so, me and my gf have never really messed with MMs very much. shes a beast mastery / time manp. i hear that the beast are squishy and since time manp only has some regen / heal powers, a toon to team with would probably be a buffer of some type (that gave shields) therm is out of the question because she dontt like the shiields animations on her toons. any idea what AT is usually teamed with a MM? i dont wana roll a MM really and was thinkin maybe a /shields for the grant cover toggle and gettin manuvers to help buff her pets. i have a earth / ff troller now but ehhh, /ff is boring, ive always prefered debuffs than buffs because theyre more i dont know, involved feeling. any ideas?

Time has a decent heal and a great PBAoE def buff that isn't ugly like the shields, can easily be made perma, and gets even greater with PBU or something similar. It also has enough debuff and control options to keep the pets quite safe (and increase their damage). Time will also considerably increase Recharge for the team (but not the pets) and thus damage.

So I think the pets and team needs are well covered already, Beasts/Time is providing damage, defensive and offensive buffs, debuffs and control.

This probably isn't the answer you want, but it looks like you can play whatever you like...

Since Time already gives you so much defense, I'd consider a resist-based character instead of a mostly defensive one like Shield, and then throw in some AoE, too, because more AoE is always good. You mentioned Shields, so I guess you would like a melee character. Why not go with a Fire Armor Brute or Tanker instead? The resists and heal on top of Time's mitigation should be great, and with Fiery Embrace, Burn, the Damage Aura, the pet damage and the debuffs, things should melt fast enough to make most scenarios pretty safe, especially with someone tough that can hold agro...

I'd suggest a resist-based buffer/debuffer instead, like a sonic or thermal corr, but if the visual of the shields are a problem, that's less of an option...

Defender.

Strongest buffs, and if you're only a duo you're still pulling a damage bonus from their passive. Since you'll want to be shooting things and contributing DPS I would take a less-busy set.

Sonic is probably a better fit for duo with melee pets and heals, but I would not rule out FF because Personal Force Field will let you run in and take an alpha strike which is a huge net gain in healing and micromanagement vs the MM dealing with it every time you approach a group of enemies.

Specifically at low levels, I duo'd with my friend's beast/time (farsight is wonderful). A Dark/dark controller with the dark debuffs (-damage, -tohit, added slows) plus shadow fall and FADE are an incredible if not obvious fit with the beasts and the FORTIFY power. Plus, you will get haunt, umbra beast, and dark servant for your own darkity minions

Something /Sonic would be good (any of the control sets with a melee pet would be a good fit for soloing). Sonic's debuff aura would be great for putting on one of the Beast pets.

A beast/time MM would already be covered on basically all the bases. Beasts have good resist and def, Time gives more def and a reliable heal, as well as plenty of mitigation and a good def/res debuff. Also to tohit debuff aura.

So you can safely pick whatever you want and be fine.

Just from a different angle. A toon that benefits from high recharge could be very useful here. So something like ill/rad or fire/rad. Building around am and chronoshift should make it pretty easy to perma both and be easily within perma pa range. Not counting the nice debuffs.

Kinetics. I love speed boosted pets, they seem to move as fast as players. The recharge boost will help /Time through the lower levels, until fully IO'd. Don't forget the other powers like Transfusion, Siphon Power, Transference, Fulcrum Shift etc.

Go Corruptor and pair Kinetics with Sonic Attacks. The damage resist debuff is nice and any KB will not be much problem with pumped up pets.

I really hope devs give Kinetics to MM's someday.

I hope they give Cold and Rad too.

Another MM.

MM is one of the few ATs that can really duo well with any AT IMO.

Looking at your combo Beast/Time, a resistance based set should compliment well, like /sonic or /thermal or even /pain.

I actually really like teaming with SoA because their team defense benefits my pets a lot. You don't need to ask them to buff my pets. They just run the leaderships and you follow them.

Tanker is a good choice too because you can buff the Tanker and have him handle all the aggro. Your Beast's squishy problem is reduced to half.

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

But less likely to pull adds chasing a runner. Always a plus.

Honestly, MM's are unique in that they can fulfill any role decently well. They can tank as a tankermind or with their pets, they have defender secondaries for decent healing, many secondaries have good crowd control, and their pets to good damage. If you want to help with their squishiness while contributing to damage, a Dual Pistols/sonic Corruptor would probably do well. Use Chemical Rounds to reduce the enemies damage while your secondary buffs her pets resistance and debuffs your enemies.

Ice/dark corruptor. You can stack slow/resist debuff patches with her freezing rain. Your shadow fall and her steamy mist stack. You have healing and -regen and -tohitbuff. You will dramatically help the team survive. Also, youll have a blast set to zap stuff with, which is always fun.

Beast/Time, not Beast/Storm.

As others have said, the options are pretty much all open to you.

My initial thoughts were two different paths:

A Corrupter of some sort (maybe /Rad for the debuffs you love so much) for some additional support with a nice amount of damage. I could see going anything/Rad or Dark/Dark or Fire/Dark or truly any combination that you find interesting. Maybe it'll help you decide by trying to match your character's concept/theme somewhat to your girlfriend's (even if that's not a big element to your playing, it can still help make fun combos).

The other thought I had was a Tank (or, hey, even a Brute).
With your own survivability plus the MM's support, you can handle all or most of the aggro and help keep your GF's pets alive, while they happily chomp and chew at her command.

Either could be a lot of fun.
Think about if you would enjoy or hate being in the thick of melee with all of her pets.
Some may hate that... others may not mind one bit. That is the only thing that jumped out at me as a possible problem duo-ing with an MM.

Best of luck!

I find that nothing goes better with Time than another Time, at least if you're dililgent about keeping Temporal Selection on each other. If you make a Fire/Time Corruptor, your main problem will be the boredom of everything being too easy.

After playing a MM again for the first time since I came back, I have decided I would like most to duo with kinetics, simply because of the knockback resist buff. The rest is gravy. I just hate seeing my dps go to zero when something knocks them all down, and I hate that they won't take inspirations while knocked down.
