Emailing Candy Canes . . .

Is there any way to email myself more than one candy cane at a time (so I can collect them all on one alt)?

No, unless you have a second account - a base both your alts have access to might also work.

Cross server? Not without buying them on the market.

I don't know what server you're on, but I think it would be very easy to give them to a character on another account. Any of us could volunteer to accept your candy canes and give them back to the character you designate.

My global is @ukase, be happy to help.

Another alternative is Salvage Racks inside an SG Base. So long as both characters are in the same SG, you can load up the Rack(s) with Candy Canes and withdraw from them on different characters quite quickly. This method completely sidesteps the email option (of course).

It's the end. But the moment has been prepared for ...

  1. Create a freebie account for yourself.
  2. Trade from your primary account to the freebie character.
  3. Switch to the character on the main account you want to give the salvage to.
  4. Trade from the freebie back to the primary account.

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

Note the freebie has to be Tier 2 to trade, so a freebie account wouldn't actually work. For $5 though you could have a permanent mule character though, at least on two servers anyway.

Edit: and to be less negative, I just emailed money from one toon to another and bought them. Sell on one toon for a decent price, try to buy on the other toon for a bit less. Might end up with more candy canes than you started.

Candy canes are currently selling for 200k to 130k on the market. If you're patient and willing to "buy low and sell dear" you should be able to do it fairly easily. Don't wait beyond the Winter Event though because prices will probably spike up and then your inf won't be worth as much.

Thanks for info and offers of help, everyone.

200,000 for a candy cane? Hmmm.... maybe I should just sell them for billions of inf. I have like 1,000.

Yesterday I saw them selling for around half that.

In recent years the price usually steadied around 20,000-50,000inf per after the first or second week of the event.

1,000 x 200,000 inf = 200,000,000, or a bit less than 200 million after market fees. And if you want them to sell, I'd price them around 170k, just so they actually will sell. Repurchase at around 135k ... assuming prices haven't dropped to less. That's about where things were earlier this week.

Not sure, but I think it's:

1. Getting the winter stuff without having to grind for it.

2. Moving candy canes around to lower level toons easier than one at a time through email.

That's basically why I'm doing it anyway. Send several emails with 10,000,000 inf. A lower level toon grabs one email, buys a bunch of candy canes, and voila, I have what I need "transferred" to that toon.

Anyone who doesn't want to purchase the winter holiday pack but wants the costume parts would be attracted to this method.

That doesn't match my experience.

*shrug* I've left bids like that overnight and come back the next day and seen them filled.

I question your memory on this, since last year I maintained a pretty steady candy cane flipping project throughout the event (the original timeframe anyway, I didn't continue when they extended it) and my buy price was much higher than that... I think around 100-200k but my spreadsheet doesn't list it, so...

(edit) It was about 100k. I found my report from last year:

http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...ght=candy+cane

I don't doubt you got some at a lower price, but they most certainly did not stabilize at that price after a week or two.

I know all hell was running a very active candy cane trade as well last year.

Edit: HOWEVER, I would not be surprised to see them drop that low, or even lower, this year and stay there. The event went on for a LONG time last year, and there are a lot of canes out there. Add to that the fact that people can outright buy the costume pack now, and there's plenty of supply to fill demand. i saw that coming last year and didn't bother to get into canes this year... not enough RoI.

Final Edit I Swear: I now see where the the difference in our memories may come from. The event was originally two weeks. That was the length of time my project ran. In that time, stable prices were 100-300k. They then extended the event for a full month, during which time I did not trade canes at all. So I revise my statement above as follows:

They most certainly did not stabilize at lower than 100k at any point during the first two weeks. They might have stabilized lower than that after two weeks, but I don't know.

At any rate, it's a moot point because as I said, I have no doubt they will be cheap as free this year.

Anything's possible. I know that they definitely dropped sub-100k/ea, but maybe not quite as low as 20,000.

And I agree that with the Holiday Pack on the store, there may be a more plentiful supply of candy canes floating around at lower prices.

See the many, many edits to my post above. After re-reading my post from back then I think I see why our memories may differ.
