We all know the word for an Unstoppable Force is Juggernaut. Is there a word for an Indestructible/Invincible object?

I have been trying to find a word for it in English but havent discovered one. I only ask cause a term describing a indestructible object might help me conceptually.

Thanks : )

Juggernaut was orignally a Hindu idea. From Wikipedia:

The word is derived from the Sanskrit Jagannātha (Devanagari जगन्नाथ) "world-lord", one of the names of Krishna found in the Sanskrit epics.[1]
The English loanword juggernaut in the sense of "a huge wagon bearing an image of a Hindu god" is from the 17th century, inspired by the Jagannath Temple in Puri, Orissa, which has the Ratha Yatra ("chariot procession"), an annual procession of chariots carrying the murtis (statues) of Jagannâth (Krishna), Subhadra and Balabhadra (Krishna's elder brother).

I guess a similar mythological word for a immovable defence could be "Aegis"

The other word that popped into my head, meaning literally
"indivisible" ie cannot be divided further is "atomic", but that has all the wrong connotations now.

The unmoving fixed point in a lever system is the "Fulcrum"

Looks like CoX has already appropriated most of these words

Yeah I seek a single noun to describe a indestructible/invincible/ immovable object or thing but it suprisingly seems the English language is missing such a word.

Words like Castle and Mountain come to mind but it doesnt directly have the same meaning

lol maybe someone can recommend their Tankers/Brute name to the English group of scholars or whoever makes new words for the creation of this new word.

There are a number of potential words, but they're not necessarily pleasing to the eye or ear. "Immutable", for one. Not to mention "indestructible", "invincible", or "immovable" themselves. When speaking of the properties, one can make these nouns. If one is looking for a specific object (such as juggernaut), chances are the properties will be metaphorical or mythical and the word for the object would be a proper noun or a word with non-English origins anyway. In which case we have things like the aforementioned Adamant and Aegis. Or ziggurat, for that matter, which I might call the 'immovable object' counterpart to the 'unstoppable force' of a juggernaut.

Nothing as a >noun< comes to mind...

And there really exists nothing in this universe that IS invincible/indestructible.

Not even Black Holes. They evaporate over time. Time is the solvent for all things...

And even TIME is not invincible, for it is malliable by gravity.

Not even the Universe itself is infinite in it's ability to endure. It too shall end, whether in a Big Crunch, or a Long Dark Teatime of the Soul type thing.

Therefore, no word can exist for a non-existent thing. QED as it were.

There's no such thing as an unstoppable object, either, yet we still have a noun for that. We have words for lots of things that don't and very probably can't exist.

Unfortunately, I can't think of any good nouns for this specific concept.

I do not agree with that. Just because it does not exist technically does not mean there should not be a word for it. The same could be said of an Unstoppable Force but is any force truely unstoppable? Mostly the word Juggenaut is used as an exaggeration. Its often used to describe military forces who achieve a series of successes. For example, several history books refer to the Japanese armed forces as the Japanese Juggernaut during their series of early victorys in World War Two (December 1941 -May 1942). Yet they were nevertheless stopped.

The point is the word for indestructible/immovable object can exist as a NOUN cause there are already adjectives that exist to explain it anyway. So by your logic since nothing it truely indestructible, invincible, or immovable we should remove the words indestructible, invincible and immovable from the English language.

As Obscure mentioned, Adamant works as a Noun.

From Dictionary.com:
Quote:
adamant
[ad-uh-muhnt, -mant]

adjective
1. utterly unyielding in attitude or opinion in spite of all appeals, urgings, etc.
2. too hard to cut, break, or pierce.

noun
3. any impenetrably or unyieldingly hard substance.
4. a legendary stone of impenetrable hardness, formerly sometimes identified with the diamond.
I would also argue that Juggernaut doesn't actually have anything specifically to do with being unstoppable. It may be the common usage of the word, but if you want to be technical about the "Indestructable Object" definition then you've got to be technical about the "Unstoppable Force" deffinition too.

Quote:
Jug·ger·naut
[juhg-er-nawt, -not]

noun
1. (often lowercase) any large, overpowering, destructive force or object, as war, a giant battleship, or a powerful football team.
2. (often lowercase) anything requiring blind devotion or cruel sacrifice.
3. Also called Jagannath. an idol of Krishna, at Puri in Orissa, India, annually drawn on an enormous cart under whose wheels devotees are said to have thrown themselves to be crushed.

This was answered in the first response. Adamant has a noun usage, and is exactly what you asked for.

'I don't like the look of it at all,' said the King: 'however, it may kiss my hand if it likes.'
'I'd rather not,' the Cat remarked.
'Don't be impertinent,' said the King, 'and don't look at me like that!' He got behind Alice as he spoke.
'A cat may look at a king,' said Alice.
