  1. My two goals since the big announcement of HORROR have been to get my 7-year-old tank to tier 4 alpha and to get my original main character (an 8-year-old Rad/Psy defender) purpled out so she could face Mot. I played only the first year (2004-2005) and the last year (2011-2012) of the game, so I do not have dozens of 50s, but I love my two guys a ton and will miss them.

The tank is perfect and earned enough inf to purple out the defender, who is a lot harder to solo.

My 4- and 6-year old sons have been anxiously watching me go through the Dark Astoria arc one hour a day for the last week or so. I explain what is going on and they're totally into it. Yesterday, I got my final alpha power (tier 2, as far as I will get). Tomorrow we auto-complete the David Hazen's journal mission and go up against the Embodiment of Mot for the first and last time with my original main.

I'm really anxious about the Blue Steel/Honoree/Recluse/etc. AI team. Wish us luck.

p.s., the NCLauncer on my Mac still says "Play Free Forever" every time I log in. Ouch.

I am noticing this, too. Sorcery is showing up during respec on live servers, but linking to the store doesn't work.
  3. How long does it last? I can't find that information anywhere. Are all procs going to be 60 or 120, or is this a 10 second benefit?
  4. And, how would it work in a more generic Build Up power that already had buildup?
  5. How would the Chance for Build Up 5% proc work if it were in the Tactics power?
  6. These are really good suggestions. Thanks everyone! I like the devouring earth and wisp suggestions, young good guys, the animal heads, and the strategies suggested.

It's okay if the enemy is humanoid, as long as they don't use powers that are too easy to imitate in a bad way. So, sonic blaster powers are not a big deal (yell at the bully until he runs away), while mace powers (mercilessly beat down your enemies with a baseball bat) are probably not what I want to see imitated in my house
  7. Okay, so my pre-teen boys are becoming superhero freaks and LOVE flying my alts around Ouroboros, doing costume changes, running around my base. They might be ready for the next stage of play.

I'm looking for some suggestions for very easy but viable AE missions I might design:

    1. Mobs that are not humanoid (I'm thinking about Rularuu watchers, Banished Pantheon spirits, Storm Elementals, etc., but these all seem like difficult fights).

    2. Powers within power sets that are less scary and less punching/shooting/throwing violent (like Sonic blasters, psychic powers, plant controllers)

    3. Sample AE missions I might look at to get some kid-friendly ideas.

Any other ideas for creating an "E for Everyone" mission or two?

    Thaks.
  8. I have started using this in Snow Leopard and it works pretty well. Lists of powers are invisible, but mousing over them shows what you're about to pick, so that's an easy workaround. Picking an ancillary/patron power pool is a little tricky, as I think the list needs to be dragged a bit to reveal the final two powers, but I think I can jimmy it and get it to work.

The one thing that seems to be broken is that there's no way to drag a slot, so if I make a mistake I have to start over from scratch (Shift click doesn't work). Is there an easy way to edit the source file to move slots around?
  9. Is there a list of mission maps by size (ticket max) anywhere?
  10. Hmm . . . it seems I can't use this storage solution if I drop to Premium, which I'll probably be long-term, so the question becomes a little pointless.
  11. In need of increased storage, and trying to figure out from Wiki and these boards if I can get a personal base and add

    Invention Worktable
    Enhancement Storage
    Inspiration Storage
    Salvage Storage
    Recipe Storage

to it, and not have that subject to raids by others. There's a ton of information, much of which is marked out-of-date. I simply can't tell what's what. Any advice?
  12. Scrapper. Thanks for your feedback, everyone.
  13. Added Going Rogue to my account, finally. I've always wanted to play a Kinetics/Shield character, but am trying to figure out whether to play a brute or a scrapper. Aside from the standard constant spike/built spike difference, is there a strong argument for either archetype?

The character, of course, will be an extremely skinny 4' tall girl.

No, it doesn't work every single time, but I'm not sure that anything does.
Thanks! I'm going to try Zap with backup/break sightlines! With I24, it sounds like snipe powers are going to get an Assassin's Strike–like instant-fire aspect, which will make it useful in several different ways. I'll take Teleport Foe later if it seems needed.
  15. Playing around with my new elec/elec blaster. Fun.

How do Challenge and Teleport Foe compare tactically as single-target pulls?

The Sustain attribute grants increased regeneration and recovery to upgrade to the following Blaster secondary powers; . . . Lightning Clap, and Conserve Power.
I'm looking most seriously at electric and energy as secondaries for this Electric Blaster. But—what exactly is Sustain? I imagine I'd use Conserve Power whenever it came up and invest at least a little recharge into it, but I can't imagine using Lightning Clap very much as a hoverblaster.
  17. I've never played a blaster and was going to set one up prior to the new issue coming out. I have the costume, name and concept picked out, basically a winged, arcane Electrical Blast blaster who flies and uses lightning.

    1. What's a good secondary that fits with a magical/arcane character concept (i.e., not devices or martial arts) that works well with electricity?

    2. Is electric/electric sapper-like enough to actually gain any level of control by draining opponent energy?
  18. I have a bunch of respecs available in email, from veteran reward tokens. Are those per account (I can only use them on one character and they're gone) or are those usable for each character I have?

Perhaps you are referring to the human skull codpiece. While I find this somewhat not-tasteful at least it is SOMETHING. Oh, sweet gods, at least it is SOMETHING.
  21. His crotch was like a red red rose
    That’s newly sprung in June;
His crotch came with a melodie,
    The "logging in now" tune.

So fair wast thou, broad Statesman's crotch,
    So deep in awe was I;
And I will grimace still, eye sore,
Till a’ the seas gang dry.

Till a’ the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi’ the sun:
And I will grimace still, my dear,
While the sands o’ life shall run.

And fare thee weel, great Statesman's crotch
And fare thee weel, a while!
And do not come again, great crotch,
Tho’ it were ten thousand mile.
  22. Hi, Okay, I played a lot in the first two years of the game and have recently come back. I love the new aspects of the game (architect, alignment, inventions, etc.), but I find myself out-levelling content, sticking in dead-end story arcs, running out of contacts and then just doing tip missions.

Is there any resource for DIRECTED NARRATIVES, or something like that? Something like: what to do at which levels that emphasizes fun storylines and accolades that grant powers (which exploration/history badges to grab along the way, when to grab a patron pool redside)? Solo (hour at a time) and Team (task forces and respec trials) options? Sometimes I play by myself and sometimes with friends.

I understand that end-game content is important for longtime players, but coming back as a "new" player is just exhausting from the standpoint of trying to figure out how to balance efficiency and fun. "Just do what looks fun" doesn't really work anymore—in-game storylines and text often all seem equally fun at first and it's hard to determine which are going to be awesome skin-of-the-teeth ambush fights with action music and which are going to be "escort your contact to the exit at 'walk' speed for the next ten minutes."

It would be fun to plan out like six different characters and do different story arcs with them Red/Blue/Praetoria all the way through level 50. I just don't know if there's a sensible resource for doing that. Places where missions have been rated, maybe? One-page documents on how to guide a character all the way through an alien/magic/WWII style story?

I tried this. I do not have a file folder tree like this, but I put it in the coh directory that I get when I simply inspect contents. It does not give me the image I uploaded, but it gives me some gigantic 12x16 or so pixelated gibberish. This is SO MUCH BETTER than the Statesman Crotch screen, that I don't mind if it's not really an image. Thank you!
