For "projection-based" powers, I would like to see some "origin-based" alternative animations. For example, the way Dr. Strange uses hand jestures for create certain spells for magic, or like x-ray eyes, alternative projection points.

Kinetic Melee!

I would love to play this set, but have no interest whatsoever in being Naruto forming the rasengan!


Willpower has more passive regen than Regen does. Who thought that was a good idea?

Can we get a fix for Energy Melee instead of more new sets?

I think ALL of the sets could use additional alternative ani's kinda of like how they did MA but more.


The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.

All the blast sets need ALL the new blast options spread around. I was incredibly surprised and disappointed to see that each set only got 1-2 of the new animations, and they tended to repeat a lot.

Even stranger, some of the Assault sets didn't get the alternate animations that the corresponding Blast sets got. (For example, in Electricity Assult, only Zapp got the new animation; Charged Bolts and Lightning Bolt did not get the new animations). The same goes for Fire Melee's Breath of Fire not getting the alternate animations that Fire Blast's Fire Breath got, despite being visually the same move.

Perhaps the best example is the difference between lightsaber battles between the first Star Ward trilogy (IV, V, & VI) and the second (I, II, & III). The older ones resemble our current broad sword animations, while the newer runs remind me more of Dual Blades in their quickness and flow.

In terms of new animations, I think Katana/Ninja Blade and Claws could do with some new stuff. Sets like Broad Sword, War Mace, Battle Axe, and most of the punch-n'-stuff sets (ice melee, fire melee, dark melee) are fine because the look is pretty on-par with what you might expect.

As for new effects, that's a much larger pool of powers. Ice Armor is on the top of my list of "Sets I hope they look at sooner rather than later" but I am not getting my hopes up.
I should not that aesthethically I much prefer the older lightsaber fights. While not exactly *good* they look like two people actually fighting, not ballet.

I'll second Anti_Proton on the origin based animation ideas, obviously NOT restricted by origin, just called that. I'd love to have a fire controller/dominator that draws a quick rune in the air with their hand that the blast/spell fires from to make it look like they're casting magic, not just slinging fireballs haphazardly. Same with ice/elec/dark stuff. Would also be nice to see alternate staff/gun animations for the blast sets. It was discussed very heavily a while back but I've noticed it kind of drop off/disappear lately. I know it'd take alot of work, but if it was scheduled as a major issue feature (like the original power customization was) then I don't see why it couldn't have time devoted to it. It would take alot of UI work to set it up so you can choose a weapon from either staff or gun so it's customizable, but beyond that it would just take some animation/fx tweaks to have the attacks originate from a magic staff for spellcasters or from a high-tech rifle, pistol for science/tech people. I don't think the actual tweaking to have the fx originate from these sources would be too much considering we see Midnighter and Circle of Thorns slinging staves all the time and it works just fine.

That's all rather complex though, so I'll admit I'd love to see some slightly flashier alternate animations for those younger/punker heroes, like for example: Fireball. Instead of just step forward and throw, maybe we could get something like a forward flip and toss like a trick throw in basketball. I could see a fire blaster doing that and then giving the enemy a little "And what?" gesture. Just make them look more cocky. Could also give us something more elegant styled like Sailor Neptune's turn to the side, back hand aloft, blast type attack.



There's all kinds of possibilities, but I'd just be happy for some alternates that don't just look like "stand still and shoot" but PLEASE Devs, if you're reading this, no more of those stupid looking "step forward and push with my hands while rocking on the balls of my feet" animations. They look so stupid I can't bring myself to even think about using them, and I've yet to actually see someone use them in game, which should really say something about how bad they look.

Besides weapon redraw. *massive facepalm. How about any animation that you stand there for 1, 2, sometimes 3 seconds. ....and moderate damage. Seriously? Its like watching a movie and there's the scene where a guy that can't pee when someone is around. Elec Melee has this horrid cone and you stand there with your arms out for like an hour and a half. and then poink. nuthin. A lot of sets have these ridiculous problems.

It used to use the very same animation. Then they 'balanced' Energy Melee.

And if anyone touches my Ripper animation, I'll /ragequit. Love that animation, just wish they'd make the sets longer animations have an appropriate damage mod to go with them.

really? That's one of the sets I find the most fun. Its animations are smooth and, well, pretty. And you can customize their colors a lot more than typical fistfighting sets. Perhaps Street Justice is more like you want.

Honestly though I think it would be really awesome if we had the ability to mix and match animations and colors from various sets. I can't really describe or draw what I'm thinking of so I won't flat out request or demand it because it's a lot harder than I can imagine I'd wager. But I think it would be sweet if I could have a character with say, the mechanics of a martial arts/ninjutsu stalker with the animations of street justice/ice armor, and if I could make my ice armor red, as if it were crystals of heat energy from my home planet of villia or whatever.

That is, however, pretty far out there.

Totally agree with this. If you read the description for Ripper, it SOUNDS exactly like how barb swipe looks. And wtf, a minor damage attack with an animation that long? Swap BS with ripper, and give swap an alternating, single hand slash.

Also, Tremor for stone melee is just awful. It is sooo slow for an already slow set, and isnt in line with other pbaoes.

Rend Armour from Titan weaps. It looks dumb. You are not 'rending' anything, you are stabbing them..with something huge. It should have a twisty kinda corkscrew effect at teh end, like you are literally stripping away their armour.

Not an animation change, but I would love to see Wand like animations for the blast sets. Playing in the first ward, all the carnies with wands look awesome, when combined with energy blast. The blasts coming out the wand, obviously. AS well as things like teh senechaals Brazier fire spit. Of course..having wands and staffs on blast sets would add redraw..but it would still be cool

You do realize the weapon flips upside down at the end of the stab, right? It's quite poorly done imo, but the weapon does spin technically. Watch it in the chracter creator, it's quite easy to see with the razor blade.

Would like to see this. And they could also make the wand or staff appear magically since, well, a staff/wand would be magic. Like in a puff of smoke or something, which could eliminate the issue of adding redraw to powersets that wouldnt have redraw normally. *shrug*

Oh, that could be why..my TW is the big hunk of concrete..I never noticed it spinning! Still..a stab is not rending something.

Also like the ideas of drawing runes in midair, for blast sets. There is that temp power from croatoa, that does something similar.
