The reason I said newchemicals was to point out that you asked his driver version and date... It says all that already in the log above. I didn't understand why you asked if the exact version and exact date are already there.

Are you using the Windows Basic/Aero Theme or have you changed it?
My Alienware came with a different theme on it that caused the same issue on my laptop. I switch to Aero and now it has been working fine.
Also, newchemicals, the video card and driver version are in the log files that were posted above, hence why most people ask for people to post them when they have an issue. -

Before Freedom I bought just about every pack they came out with. The only ones I didn't buy was Steampunk, and the Wedding Pack. I have been VIP since Freedom and have purchased all of the new powersets except Beast Mastery and Staff.
Why do I still have the option in the Market to "Buy Now" on almost everything I already have. I can buy Masterminds, I can buy Street Justice even though I already have it, itÂ’s really irritating. I wish there was a way to filter everything you already have on your account, or a "collection" tab like they did with the Super Packs.
Is this a known problem? Because I was really close to buying the Origins bundle the other day because I forgot about the Facemaker Surgeon and I couldn't change my characters from Male to Female, and it would have let me... -

FYI, the contact list will load all contacts' character models the first time a tab is opened, in order to generate the picture in the list.
That causes noticeable graphical stutter even on powerful computers.
If your computer is old, and not very powerful, then it will have more trouble with the contact portraits.
(Edit: Also CoH uses the CPU much more than other games for everything. Your CPU matters for graphics performance.)
You have 2 options:
1) Lower your settings.
2) Upgrade your computer.

It may be that your old computer is no longer good enough for CoH after all the inefficient additions they made tot he game on top of the old inefficient stuff.
He obviously wasn't having the issue before, and nothing graphically has changed recently to make a contacts window make CoH unplayable. It is obviously a bug that is specific to some hardware on his PC.
Like I posted above, I had the same issue on a brand new Alienware Laptop... Did I need to Buy a new PC? No.
He is running a GTX 275, which is a pretty damn good card, its old, but a good card. We can assume he is a running with a CPU from a similar generation, maybe a Core2Duo or something similar. As newchemicals posted, a CoH Helper file may be of use to to double check.
Its most likely some program or something he has done to Windows itself that is just not playing nice, like I mentioned, for me it was my theme overlay.
Korgat, Your video card isn't the only info we would need to help, T_Immortalus does have a point, CPU plays a big factor as well. We'll need more details: CPU Type, Windows version, RAM possibly, Anti-virus software type, etc.
Also, have you done anything unusual to Windows? -
I had this happen for the longest time I couldn't log into my main and only joined teams so I never had to use contacts. Its a very weird thing, I found that the problem was my Windows "theme".
I was using the Alienware "Breed" theme, to change Windows default pictures, start menu, etc.
When I went back to regular Windows Aero, I could talk to contacts.

I am just excited...
My solo SG "compos sui" on Virtue (blue) finally placed the Dimensional Vortex next to my Ley Tap yesterday, took quite a while to get the 5M prestige, so this feels like quite an accomplishment for me. Now I have 30k Energy to waste
Next on my list is the Autonomous Expert System Plans Badge, so I can get the Mystic Orrery, just because I need another goal
Unfortunately, I am not any good with stacking and all that cool stuff some of you guys can do, so my base is very much 'simple' in terms of what I have seen on this forum. Its mostly dark with torches lighting the way. All the utilities are maxxed, 7 IO tables, 5 Salvage racks, a Vault, and a few Insp storage. All the TP beacons, a single medbay, and I can start a CoP if I feel so inclined...
Again, I was just a little excited to get something I had been working for, so I thought I would share

Ok, so I stand corrected.
I am not such a numbers guy as some, so I didn't really look into the exact percentages. I also boost the lower tier IOs (Eradication, Kinetic Combat, etc)
I do not exempt much, I have a variety of toons at different levels, so if friends are playing at level 25 or something, I will log into a toon around that level or lower... I see no point in focusing on one specific toon so much that I need to exempt, so I do not make builds for exempting. I maximize their numbers at level 50, so for Incarnate content they perform to the best of their ability.
I really only meant that I only use Boosters on toons that I feel are complete (i.e level 50), therefore I will not need to be changing any IOs. -
Yup, 'wasd' are what my binds are attached to. I use Dual Blades, so +Rech isn't an issue, I never run out of cones or AoEs. Never run out of end, rarely even get hit with anything, so I never need Healing Flames.
I wouldn't have my build any other way. I love it, it works great. -
To each is own... My build suite's my needs fine, but I also don't run SS.
I hate the rage crash.
I run a macro that auto combines all insp into reds and eats them, my farmer stays at the Brute damage cap without rage, and no crash.
And I also have 42% Fire defense.
Like I said, I am not knocking SS/Fire/Mu, its a perfectly good farmer. To each is own. -
Focus on sets with Fire defense, especially Scirocco's Dervish and Aegis. They are usually fairly cheap. After that look for +recharge for Rage, it's going to be important. You want to keep rage up as often as possible and eat as many reds as possible. As for attacks, Foot Stomp, Burn, and the AoE from your epic power pool... over and over and over.
Find a farm with enemies that only do fire damage. Some advertise as fire only, but they have attacks will have some lethal and smashing (from Fire Sword, Etc). If you notice you are dying a lot, check your combat chat tab for the types of damage you are getting hit by.
A lot of people like Mu as an Epic set, or Patron, but its really up to you. If you don't wanna waste the time going redside to get your patron grab Fire-ball and be done with it. One bonus to the Fire Mastery epic is that both the pre-req for fireball can be 3 slotted and there is an IO set that gives like 1.25% fire defense... its a lower level one, I think level 30 or so. Its a cheap 3% fire defense. -
converters yes, but only with reward merits.

My Stalker is in my Hero side SG, is Vigilante, and still earns prestige in Grandville. So until I go all the way to the dark side, I still earn prestige.

I have the same set-up, a solo hero SG, and one of my Stalkers is currently Vigilante and still earning prestige. Just thought I would point it out, since it hadn't been specified. Apparently 'shades of grey' still earn prestige.

He is 50+3, Incarnate powers slotted with Musculature, Vorpal, Reactive, Ageless, and Storm Elementals.
All Auto type Accolades are obviously still there, so you can enable those as well.

Updating the driver may be your issue. Depending on your computer, you may have installed a driver that is not compatible with your make/model of computer. Take, for instance, my laptop (sig). It is an Alienware, therefore, I can only run official Alienware drivers from Dell.
I could disable my hybrid graphics and then update to new shiny Nvidia drivers, but I lose the features that come with the official drivers. If you are running a laptop that uses specific drivers, you may need to go directly to your manufacture, not Nvidia, for drivers.
I am still running the original 196.xx Nvidia drivers that Dell originally released and am not having any issues with CoH.
(I still get the pop-up saying my drivers are out of date, but the game runs great regardless.) -
