Paragon Wiki (aka Wiki.CoHTitan.com). Both url point to the same site. You do not want to go to the Wikia site. You'll find a lot of answers there, especially with regards to things like badges.

You won't find much about gold, though.

'I don't like the look of it at all,' said the King: 'however, it may kiss my hand if it likes.'
'I'd rather not,' the Cat remarked.
'Don't be impertinent,' said the King, 'and don't look at me like that!' He got behind Alice as he spoke.

First time around is always the hardest money-wise.

Get that character to 50 and play the game. Money will pour in. After that, you'll have to decide if you want to earn more through farming or marketing.

Me, I make my millions marketing, can't stand farming. But others do well over there.

Hahahaha.

Also... To the OP, you might want to learn how to play the game before you start thinking about farming it. SS does not conflict with Fiery Aura. And there is no gold in this game. None!

Here's a whacky idea: Play the game. Get involed with pickup groups. Chat some, maybe in [Help] but for sure in [Global] and [Local]. Trial and error.

There's no real substitute for actually learning the game, playing it through the way it was meant to be done.

But hey, it's your time, I guess. I hope you find enjoyment however you choose to play Co*!

August 31, 2012. A Day that will Live in Infamy. Or Information. Possibly Influence. Well, Inf, anyway. Thank you, Paragon Studios, for what you did, and the enjoyment and camaraderie you brought.

Points:

1. It's inf (short for influence for heroes, infamy for villains, information for Praetorians), not gold.

2. You don't need to farm to make enough money to finance a character's build. I see you're actually a free member so I'm not sure if you're able to just sell stuff on the auction house or if you can't even access the auction house at all, but since you can't use Invention Origin enhancements you really don't need to worry about having piles and piles of inf. The game is perfectly playable without a tweaked-out uber-build (and again, pretty much any current uber-build is beyond your grasp as they all use Inventions). Even if you did have access to the endgame (see point 3) you wouldn't need an uber-build in order to participate.

3. My god, you just started and you're already level 38? My suggestion is to slow way down, this game is not like other MMOs, there's a whole bunch of content to experience at levels 1-49. There is an actual endgame, but you can only access it as a VIP player, but even if you could access it you still shouldn't be racing to get there.

"You don't lose levels. You don't have equipment to wear out, repair, or lose, or that anyone can steal from you. About the only thing lighter than debt they could do is have an NPC walk by, point and laugh before you can go to the hospital or base." -Memphis_Bill

Not true as gold comes in two flavors - normal and alchemical

However as far as currency goes it is call "Inf" here. Heroes have influence, Villians infamy, and Preatorians information.

You say you are a free player - somim guessing you are using training/dual/single origin enhancements. These can combine when they are the same and will make one of a level higher than the highest level enhancement used in the combine. One trick to save money somewhat is don't replace your enhancements at the X2 and X7 levels but rather at X3 and X8 so they combine and his last you a little longer.

Also, paragraphs make you easier to understand - try and remember to break up your text some and you generally will get more people.

This is not the path to enlightenment.

Note in this game, Respecs start you over AFTER primary/secondary power selection.

To access secondary builds (or specs) when you go to the trainer choose "Rename or select an alternate build"

Please try to play some of the other content within the game,I know the sewers are fast for lvl,s but you miss so much more.Farming is not my thing and I have rarely looked at that side of the game,I,m also terrible at the marketing game but due to my normal game play I have enough inf.on my characters to buy what I need,I will just say that I have very few purple IO,s on any of my characters. This all all said welcome to the game try and get in to some teams and enjoy the game

The "problem" is that you started on the Freedom server. Freedom has a strong farming and powerleveling mentality. If you go to other servers, you won't be exposed to so much of it and subsequently, you won't feel that you're doing something wrong or missing out by not farming or powerleveling.

This game is very solo friendly. Of course, being a MMO, teaming is encouraged, but you don't have to if you don't want to. You do level up a lot faster by teaming, but then you will also outlevel your enhancements quicker. So you may be pressed with financial concerns about the need to replace them. Thus you may want to try to take it slower and solo a bit. See the sights and read the mission stories that you're missing out on because the team is always rushing through.

Speaking of rushing, there's no need to. Without being a VIP, there's not much to do once you reach level cap. Once you get to level 50, you then have the choice of retiring your character and starting a new one, or use the Oroborus "flashback" system to replay all the story arcs you skipped past, or exemplaring down do do the Task Forces you skipped past, or just general teaming. You're not going to pick up any better loot that you are probably already using. Most of the real loot in this game requires Auction House access (which you'll have to pay for) or the Incarnates system (which you need to be a VIP for).

Teams are the number one killer of soloists.

Reading this made me cringe. >.<

This isn't WoW. Slow down, it's okay. It's more about the journey than the destination. We've only had an Endgame for a little over a year now and being a free player, you won't be able to do anything at level cap anyways. Take your time, run some real missions and have fun!

I talked a friend into trying the game out when it went free, he instantly feel in love and played for 12+ hours a day for a month. He lived on a steady diet of Sewer runs and wouldn't ya know it...
A month later he quit in disgust, wondering why he should stick around now that his only 2 slots where 50 with nothing to do...

Well now! That is lucky. My question is, why you feel the need to farm inf(gold). 600+ million is way more than enough at your level. Way more.

Welcome to the game! We want you to stick around. If you're farming for lulz because you enjoy doing it, by all means stick with it! If however, you're farming because you think you have to to compete(ala most other MMO's) well relax, you don't. It's 100% optional, and as you're seeing, still kind of looked down on 'round these parts.

Also, some good programs:

Mid's Hero builder Very useful for planning.
Vidiot map pack This DL will update the ingame map to show badge locations and enemey layouts etc.

One last thing, when asking for help, your origin doesn't matter. The advice will be the same regardless of you being a mutant or a robot.

Have fun Hero!

The typical MMO is like a movie. Driving to the theatre, finding a parking place, waiting in line for the ticket, waiting in line for snacks... and then at the end of all that annoying wait you finally get to the good part, the movie. It's great to be able to skip a lot of that through methods like having friends buy the tickets and the snacks and save you a seat. After all, you are there for the movie, not the wait.

CoX is like a museum of stuff you like. You can travel through the museum seeing neat things like a spacesuit that actually walked on the moon or the dress Anne Francis wore in Forbidden Planet (dang that woman was tiny) or maybe a telescope owned by a famous astronomer. And then at the end you can see an entertaining cartoon featuring Marvin the Martian.

What you are doing is treating the museum like it's a movie. You are jumping barriers, ducking under ropes, and sneaking through a maintenance door just so you can see the cartoon at the end without having to bother with the museum.

I admit I haven't paid attention to all the levels of access...so I'm not an expert on what Free or Premium players get. But I think that free players are somewhat limited in what they can spend influence on -- can they even slot inventions without buying a license? And isn't there a low-ish cap on how much inf they can have on one character?

Before you go chasing big money, might be worthwhile to find out.

You're right about the cap.

If he's a free player and he got a Ragnarok...
(A) he can't sell it on the market, and
(B) even if he could, he's got a cap of 25 million per character.

If he's premium, of course, that can be much different - but he says he's new, so I rather doubt that.
