah, it works. Used it to save the team from multiple missile-spewing Titans when we entered a mish and got a massive ambush right then and there. Beat down the stuff in melee, then waltz out and work over the rest.

It's still one of the most annoying powers in the game though.
I've nova'd right as a grav teammate dimensioned shifted "most" of the spawn. I wound up nuking 3 mobs and still had the end crash for my troubles.
When you cast a rain power on the mobs the pseudo pet shares your state, so if you were outside when you cast it, and your teammate dimension shifts all the damage (and secondary effects) of your pseudo pets goes to waste until you move into the phased area (which if you are a built for range squishy you may not want to do).
All in all (in my book) dimension shift went from being a "0 of 10 stars" power to a "2 of 10 stars" power. It's still a skip power for me and I still leave teams that have grav players unless I know their play style or have teamed with them frequently in the past.

Ouch! Yeh i imagine there are a few people out there who havent quite grasped the correct time in which to use it - myself included.
I think its almost too much of a situational power really. Its not like you can single out a specific enemy and phase him for a period while dealing with the underlings. Perhaps it would be more useful on the incarnate trials.
If you have the space to take it then take it, but there will always be something better.
I still leave teams that have grav players unless I know their play style or have teamed with them frequently in the past.

I have this power on my Gravity/Dark Controller and I'm still experimenting with it. Where I've found some use for it is on Lambda trials during the temp collection phase. If I'm running down a congested hallway or there are a lot of adds following the team I'll throw it down behind me. Since no one fights those mobs anyways it's not disruptive to anyone's attacks. It's also fairly useful if you're stealthing for glowies and there happens to be a group nearby. I'm sure there are more uses for it that I've yet to master. The fact that I need to think about how I use it is partially why I took it.

I won't go into that particular missions details again lets just say that I won't stay on a team with a grav player that I don't know unless he/she has at least 4 years of CoX experience and even then its a first 5 minutes type thing.
To date I've never teamed with a "good" grav player and the recent "update" to grav means that there are lots more "bad" grav players out there. To save myself the hassle I just don't team with them.

D.S. is just one of those powers that people react badly too. Even when used prudently. It doesn't matter if the caster used it to stop a complete team wipe. Or if he/she stopped a particularly nasty ambush... most of the team freaks out "ZOMG u stopped me from hitting enemies.... noooooes...".

I honestly don't see much of a use for it in a team about to wipe situation. The only uses for it that I see are:
(1) Solo if for some reason you couldn't be bothered to spend 5 mins getting the Warburg phase power instead and save a power slot.
(2) Slotting purposes. Gravitational anchor and enfeebled operation both have solid set bonuses.

(3) In a team situation which is not a team about to wipe situation where you clearly say ahead of time exactly when and where you are going to use it and everyone is on the same page as you. There would probably be a better way of solving whatever issue you are trying to have it solve, but at least then everyone would know.
I think quitting a team with someone playing a grav character before they have even done anything is rather premature. I would agree though that dimension shift went from about 0/10 to about 2/10. I see its main use as letting you slot grav anchor for another purple or enfeebled operation for 4.06 s/l def and a little recharge.

Yep. I usually check vet badges first though. Far far far too many bad experiences with bad grav players. I once was on a 3 hour PUG ITF (I was helping a newbie I was trying to mentor) that featured a grav/FF controller. If we had kicked him we'd have been done in an hour.
I won't go into that particular missions details again lets just say that I won't stay on a team with a grav player that I don't know unless he/she has at least 4 years of CoX experience and even then its a first 5 minutes type thing. He single handedly flung everything except the squid nicti off the temple platform in the first mission of the ITF. We literally had to clear the entire map to find all the romans that were in the spawn guarding Sister Solaris. The TF went downhill after that.

Yep. In fact the Grav/FF previously mentioned was a 5 year vet that had PL'd his Grav toon. He thought he was supposed to Dimension Shift every thing and then anything he missed was supposed to be Detention Fielded. He ran Force Bubble constantly so any melee focused toons couldn't benefit from Dispersion Bubble and he made sure that he pushed stuff off of all the debuff patches. He was really fond of Worm Holing stuff all over the map because he was "saving" everyone.

If I had to avoid every team with a certain AT/powerset which at one point caused the rest of my team trouble, I'd be forced to solo.
You don't have to worry about how I use Dimension Shift because I'm constantly Team Teleporting everyone around to where they should be so, therefore, you won't run into it.

I've never seen an Amazing grav anything. Even the "best" ones are mediocre and anything not the best usually griefs the team even though it may be accidental. I think its baked into the power set to be honest.

i have it on my grav troller and i have to say i get more use out of it in solo situations than team situations, i usually dont need to use it in teams unless i really want to block off a doorway or something
i basically have it with the default enhance slot with end reduction and use it only in emergencies like when most of the team is dead except me so i can pop insp and rez what i can before it runs out, its definitely not a throwaway power like it was before, but its still pretty situational
I've run into a few players using it on teams recently. It's mostly annoying. Had a couple of my AoEs fizzle. What I'm unsure of is whether it also prevents teammates from healing/buffing each other across the barrier. Gravity still needs more but I actually took this power. I only use it to save my own @$$. For example...there's a team wipe and I see the mob turn the corner and then run in my direction I lay down DS and run like the wind.
Another example is if we are all being ported by a toon who's rezzing us after a wipe I will throw down DS in front of us just in case a boss follows us back.
It's still situational though.
Ok so im not entirely sure if this is me being stupid or what, but could Dimension shift be used defensively?
- Toggle, Ranged (Location AoE), Foe Intangible
Location-targeted AoE toggle. This power folds space in an area, immobilizing and phasing all targets within the sphere. Enemies who enter the area become immobilized and phased for the duration of the effect. Allies who enter the sphere's area of effect will enter the phase as well, allowing them to combat phased enemies. Detoggling this power ends the effect, bringing the phased creatures back into the physical world. Maintaining this dimensional distortion is taxing on the user, and cannot be done for more than 20 seconds. Recharge: Slow -
basically it creates an area in which anything that enters it becomes phased and those outside the field cannot effect those within, unless they themselves enter then it becomes a free-for-all.
SO say for example your team was fighting a GM or AV and some people were near death could they be phased out with Dimesion Shift and then heal within the field while the others occupy the GM/AV??
If this is correct and its not just me being stupid it will still be a very situational power but it could be a life saver.
