Sorcery is Highly wanted when will it come
Just make alternate animations for things.
Have powers originate from a wand ( black wand ) or Staff. The have different wands and staves players can get. Of course this all seems something that could be added to the market. For powers like Devices and traps make arcane type devices. Instead of Trip mine you have Arcane Glyph of exploding. Yet again not that far fetched since they have Arcane and Tech devices for Bases. |

While the initial post has provided me with many lols, I feel like I should remind people that even if sorcery did exist, there are many meta-humans in comics that would fit a non-magic origin that are described as using magical or arcane abilities. Scarlet Witch, Danielle Moonstar, and Illyana Rasputin (Magick) are prime examples. One could also consider certain members of the Eternals, New Gods, and possibly Inhumans to fit. That being said, my magic heroes get fine with tinted blasts that look magic-y. A wand or staff would be neat as others have said, but a whole sorcery power set would be silly as it's not very well defined.

Hm. Perhaps what is more needed then is a whole series of alternate animations using wands or similar for all sorts of blast sets.
Create a blackwand-like "magic wand" and a similar "power rod device" for the more tech / science concepts. Then create 9 or so different animations which are "casting from the wand / rod" (already got at least one done with the current blackwand animation).
Then go through and at those animations as alternate animations to all the blast sets (2 alternate animations. One for Wand, one for techie Power Rod.) Then, if popular, port the animations over to buff / control sets.
This would give the option of "wand wielding wizards" with all sorts of options (fire, dark, ice, energy, etc)

The one big problem I do see with all these Alternate animation ideas is this game engine I guess. What I am trying to get across with this comment is basically another MMO which will not be mentioned seems to say hey we are putting in retro space costumes, here are some images and then 1 week later they are in. Where as here they show you some concepts of costumes they want to put in on the market but it takes MONTHS to see it go live. Similarly this other game tosses out weapon packs like they are going out of style. Here you have to beg to get Gun Drone to be summoned while in the air and are still waiting around for things players have been asking cosmetically for years..
I don't honestly know if it is the game engine but I would like to believe it is and not the devs.

Well since we have power recoloring now I see no reason we can't have blasts of mysterious definition that the player can decide the true nature of. I'm unsure about "Sorcery" specifically (although Assault Rifle is mighty specific about its origin), but I could see something more vague like:
- Chaotic Blast
- Retribution Blast
- Rage Blast
- Karmic Blast
- Spirit Blast
- Lucent Blast
- Strange Blast
- Prismatic Blast
...or whatever strangeness they choose to concoct, that could easily incorporate sorcery of various kinds.
On a completely unrelated side note, at least one set should have powers that shoot straight up out of the ground, and another should have things that shoot mostly straight down, rather than always going from player to target in a line.
I was on a team with a DP Blaster named 'Assault Magi' awhile back that according to the bio...had crafted some sort of arcane/steampunk type pistols. He basically shot chaos bolts that had different effects depending on what spells he cast prior to fighting.
I think your imagination is the only limit even with the sets we have that dont seem to be specificaly sorcery based.

Or you could be.....
.....a mutant with the ability to create a tiny pocket dimension to store your equipment in. When it's out of ammo you put it back and pull out a different one.
.....a mage who has an enchanted assault rifle.
.....a being created entirely of nanomachines who can create extensions of their body in any form they desire (who happens to choose as assault rifle)
etc.
Just because you use an assault rifle doesn't mean your origin is set in stone anymore than it does for any other set.

I have a AR Traps toon with a bio related to be experimented on by Neutron in Pretoria. His costumes are related to different versions of him leveling up and during different times in his so called life.
A player looked at my costume and said "Cool 5th Column steam punk" without reading the bio. Then after reading the bio he thought he should tell me I should switch up the story to fit the costume.
Though on the other hand AR does have access to that carnival of light gun with the magic crystal on it. If they could change the effects coming out of the gun it would fit a bit more though with the magic idea.
If they alternate effects for Traps lets say that were arcane. Example would be Acid Mortar in the guise of Improved Snow Crystal
