Side-switching and prestige

So, I recently made a solo SG and put all my hero characters in it. I've also got a new character who will be out of Praetoria soon, and I'm planning for him to be a villain, but thinking maybe I'll send him blueside first so he can join the SG and earn prestige (plus that nifty 100k Praetorian bonus). I know he'll lose base access when he becomes a villain, but can he still play in supergroup mode and earn prestige? I assume so, and Paragonwiki doesn't explicitly say otherwise that I could find, but I wanted to check before I do an extra 4 days of tips because of it.

No, once they become a villain, they can't enter SG Mode to earn prestige for a hero SG.

However, they CAN buy prestige for the SG.

It's not how many times you get knocked down that count. It's how many times you get up.

Which is a bit weird all things considered - you'd think both of these things would work the same way one way or the other. *shrugs*

Hm, OK, thanks for the info. I think I'll just go straight to red, then; I can mail myself the inf if I want to spend it on prestige.

If you notice, your entire SG menu turns red/purple when side switching to indicate that you nolonger have access/effect on the SG/VG.

I've never side-switched while in an SG, mostly because I've only rarely and briefly been in an SG at all, so I wouldn't know but it's good information, thanks.

I did that not too long ago. Switched a hero to rogue then villain so I could get the patron power pools unlocked for him, then switched back to hero. When you are rogue or villain while in a hero super group, you can't be in SG mode to earn prestige, or even enter the SG base. But the nice thing is you don't lose any prestige you accumulated before you switched, it just freezes. If you switch back you can reenter SG mode and continue to gain prestige.

Note: While being a rogue or villain in a hero super group, your character name turns red in the SG window. Everyone else shows up as blue text still.

I have the same set-up, a solo hero SG, and one of my Stalkers is currently Vigilante and still earning prestige. Just thought I would point it out, since it hadn't been specified. Apparently 'shades of grey' still earn prestige.

Vigilantes are still Heroes. Rogues are still Villains. Even though a Rogue is a 'shade of grey', it still won't earn Prestige for a Hero SG, nor will a Vigilante do so for a Villain SG.

A follow-up question on this that may or may not be relevant.

On a Vigilante that is in an SG will it earn Prestige in Hero and Co-Op zones only or in any zone?

Similarly, on a Rogue that is in an SG will it earn Prestige in Villain and Co-Op zones only or in any zone?

Basically trying to find out what limitations, if any, there are for the fence-straddlers for earning Prestige.

Not that I plan to switch any of my characters, but the information is always good to know in case it comes up in the future.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Black Pebble is my new hero.

I'd put em in the SG for that nice Praetoria bonus before you take them redside, unless you plan on coming back to blue at some point.

My Stalker is in my Hero side SG, is Vigilante, and still earns prestige in Grandville. So until I go all the way to the dark side, I still earn prestige.

For all intents/purposes (as it relates to bases), a rogue is a villain and a vigilante is a hero. There is no difference. Assuming you can earn prestige at all, no matter where that character is, it'll earn prestige.

Good to know, thanks for the information.
