skippable dark/dark powers?

I see anything Reppu says as a viewpoint from the PVP community so I guess that The Power is horrible in PVP but in PVE it's very nice. Not only does it debuff mobs to the floor but it opens up so many possibilities when it comes to Hold and Damage Procs...Which reminds me I need to make a Dark/Time.

Lolpvp

The Aoe hold works wonders as both hard (hold) and soft control (flooring tohit).

Black Hole is a taste thing. I really dislike intangible powers, more if you cant cancel them

Dark/Time seems as Proc-tastic as my Ar/Traps...this pleases me greatly *strokes goatee*.

Heck the damage you can do with procs for Distortion Field and Shadow Field ugh endless possibilities!!!!

Distortion Field alone is pretty proctastic, but it's made even more so by the fact that you can have multiple instances of it out. Shadow Field can take some nice procs too but it's recharge really puts a bit of a damper on it. If you've got your hands on the Unbreakable Constraint proc definitely slot it in DF unless you're after set bonuses with it.

Oh I plan to! I think of Shadow Field like Volcanic Gas...yeah you kind of waste procs in the power but once you get the power perma or close to it...it's amazing. It polishes off the baddies while you're busy with the boss.

Not quite. Gases summons invisible pets which then cast holds. Field is more like a standard patch, a pseudo with an aura, so the once every 10 seconds applies.

I wouldn't go too mad proccing it out personally. But I'm Time controller, so the chance to hold field is more tempting due to the lower recharge.

I'm taking everything except black hole and shadowy binds, but then again I have 3 vet attacks.

Oh I know that the two powers aren't exactly the same BUT procs work quite well in Shadow Field. The Lockdown Proc was firing quite a bit when I tested it out on BETA.

EDIT: I would say 1/3 of the mob had the Tesla animation on them when I used the power. It was a solid 1/3 of the mob every time that it was used.

Dark/time observations having hit 50 and slotted all but one of the purple sets I'm going to:

What a great combination. The word support does not do it justice for, to me, it implies hanging back and making others more effective at their jobs. My typical spawn approach in anything but extreme debuff or mez circumstances, such as the ITF, is to hit fearsome stare, shadow field or heart of darkness at the relevant point along my trajectory toward the center of the spawn. Next, distortion field goes down. Ah, distortion field. Five slots, five procs: impeded swiftness, ghost widow's embrace, neuronic shutdown, gladiator's net, and unbreakable constraint. I feel hesitant to share this, but did you know that distortion field is autohit? You will once you give it a whirl slotted like that. In any case, once that's working its magic, out come the shades, the fireballs, and the slowed responses.

I have slowed response one slotted with an analyze weakness acc/recharge and it tends to be up more than once per fight. Goodness, how does that work? I think it has something to do with the perma chrono shift. What can even be said about that apart from, "Damn?"

On the whole it worked out to be what I'd been expecting on paper. I never expected it to be quite so maniacally fun, however. Many of the key powers come in past level 30 but at no point while leveling did it feel weak. Instead, exemplaring down to 30 feels like playing a really powerful controller, but playing at 50 is more like trying to hang onto your bearings from the control room of a hurricane. There are so many crazy things you can do and all of them will wreck the bejesus out of anything around you.

If you'll excuse me, I think Trapdoor has a date with destiny.

Lockdown is the one proc I am sticking in there, having 2 additional 15% chances to proc when the power is fired off is pretty nice for 2 boss spawns.

But the long, long recharge means damage procs are mostly a waste really, in terms of DPS. I'll probably do my usual frankenslotting for them (4 Acc/Hold/Recharge IOs) and then the Lockdown proc.

Haunt I'm planning to slot with the Cloud Senses proc, it should have a chance to go off with each of their attacks which is nice. If I can manage to max out their recharge and damage of course (I tend to frankenslot rather than slot for set bonuses since I mostly play my chars 1-50 and then move on to another).

Distortion Field I'll be proccing up though, maybe not 5 of them but as many as I can squeeze in once I have its recharge maxed out.

Excellent. Thx for the tip .

I'll have to update my install in parallels tomorrow to start looking at a final build for my Dark/DAff/soon-to-be Leviathan. I've really REALLY missed the ability to plan out the build with IO sets etc. There are so many details I haven't really thought through well on the way up to 40.

Really look forward to seeing so others folks takes on Dark/Dark builds, there is sooooooo much that I feel like I need to take! Even without the Fitness pool sucking up the slots I feel so much like I'd love another few power slots... :: sigh ::

As Argentae said, you will not miss out on drops from foes defeated by Confused foes unless you have done NO Damage whatsoever. As long as you do any damage, you get some amount of XP and drops from the foe defeated.

I'm curious why your build is so tight that you have trouble fitting in what I would consider essential powers.
I reached level 45, then deleted the guy, lol. DC just isn't my cup of tea...I like coffee! To everyone else with DC, have fun.

Hmm, this makes me think that AOE stun + HT would be a good combo... pity HT doesn't refresh quick enough to be used every fight.

HT maybe auto hit, but it also uses a lot more endurance than HoD and it takes longer to cast so I wouldn't skip HoD. To be honest I have both and use HoD more than I use HT

I got my HT down to around 50 seconds recharge, that's good enough for every fight although I only use it once in a blue.

The only power I skipped was Black Hole. Dark/Dark has so much control that BH just doesn't fit into the Dark/Dark combo IMO

Who do I have to *&^% around here to get more Targeted AoE recipes added?

I don't think I have EVER take the ST immob. Ever. Then again, I almost always team, even a quick PuG.

Running a support character solo always seemed boring to me, at best, and at worst, masochistic.
