I was GOING to take a break....

*shakes fist at complete inability to temporarily lose access to the game despite canceling sub*

That's really the part I hate about Freedom the most, I can't take a break from the game anymore, even when there's no Loyalty program.

Well, that part actually makes me feel BETTER about things. Because I can take a break (eventually, maybe), but still "drive back down to Paragon" for a visit once a week or so. Maybe twice a week. Okay, three times TOPS.

I'm not tired of the game. This is my favorite game ever. But, you know. Been playing a couple years. Got a pile of never-played single-player games across Steam, GOG, Gamers Gate-- summer sales and daily deals and stuff. Sometimes it's good to walk away from something for a bit, so you can come back to it with fresh eyes. I've noticed I haven't had as many new character ideas these past few months.

I think I am taking that break. The really slow release of content and repetitive content is no match for the power of the Force.

I do like this game but it has become the same old, same old. Nothing too exciting or wild here. Anyway, I may use the Freemium route but that will depend on how I make out in a galaxy far, far away

I haven't actually played in 2 weeks. Just can't get past the character select screen.

No one pays attention to me, cause I listen to the voices in my head.

Same, but getting closer to 2 months. I run the launcher and then close it.

skyrim and zelda , and lost souls before them have taken some time for me, but might do some catch up this thanksgiving break. i have been playing WAY too much skyrim lately. not dropping vip though, thanks to those 14 month things, im here till january 2013 at the earliest, and given the broadening of the incarnate tsystem from the new incarnate zone, im unlikely to go at any time, gamble packs or not.

Didn't really intend to make a CoH smack-talk thread.

This is an excuse I can't see myself ever being able to make. Most of the time, when I go to load up City of Heroes, content that Paragon Studios has produced is not the first thing on my mind. So much of this game (for me) is based around MY content, the characters and stories *I've* carved into my corner of the game universe, as well as the friendships I've formed. Issue 14 (Mission Architect) is what brought me to City of Heroes. Since then, I've been introduced and surprised by many wonderful stories both official and unofficial. City of Heroes re-sparked my interest in comic books too (they're not just for kids anymore). Most importantly, over the past two years, in creating my roster of characters, I've stoked a greater fire upon my imagination which has helped me elsewhere in life. That makes City of Heroes valuable to me in ways that few video games can be.

My want for a break has more to do with me than with City of Heroes. I just think it's healthy to "take a vacation" every once in a while from things you've spent a lot of time with. I already have other interests that take up my time (especially writing and reading), so it would be hard for me to split my entertainment time between different games.

It's not enough for me, but I understand and sympathize with your plight.

In my 7 years I've actually taken breaks of up to 8 months to play other MMOG's, just for a change of pace. I just got CoD2 off Steam and am amazed how scarily immersive that game is. So I'm dividing my time between CoH and that now. But in all those times away I've never let my subscription lapse. I'm CoX to the core.

Yeah, I may go ahead and take a short break but I'll definitely leave my subscription on, otherwise I'll kick myself later for not doing the loyalty program.
