I agree!

This will likely be the only way I ever get interrested in and actually play another MM. As I'd roll the catgirl MM

I hope they'll look at more than just the CoT backpart, when it comes to possibly giving us players more of it. Surely there's more pieces in that set that we can use, and enough ways we can mix and match to avoid the red herring of "clipping issues".
We really got the bare minimum with that pack, and the fact that so much of it was denied us really angered a lot of people. I still want some of the different skirt options, and that nice short capelet that the energy mages wear.

It's called "set the money aside NOW" and pretend to yourself like it doesn't exist.

As for customization, just limit it as with other items. Give us two or three quivers - a natural quiver (simple leather/animal skin), an arcane quiver (fancied up like the arcane high collar capes and such) and a tech quiver (metallic and cylindrical looking or something) and let us use two colors on each, and viola, you're done.
Quivers aren't the problem - it's things like swords in scabbards that are causing the trouble.
If a player draws a sword, then the sword can't still be shown in the scabbard - it needs to be dynamic, and be activated when the wepaon power is activated, which isn't something they've done before.

So why don't we have quivers then?

Because many players would want to customize it.

And many players would then be making posts like this:

Quote:

You gave us quivers but my character doesn't reach back to draw an arrow from it. Fix it.

You gave us quivers, why can't we have scabbards for our swords, it's basically the same thing attached at the hip instead of on the back.

and many more along similar lines.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

The devs have never been obligated to adhere and acquiesce to every outlying armchair criticism thrown their way, so why start now? Especially in the case of a costume piece that should have launched with the game. They ought to create a quiver, maybe with a couple of different color and backpack or arrow variations to choose between.

After our new static quivers have been in the editor for a year or two, no one will really care about all of these small peculiar arguments we're having about them now. Nitpicking criticisms follow behind every content update, and are capably brushed aside. I'll even give Zwillinger a few suggestions to copy and paste from.

"Hello Bob! The new quiver costume pieces have been highly demanded and anticipated for years. Your new quivers are selectable from your backpack slot in the costume designer, and function only as costume accessories."

Quote:

"Hello Dan! Scabbards, holsters, and sheaths would first require particular technical hurdles to be overcome, hurdles which far surpass the difficulty in creating static costume accessories for the backpack slot."

Quote:

"Hello Betty! Capes do not presently work with the new quiver costume pieces, but I'll forward your suggestion on to the dev team!"

If you're a development studio, it's your responsibility to make cool stuff and dodge around funny questions like that in the meantime.

Archery wasn't available when CoH launched

Scooped.

And while Captain-Electric gave excellent of examples of disclaimers and/or statements that could be made by the OCR team or the Developers, that would do nothing to stem the tide of rage posts.

People that continually whine about certain items are not detered from their whining by logical statements of fact, developer statements of functionality, or any other reasonable response.

We've been seeing it for nearly 8 years on the Live forums, and could actually count farther back than that if you want to go back to the original Beta forums or even to the original original CoH forums while the game was still only in development.

That seems to be a pretty far stretch for complaints, especially the Capes one. I haven't seen a single person complain that they can't wear a backpack at the same time as a cape. In fact, from what I've seen, a majority of players don't care about those little things so long as they get a bad *** costume part they've been wanting. And like Electric said, the devs don't have to listen to every nonsensical complaint, although I really doubt we'd get a tidal sea of rage from implementing a quiver. If anything, it'd be a tidal sea of joy.

"You gave us hats, but why can't we have different hairstyles with them - I don't care if they clip" hasn't stopped the flow of hats.
