Watchmen 2: Electric Boogaloo
Well they already produced a sequel to DKR that was garbage. Can't say I'm surprised.
Just get Jeph Loeb to write it and at least we'll get some entertainment out of the trainwreck.

well some more official art would prolly be better to judge, the fine print on the very bottom of that art says that its just a parody fan art lol
That pic is just a joke from the OP, yo.
I propose that "Electric Bogaloo" as the default title for sequels should be phased out and replaced with "The Legend of Curly's Gold".

Bleeding Cool, having apparently placed a mole within DC's editorial department to leak news about DC's unauthorized-by-Alan-Moore sequel/prequel/whatever to Watchmen, is now reporting that Andy Kubert will be involved with drawing part of the series.
DC isn't commenting, and everyone is afraid to ask Alan Moore. |
I still love The Simpsons take on the Watchmen prequel. I also imagine Alan Moore is NOT acting like this picture tonight....
Go Team Venture!
Regarding my thoughts about this project...
I am not for it.
Sure, it is one hell of a cash grab for DC to pass up. However, Watchmen was such a serendipity of everything going right (right writer at his peak / perfect political environment in real world / ahead of the curve with grim-n-gritty comics / unparalleled use of the comic medium to tell a story) that any other stories are unneeded and will only taint the legacy a la The Phantom Menace.
EDIT: Also, there is a TON of prequel material already in the current storyline BUT not in comic form. The 'bonus material' at the end of each issue was fantastic and fleshed out the characters / story successfully.
Go Team Venture!
Further unofficially confirmed details are emerging: Darwyn Cooke writing a Comedian book, Joe and Andy Kubert drawing as a father/son team on a Nite Owl I & II book, and Dave Gibbons's participation to be passive at best.
There's still no formal statement from Alan Moore, although rumors suggest that his beard is ready to rampage.
Huh.
I just realized Alan Moore looks like Cthulhu.

I doubt Alan Moore cares, but I'm sure he will think up some juicy quotes for the inevitable interview question.
Sigh. I understand the whole "it's a business, we need to make money" thing, but really? The Watchmen don't need a sequel and/or prequel. As BlackSun stated, there's already a ton of prequel stuff in the books, and the comic itself ends perfectly. Sure, there is some ambiguity about how the world will proceed, and whether Rorschach's journal will cause things to revert, but I'd much prefer the ambiguity than to have a ham-fisted company spell things out.
It's almost like George Lucas is a board member of DC...
I find your lack of signature disturbing.
Dr. Todt's theme.
