Red-Side VIP Archetypes?

Now that almost all archetypes are made to go through the new Galaxy City Tutorial, why aren't the Red-Side VIP Archetypes also made to go through it? Just curious.

Try my 3 MArcs: I.D.#67166:Protect the Artifacts!! I.D.#97724:Level-Up Time. I.D.#243803:Witch War! Salem vs. Croatoa!

They're Lore driven. That and they don't get to choose to be heroes.

That sucks! That means, that the Red-Side VIP Archetypes that I already have created will have to go through Praetoria, in order to become Heroes! Darnit! Oh, well, more work.

Just to be perfectly clear, you are talking about the VEATs (Villain Epic Archetypes), correct? (Hero epics also don't go through the tutorial, so they have the same forced side switching to become villains).

VEATs can't be started in Praetoria either, so you don't have to/get to do anything in Praetoria to be a hero, you just have to start redside and work through the alignment system.

The VIP Restricted (unless you pay for them) archetypes (Mastermind/Controller) can be started on any side.

The reason VEATs don't go through the tutorial is because they have a completely different origin from other characters. They are Arachnos minions (by definition Villains) who have decided to try to grab some power and fame by putting themselves on the Destined One list. They can later choose to become Rogues or go all the way to Hero, just like other villains can, but a newly created level 1 VEAT is basically a generic Arachnos henchman who has decided to become a lot less generic and make a name for themselves. They don't have any mechanical need to do the tutorial since you have to have a level 20+ villain to make one (and therefore aren't a new player) and there's no real way for it to make sense story-wise for them to do so, so they skip it and instead run a unique starting mission that sets them up with the standard initial villain contact. Basically they get an alternate intro based on their background, as do Kheldians heroside.

I still think its dumb that they force this on players. They should just give a minor warning that you are missing part of the story and just let you switch sides fully knowing well you can switch back if you want to experience the full story. I just hate it when the devs cave into role-players.

When the devs... seriously?

EATs getting to do the new tutorial was never on the table. The developers deciding that the plot of their game at least had to make a passing attempt at pretending to be cohesive has nothing to do with roleplayers.

Agenda much? Christ.

@Draeth Darkstar
Virtue [Heroes, Roleplay], Freedom [Villains], Exalted [All Sides, Roleplay]
Code:
I24 Proc Chance = (Enhanced Recharge + Activation Time) * (Current PPM * 1.25) / 60*(1 + .75*(.15*Radius - 0.011*Radius*(360-Arc)/30))
Single Target Radius = 0. AoE Non-Cone Arc = 360.

Oh yes. EPIC AT meaning EPIC storyline. Meaning, you start out on the EPIC story.

Wow. Mind sharing what your smoking?

If what he's smoking will make me think like that, I'll pass, thanks.

It's not about role-playing, it's about the character's origins. Epic ATs have a completely different origin than standard characters... it's the equivalent of how in other MMOs different races or classes go through different starting areas. VEATS start off by breaking into an Arachnos base and adding their name to the Destined One list, Kheldians start off by running some missions for Sunstorm, and other ATs start off by helping out in the Galaxy City attack. EATs can choose to completely ignore their AT-specific missions if they want to... they don't even have to do the first one if they'd rather just run sewers until they can start getting contacts from radio / paper missions (just like normal ATs can skip the tutorial and starting contacts). But regardless of whether or not you actually do the unique missions part of the character's background is defined by the AT: all VEATs are former Arachnos goons (whatever else they might be) and all HEATS are people who volunteered to join with a Kheldian to become a hero (even if they intended all along to turn villain and abuse that power once they got it). EATs have already made the initial choice to be a hero or villain as a part of becoming a Kheldian or SoA (though again, they can change later) and they aren't in Galaxy City when it is attacked because they are busy elsewhere doing their initial AT-specific mission. Even if they tell their initial contact to go to hell and just join a sewer team instead of actually doing the missions they were still there talking to him when the Shivans hit so they missed the action.

Mine don't.

My huntsman is a former TV personality who has no connection to Arachnos and has never been put on any special lists besides FBI most wanted.

An idea largely abandoned because of the inconvenience and fracturing of the player base it causes.

The EAT lore is a total mess. VEAT's are trying to get on to a 'destined one' list that doesn't exist because the 'destined one' storyline was removed.

HEAT's have to go and defeat 10 Council while remaining blissfully unaware that the Battalion (You know, those people who used them as ship fuel) just blew up Shadowstar's hangout spot. Even she doesn't seem to notice that some of her mortal enemies just took a crap on her front porch, so absorbed has she been trying to rescue that Shadowcatcher guy for like 6 years.

I know the whole point is for EAT's to be "story driven," but if the stories aren't going to be updated enough that they're relevant to the current state of the game I think the argument is moot. I totally support letting EAT's do the shiny new tutorial so they can blow up the big brain-alien creature too.

And that's an RP choice, not a game choice.

Actually your character is a former Arachnos minion who was convinced by a sexy secretary (who was secretly a Nemesis automaton) to leave Arachnos and put his name on the Destined Ones list. After completing a series of tasks for the secretary, he discovered she was an automaton (details left out how as this is a family website). Because Nemesis had future plans requiring his unwitting assistance, rather than killing him, they tricked the Carnival of Shadows into erasing his memory and replacing it with a story about being a former TV personality.
