Going Rouge on a exisiting char

There are no VIP's without GR. It's all part of the subscription now. The catch is that players that bought the GR Edition will retain access to Praetoria if they go Prem.
So if I understand this right, a VIP has access to Praetoria but a Premium w/o GR does not?
But a VIP w/o GR can't create a Praetorian, correct? Because otherwise you'd have a problem I think... create a Praetorian, then drop to Premium. |
Not sure if that still applies to accounts that buy old copies of GR and try to use the code. I can't test it as I've had GR since it released.

I like this idea, so here's the dumb question. Where in Cap Au Diable is the Underground portal?
I tried something on my Premium account the other day for a test in another thread, but didn't try all of the combinations. My Premium Account has Tier 3 filled on the Paragon Rewards shrub and had not purchased GR before the launch of Freedom or made any purchases through the Paragon Market.
In my test for the other thread I took my hero to Talos Island and went through the portal to Underground Imperial next to Mistress Eva. I then went through the door to First Ward and looked at the sky. I then went back to Underground Imperial and then headed up to the exit to Imperial City. Once I got into Imperial City I went to Studio 55 and from there went through the portal to go to Pocket D. At that point, I stopped my testing. After reading Soul_Bender's post above, I decided to try going from Pocket D to Studio 55. On clicking the portal I get the following message: So, it appears that for a Premium account that has not purchased GR prior to Freedom (or found and purchased a GR box set since Freedom was released and applied the code on the Account page) or purchased Create a Praetorian from the Paragon Market cannot access Studio 55 through the portal in Pocket D. Since the purchase of the Going Rogue Alignment System in the Paragon Market has nothing to do with Praetoria, it's seems obvious that this wouldn't drop the dimensional barrier around the portal in Pocket D. However, a Premium can go through the Underground Imperial access points in Talos or Cap au Diable, move through the Underground to the exit to Imperial City, go into Studio 55 and then through the portal there back to Pocket D. Weird. |
Thanks,
Never mind, I found it.
On the freaking map, I should look better next time.
Great, it works, I am in Imperial City. Thanks for the information.
Congrats S_B!

Some others have reported successfully applying a GR code to their Premium account and having access to the GR bits when it was Premium.

I'm thinking Snow Globe was one of them, but this late at night I won't trust my memory and I'm being too lazy to search.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

I'm right with you on that. But, to be honest, I find myself making those silly mistakes from time to time. On the forums, not so much, but in chat while gaming, wow, it can get pretty ugly.
It's already been mentioned, but it's a huge pet peeve of mine, so it bears repeating:
It's not rouge. It's rogue. R O G U E. The former is french for red. The latter is English, meaning a dishonest, knavish person. I'm not sure what the deal is with the word rogue, but I marvel at how pervasively the misspelling is used. I rank it up there with the misuse of there, their, and they're, and of your and you're. (I know, I'm being pedantic). |
I really would love it if CoH came with some sort of built in ventrillo or team-speak option. Yet, it needs to be stated, I'd probably lose a lot of in game friends if they heard all the comments I make when things don't go well.
I always chalk up the "teh" and the "rouge" as dyslexia. <shrug>

It was stated the only thing you don't get from the box, now, is the 2 character slots.

Creating Praetorians, the power sets, etc, are all granted to the account permanently.

You shouldn't feel cheated.
Thank you all for your responses. I guess it breaks down to me being misinformed. I'll give the GR expansion a try and see if I like it (have no choice, can't return it). I do feel a little cheated.

It is clearly spelled out in the official game information that buying Going Rogue on a Premium account does not grant you access to Incarnate content.
You being misinformed by another player is in no way the game's fault.
You can do things like side switch and acquire Alignment merits (which is one of the best ways of getting expensive IOs available) You also get access to 4 new power sets with the purchase (I think), which are: Kinetic Melee, Demon Summoning, Dual Pistols, and Electric Control. If you only have one or two characters that you play, it also effectively doubles the amount of content available to you.

Close. I applied GR:Retail to a 2nd account in July with the $9.99 steam sale. That account has Good Vs Evil Retail, Going Rogue Retail, and Architect Edition Retail and a few other goodies bought. It is at 5 Paragon Reward Tokens (I wanted global channel access).

So it has access to all the good vs. evil bonuses, all the Going Rogue Bonuses (including alpha/omega costumes), and the Super Booster 2: Magic.

Primals can access Praetoria (Going Rogue expansion required)
|
- You have to buy Going Rogue Retail (it works on my premium account)
- Or buy "create a Praetorian"
- Or have had Going Rogue serial code applied to the account prior to Issue 21 launch.

Pretty much.
Triumph: White Succubus: 50 Ill/Emp/PF Snow Globe: 50 Ice/FF/Ice Strobe: 50 PB Shi Otomi: 50 Ninja/Ninjistu/GW Stalker My other characters
It's the same as creating a character with a VIP powerset, or one of the "VIP" ATs.
Lose access and the character is locked, even if the slot is not.
