Beast Mastery power set ad
umm.....what AT did you plan on trying to use a powerset with more than 5 pets on if it wasn't mastermind??

10 50's To Date! Check out Titan Sentinel; it got my CoH presence synced online

I can see where it might be confusing, especially with all the other "pet" powers (which are usable by all archetypes) that have come out lately. It does say that it's a "power set" rather than a "power", but that's a fine distinction that not everyone will automatically understand. Specifying "a new power set for Masterminds" would be better.

Another idea would be to re-jigger the permissions to allow any pet class you paid for to be played.
Buy a Beast Mastery, play it.
Want to play the legacy mastermind sets as premium? Buy the "Mastermind license" for those.

ONLY when you get IN the game ad go to the Paragon Market and select Beast Mastery power set and read its detailed description, does one finally discover this is for Mastermind characters only... who already have pets...
if i had paid real money to but paragon points to buy this and only then discovered i couldn't use the power set with the character i bought it for, i would not be a happy camper... |
I think you're confusing powersets (like Beast Mastery, and those I listed above) with inherent powers (like the Flying Disc, and Beast Run, and so on).
@Roderick
Well, to be fair, an illusion controller can have 6 pets. Three 'types' of pets, but 6 out at once. I can see how someone might be misled.
|
I think Rod's right and the OP is confusing Beast Mastery with individual inherent powers like Beast Run, Coyote travel power, etc. And the email in question clearly says that Beast Mastery is a Power SET not an individual power.
It's an honest mistake. We all misread things from time to time.
I'm still angry that Masterminds got Robotics.

Umm Power sets always are for new characters and can't be used on existing characters. What exactly were you thinking this was? It is a power set not a power.

You admit that you know that it's a "Power set". You do realize a "power set" is something you have to create a new character to use, right? Did the e-mail really say "Now your Fire Blaster can summon pets!"? No. It probably said something like "You (as in, the player) can now unleash the power of wild beasts with the new Beast Mastery Power Set!" And we all KNOW that "Power Sets" are things like Fie Blast, Energy Melee, Gravity control... Power SETS.

if i had paid real money |
Wasn't there another thread like this one about time manipulation and the person wanted it on an already existing character that got upset when he was told he had to make a new character to use it.

if i had paid real money to but paragon points to buy this and only then discovered i couldn't use the power set with the character i bought it for, i would not be a happy camper... sure... i should always read the description in the market in its fullest before buying... but if buying from the Paragon Market ends up being a bad experience, even if it is due to me not reading a third description of the same item on the assumption the other two would list any restrictions if they existed... will often result in my not buying as much from the Paragon Market... |
You should know just by having played the game for a while that a new power set cannot be used on a pre-existing character.
Sorry, but if you bought it and got pissed off because you couldn't use the set with the blaster you created last year, you have no one to blame but yourself.

And anyone that complains that they are ignorant of the game mechanics has no one to blame but themselves because the information is freely available to everyone.

Honest mistakes happen, but willful ignorance is not an excuse.

Access to the Mastermind AT.
An active CoH account.

You left "can read" off that list.

I just got an email adverting the Beast Mastery power set... the email seems to indicate any character can use it... it has a link to a more detailed description... that description also does not say anything about character requirements to use the power set...

i feel i have a reasonable expectation that all descriptions should list requirements for use... especially those that suggest it is a detailed description, such as a link called 'Learn More'...
