Surprise Server Downtime

Well, at least, a surprise to me. No notice on the News and Announcements forum, website News page, or even the Facebook page.

Anyone have any info regarding the current downtime, and how long it might be down for? Was anyone else surprised, or did I just miss an announcement somewhere?

PS: NCSoft: if this isn't some completely unforeseen server melt, please give us a bit of warning!

Tuesday=Market day=Downtime.

The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.

My guess is that it's that patch that has been on test being published to live.

But I didn't see an announcement for it either, so it isn't just you.

Yeah, but most times the market update hasn't required the servers go down.

Hmm, is this then going to be in addition to the regular Thursday downtime?
What are the usual market downtime hours, and are they actually written down somewhere?

It'll usually be about two hours hopefully but possibly four.

Fair enough. Do you know when they went down?

A little over an hour ago.

And there was a 30-minute warning in-game; they said it was for "maintenance," but didn't give a time window.

FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.

It's Issue 23. It's been in beta for a week, ample time to get everything right *sagenod*

They might have only made the call for the patch that's been on the Test server since last week to go live like 12 or 24 hours ago. No real time to make a super-formal announcement about it. It's not really a major patch, and since Tuesdays and Thursdays are the "traditional" days for patches/maintenance anyway I almost see no real need to "inform" us about it any more than they already did. I've never really understood why downtimes like this surprise/shock anyone anymore. *shrugs*

Its just kinda hard to organise anything a good hour or so before because never know if this week there will be downtime or not

@Damz Find me on the global channel Union Chat. One of the best "chat channels" ingame!

Everything is at "unknown" for me. So it'll likely be up within the next 10 minutes.

Or maybe a new random hat at least. IIRC, the pilgrim hat was one of the few items that never made it to test before going live in the store.

Probably a seeded market items patch. They add in a few things so that they don't have to patch later in order to have you unlock them. May also be those fixes from Test - powers don't toggle off if you're logged out for more than 15 minutes.

What month of the day it is?

I'm actually suggesting the reverse. It's far easier to pre-assume that Tuesdays and Thursdays are going to be "possible" maintenance days (since those are the usual days for that to happen) so you might as well plan to -not- do anything during those times that requires any scheduling or large periods of time like that. That way these things will never catch you off guard. *shrugs*
