Nul the Gull + Superspeed + Haste

Ever since I started playing I have never liked the bright glow effect from Superspeed and even more so now we have Path Aura's. Myself and many others would like if we could have the option to turn off these glow effects via Null the Gull so we could get full effect of the Path Aura.

If I had to guess you'd be roughly around the 500th person I've seen suggest this.

The Devs know that we want Power Pool customization (which would be better than just adding this to Null the Gull, IMO). There are just more technical hurdles to that than just the normal powersets, or so we've been told. I hope that in one of the next few issues they begin to address this, though.

Well they have already introduced custom movement effects, It's called "Path Aura". And the only thing that is making this hard to see is "Superspeed". So an easy fix would be to make a Null the Gull option.

And for Power Pool customization, Who cares about the rest? What can they do with Tactics, Assault, and Stealth ect.....

Not alot.

And Fly, Hover, Jumping, Combat Jump, The Medicine Pool, Fighting, Teleportation? All of those could get some decent revamps on animations with customization.

Custom movement effects in the form of Path Auras don't negate my point that there are technical hurdles for the Devs when it comes to power pool customization.

I want ALL of the Power Pools to get some customization work done on them, INCLUDING the Speed Pool. If it's just going to be one pool, then why both with creating the tech?

.... right. The only reason it's not done is that the devs are busy swilling beer and watching Youtube at work. Couldn't possibly be anything else. Obviously it's really easy to do, and the devs are just lazy. Yep. That must be it.

Sheesh.

1. lol @ "easy."

2. Why would a graphics option be a "Null the Gull option" as opposed to being in the tailor? That would be like saying you can alter your costume at a trainer or at icon, except for head options which need to be done at the Science stores.

Search. People have asked for alternate/minimum FX options, permanently attaching one of the Flypose options to flight, etc. for other powers for at least as long. Just because YOU may not care about the others doesn't mean other people don't.

If you've only played an AT once (one set combo) and "hate" it - don't give up. Roll a different combo. It may just be those sets not clicking for you.

omg fly with a tornado around you or TP with the vanguard sigil or a "shadow step" [good description but i want diff from WS XD]. OOOMGGGG i would die happy omg.

omg. super jump but customized to have the dive and surface of the coralax from a "random pool of water" would make me: need new pants. although that would be difficult for SJ, huh. OH OH OH! what if it was a sort of "Ground-Placement Based TP" called Sub-Transport and could have animation options like "tunneling" or "puddle jumping" with the demon summon animation and the coralax summon animations.

jus' sayin

i'mma make a suggestion thread for that XD

I suspect the biggest technical hurdle at the moment is that they don't have a way to make it cost extra. Once they can fit certain types of power customization and not others into the market for a fee, we'll see it pretty quickly.

I seem to remember Positron saying something about PVP and how it wouldn't be fair, and completely missing the point that we only want to turn it off in PVE.

That was an argument back in the day, but I really doubt any developer has used that line of tack since the advent of the "Show power fx in PvP Only" mechanics.

I think I heard that the current issue (besides remaking all the particle effects in the Power Pools in to customizable versions) is that they have no way to deal with the fact that Power Pools aren't permanent to a build like Primary and Secondary sets.

this is always interesting to me because you can customize the epic pool's weapon for Mace Mastery, even if you have it not on your current build, but on a separate build.

I *know* that's not the same, but it's a start as a customizeable power that you can potentially respec out of, AND can customize despite potentially not being in your current powers window [because you have it on a different build.] right? or am i mistaken? i forget :P

The reason for this (and for being able to customize the rifle in Munitions Mastery) was to avoid creating a weapon redraw issue where one didn't exist before.

For example: Before weapon customization, a Blaster with Assault Rifle and Munitions Mastery would use the same weapon for both sets.

After weapon customization, that same Blaster could change their Assault Rifle model, but not Munitions mastery, so now they had to redraw different weapons when switching between the two sets. So Munitions Mastery's weapon became customizable so the Blaster wouldn't have to redraw different guns.

The same was done the with Mace Mastery powers to avoid Arachnos Soldiers having to redraw different maces between their Primary and Mace Mastery.

And the weapons like Maces and Assault Rifles are costume parts, they already had the tech in place that having certain powers would unlock certain costume parts to choose between, as you might have noticed from respecifying on a character with a weapon set.

Now compare that to the jumble of Incarnate power customization: If you unlock Judgement and go to the tailor, it doesn't offer just the Judgement powers you have slotted; it offers every Judgement power. I find this annoying because I can not be bothered to remember the different names of the tier 3 powers.

Without new tech, I think they'd have to display every power pool and ancillary power pool option (though, I suspect that the Patron Pool Powers would only need to show up if your character had unlocked them).

Yes, I believe that's what they want to avoid.

Why? It's an option. If you don't want it then it doesn't affect you in any way.

Because there's a better way of doing what the Gull does and IMO think the Dev's took the easy way out.

Example: options>gerenal>auto accept team TP [disable]

Why can't they put those options in for accepting speed buffs, leap buff, etc.

Also ... I want them to put in an in mission and out of mission speed suppression slider in general options

Example: if I have SS on. I only want to travel @ 30 MPH in mission map instead of 70.
Thereby controlling the likelihood of being caught on a chair or mob.

I was suggesting "Null the Gull" to have the option to turn off the glow effect of super speed NOT having the option to turn down the speed.

Don't tempt them. We'll have Null the Gull take over from Statesman, but you'll have to fight some Praetorians and get permission from the Bucket of Annoyance to do anything with him.
