Turrets as mobs?

Since when were turrets a mob? I just completed a level 15 newspaper mission in Cap au Diable in which the opposing force was nothing but turrets: Dual Artillery, Quad Howitzer, Hovering Chain Guns, and Pop-Up Anti-Personnel. . . which literally popped up anywhere. There was a warehouse full of them and other than their hostage (the mission objective), there wasn't any "people" involved. The flippin' things even spoke!

I've been playing off-and-on for seven years and this is the first time I have ever seen this so I'm a bit confuzzled.

Every game must have a Pew-Pew factor. COH must of finally found theirs.

I've run a lot of newspaper missions but have never encountered a mission like this. What enemy group was named in the mission description, if any? Did the turrets at all fit with the mission description or the dialogue?

Funny things happen with newspaper/radio missions when a patch occurs between when you accept the misson and when you run it. Often one enemy group getting switched to another happens. Was this possibly the case here?

Well, I'm willing to bet you didn't spend the run immobilizing them like I did, before I realized what was going on. I blame an 8-person team with 4 MMs for the oversight. =P

Yep. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Nope. . . ran it solo with a Dark Melee/Ninjitsu Stalker. The nice thing was that when I ran away, they didn't follow.

The mission was the Local Nurse Disappears mission so the turrets didn't fit the description or the dialogue. . . unless the Devs have watched "Maximum Overdrive" or "The Terminator" one too many times. The enemy group was literally "Turrets".

There was no time gap between getting the mish and running it. Read the newspaper, selected the mish, and ran it immediately thereafter.

After I nabbed the nurse and lead her to the exit, I made a point of going back through and clearing the map, just to see if there was someone controlling the turrets. There wasn't. I even managed to get a couple of screenshots. Sadly, I didn't get any of the Dual Artillery or Quad Howitzers.

Was this perchance a mission you'd had for a while?

Often after a major update existing newspaper missions can get rather...scrambled. It's probably a result of the Mad Libs nature of papers: they try to pull a faction from some list, the list has changed since you acquired the mission, and hey presto, you have a mission full of +35 Storm Elementals.

Very weird, must be just that mission screwed up somehow.
Interestingly enough, I was offered that same mission just the other day, but picked another one instead. Now I wish I hadn't, sounds like fun. Or at least something different.

Almost certainly bugged. Pop-up turrets are generally placed by hand, not left to spawn in random, odd locations. File a bug report with the mission's title.

All that said, a "Trap" Mission like this, with nothing but turrets and spawning traps powers would be awesome.

One of the Doc Quantum tip missions is like that.

Great accidental PVP map. Has turrets and bombs. And bombs next to bombs, all around the room... boom-chain is GO!... er, sorry mate didn't see you jumping into all those bombs I was sniping.
