I have a lvl 41 MM and just purchased the Going Rouge through the Paragon Market. How can I access GR content?

Thanks!

You can visit Praetoria via Pocket D or Talos Island. You can change or confirm your alignment by investigating tips. Is there something specific you're looking to try?

'I don't like the look of it at all,' said the King: 'however, it may kiss my hand if it likes.'
'I'd rather not,' the Cat remarked.
'Don't be impertinent,' said the King, 'and don't look at me like that!' He got behind Alice as he spoke.
'A cat may look at a king,' said Alice.

well for the most part praetoria is just a new starting zone, so your older character though he can go there and explore( portal is in pocket D) and do some of thier outdoor events etc it wont give u alot. You need to start a new character in praetoria to get the most out of it by exploring the very well rendered new zones, and pretty well written story arcs with enough multiple paths it had most going alt crazy when it first launched.

btw gl on that MM i see alot get shelved in thier early 40s for some reason.

Yes, I would like try being a Rouge. I am a Villain now. Just wanted to try something new. I mainly got GR because I was informed that I need it for the Incarnate Trials. So I thought I would give GR a try.

Thanks!

You were informed wrong. You need to be subscribed to do the incarnate Trials. Owning or not owning GR has no bearing on the incarnate trials anymore.

Its still worth the purchase though, so don't get me wrong.. its just not needed for incarnate content which is VIP only currently.

No, Going Rogue is a requirement, and so is VIP status, but VIPs now get Going Rogue automatically.

Just so you know - now for Incarnate trials, you just need to be VIP - the sub includes everything you need.

In fact, you MUST be VIP for incarnate trials.

And it's "Rogue".

Rouge leads to

Which translates to "not anymore" - the only thing you need to have on your account is an active sub now -the sub comes with all you need.

Right, you don't need to buy anything to go rouge.

Just visit the tailor and turn your costume red. Done.

I like to make distinctions. In the end it works out the same.

Thank you all for your responses. I guess it breaks down to me being misinformed. I'll give the GR expansion a try and see if I like it (have no choice, can't return it). I do feel a little cheated. I was hoping to not pay for VIP since I play in spurts. I may play for the next few weeks and then get bored and come back in six months or so. I understand the need to "make money" through micro-transactions but there could be more information as to what purchase actually does and does not do on the paragon market. I also understand the push to go VIP otherwise they can't stay in business. I guess I'll go VIP when I am ready for the trials until them I'll explore GR.

Thanks again!

It has been clearly stated in everything I've seen about Freedom that Incarnate access requires being a VIP.

I'm not sure why you feel cheated.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

GR is a great addition to a F2P account, the TIP missions and rewards are worth every penny spent on that Pack. Plus, you know, ... going *rogue*.

But I can't sympathies with you about the Incarnate thing. It's absolutely everywhere that incarnates are VIP only, and if you'd just asked *here* you would have got correct information. Can I ask who told you to get GR? Someone needs a talkin' to.

What you mean a side by side comparison of what each type of account gets access to? Like here ...

http://na.cityofheroes.com/en/freedom/about-freedom/

Or maybe an FAQ that explains things like here?

http://na.cityofheroes.com/en/freedom/faq/

Or maybe they should list what VIP's get when they subscribe like here.

https://secure.ncsoft.com/cgi-bin/St...71&item_id=593

And what exactly is confusing about the description of the product you bought on the Paragon Market?

It clearly states that what you are buying access to is the Alignment System and nothing else. There is absolutely no mention of Incarnate Content and no reason to assume that you would get access to it.

It sounds like you and whomever gave you the misinformation assumed that the old Going Rogue Edition was still in effect after they switched to the new business model.

So while I don't blame you for feeling cheated, if your going to hold someone responsible it should be whomever told you something contrary to everything the company has put out to let you know that you need a VIP sub to access the Incarnate content.

Again thank you for all your responses. Please don't take my "cheated" response as that I don't like COH. I do. My feelings are just that mine and I expressed them. I recommend CoH to my friends and take my experience as just that. I have not played CoH in a number of years and I am on a learning curve from the massive amount of changes. What I did learn is that there is an active discussion group that is friendly and helpful. So, the next time I have a question I know where to go first.

Thanks,

No problem. You just happened upon a topic where there was a lot of "spirited debate" once the details on what GR meant for a premium player and that it didn't mean incarnate.

It's still a touchy subject like chat and SG restrictions on free players.

Ok, I am at Pocket D and cannot enter the gate to get to Praetoria. Is there a contact I must see first? (I went to the gate behind the ramp gate. I read that's to one to go to.)

Thanks,

It's already been mentioned, but it's a huge pet peeve of mine, so it bears repeating:

It's not rouge. It's rogue. R O G U E.

The former is french for red.

The latter is English, meaning a dishonest, knavish person.

I'm not sure what the deal is with the word rogue, but I marvel at how pervasively the misspelling is used. I rank it up there with the misuse of there, their, and they're, and of your and you're.

(I know, I'm being pedantic).

Q. Just wondering Posi, where are the new dance emotes we were told would come with GR?

Thanks,
It is a small wall portal. Open your map and make sure "lounge" is enabled - the gate will either say Imperial City or Studio 55 (or similar)

You used to have to apply the update to your account at the NCSoft site. Maybe not now, but it's a thought.

Don't forget yore, for people in the Southern US.

Thanks,
I tried something on my Premium account the other day for a test in another thread, but didn't try all of the combinations. My Premium Account has Tier 3 filled on the Paragon Rewards shrub and had not purchased GR before the launch of Freedom or made any purchases through the Paragon Market.

In my test for the other thread I took my hero to Talos Island and went through the portal to Underground Imperial next to Mistress Eva. I then went through the door to First Ward and looked at the sky. I then went back to Underground Imperial and then headed up to the exit to Imperial City. Once I got into Imperial City I went to Studio 55 and from there went through the portal to go to Pocket D.

At that point, I stopped my testing.

After reading Soul_Bender's post above, I decided to try going from Pocket D to Studio 55. On clicking the portal I get the following message:

Quote:

A dimensional field surrounds this door. You cannot enter.
So, it appears that for a Premium account that has not purchased GR prior to Freedom (or found and purchased a GR box set since Freedom was released and applied the code on the Account page) or purchased Create a Praetorian from the Paragon Market cannot access Studio 55 through the portal in Pocket D. Since the purchase of the Going Rogue Alignment System in the Paragon Market has nothing to do with Praetoria, it's seems obvious that this wouldn't drop the dimensional barrier around the portal in Pocket D.

However, a Premium can go through the Underground Imperial access points in Talos or Cap au Diable, move through the Underground to the exit to Imperial City, go into Studio 55 and then through the portal there back to Pocket D.

Weird.

So if I understand this right, a VIP has access to Praetoria but a Premium w/o GR does not?

But a VIP w/o GR can't create a Praetorian, correct?

Because otherwise you'd have a problem I think... create a Praetorian, then drop to Premium.

All VIPs effectively have GR now.

'I don't like the look of it at all,' said the King: 'however, it may kiss my hand if it likes.'
'I'd rather not,' the Cat remarked.

Not quite. A Premium can still access Praetoria by going through the Underground Imperial section by way of the gates for accessing First Ward, then going to out from there to Imperial City. They can get back through Studio 55's portal to Pocket D I didn't test to see if they could get back into the Underground Imperial from Imperial City. I guess that's my next test. They just can't get to Praetoria by using the portal in Pocket D.

As Aneko pointed out, GR is part of the base VIP subscription now. So any VIP can create a Praetorian.

From what I remember of the testing that others did, once they drop to Premium they wouldn't be able to access that Praetorian character if they were still classed as a Praetorian (hadn't leveled to 20 and chosen Hero or Villain when leaving Praetoria) unless they purchase the Create a Praetorian content through the Paragon Market, find purchase and apply a GR retail box code on the Account page (Snow Globe's testing shows this still works to get all GR content opened) or return to VIP status.

So yes, if they drop to Premium status those Praetorian characters that haven't chosen to leave Praetoria would be locked to them with just the basic Premium account.
