That would require Rick Moranis to come out of acting retirement. He retired in 1997. Good luck.

As much as I'd lurrrrv me some Ghostbusters, the chances of it being pulled off again after all this time seem really, really, really low.
I think I'll pass on another movie sequel 20 years after the last entry.

Well, it worked (sort of) for Indiana Jones. Why not Ghostbusters? I know my daughter would love it.
I liked Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, much more than Temple of Doom, but replacing Murray won't work. That's worse than having him killed or sent off between films. That would be like replacing Harrison Ford. I'd rather they don't even try to make another.
This project won't happen because there's no way they'll convince Rick Moranis to come out of retirement, especially to come back only to star in a movie that could bomb hard.

I thought the video game was number 3. It certainly played off the plot of the first two.
Issue 16 made me feel like this.

Rick is 60, and retired for the last 15 years, so I highly doubt he'd care to go through the hoops for this.
Even if he had a great time back then, I just can't see him being physically up for it.
I thought, last I heard, that Murray had opted to appear in a few cameos as Venkman's ghost. That it would be his death that is the catalyst for the whole movie...
Also I heard rumors that Oscar would be taking up the mantle, seeing as Oscar would be in his 20's now.
It would be them passing the torch to a new, younger crowd. As it would have to be really, in the hopes of renewing the franchise for a new generation.
I'm on the fence however.

Also I can see him as a replacement for Murray, and there could be worse replacements....

As to Oscar......among the many rumors were that Sigourney's character liked in GB2, and that Oscar is really Venkmen's son. He could become the leader of a new Ghostbusters team. Also if he is Venkmen's son and the loss of Venkmen disbanded the team, then Oscar may be what gets them to reunite to stop whatever the menace may be, or Oscar organizes a new team and Igon acts as their version of James Bond's "Q" and Ackroyd servers as trainer. Yes, I know that sounds like Extreme Ghostbusters, but if they are passing the torch to a younger team then Extreme Ghostbusters similarities are pretty much inevitable.

Also, I too liked Indy 4. It was a nice nostalgic return to the Indy franchise and while perhaps not a mega blockbuster like Raiders and Crusade (which i didn't expect it would be), it was still a fun addition to the franchise.
If they DO make it, it should be now or never. Rick's not getting any younger. Whether it's terrible or not, it'll still make a good bit of money. Ghostbusters 3 could either be REALLY REALLY good or REALLY REALLY awful.

Fan expectations will be hideously high, just like they were for Indy 4, Star Wars prequels and the Matrix sequels and of course fans will feel that their childhood was violated and blah blah blah.
I expect GB3 will be a fun movie worthy of the name Ghostbusters but not be a mega blockbuster like GB 1. It couldn't be worse then GB2.....
Wouldn't mind seeing GB3 though. The third movie's script certainly sounds interesting. Never played the video game made a couple years back though, so not sure how much of the plot was worked into it.

Touche. I just hope you're not actually trying to say the Phantom Menace was good.

Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones had their flaws but they were not abominations like Elektra, Catwoman, Blade 3/Trinity, Kevin Costner's Robin Hood, Highlander 2, Highlander 5: the Source (WORSE THEN TWO!), Star Trek Nemesis, Star Trek 5, Plan 9 from Outer Space, Mars Attacks, James Bond movies View to a Kill Living Daylights World is Not Enough, Superman 3, Superman 4, Superman Returns, Batman Forever, Batman and Robin..................

Too many alts to list.

I found both of those movies to be far more enjoyable with the sound muted.
Sometimes an actor simply doesn't want to revive a character, no mater how much money is offered. Been there, done that twice, it's over.

GHOSTBUSTERS 3
Speaking of ghosts, Dan Aykroyd spoke to Empire Online about "Ghostbusters 3" rumors, mentioning Bill Murray may not be back as Peter Venkman and may be replaced by another actor. Aykroyd also noted he would want Rick Moranis to play a major part in the production.
"If we can get the script to 'Ghostbusters 3' right, then it would definitely have Moranis as a major component," Aykroyd told Empire. "None of us would want to do the movie without having him as a participant."
To me this translates to "Bill Murray is out and we want Rick Moranis to take his place." Not a bad choice, but still let's see the script and hear what the plot will be besides passing the torch to a new generation of busters.
