Chuck is back tonight! Followed by Grimm

Well...that was a big ol' pile of CoV boxes right in the foreground and very visible. With a couple of CoH boxes thrown in for good measure. Would be nice if they had GR boxes though. And the Halo Wars poster in the background.

It may just be me, but Sarah was looking kinda...rough around the edges...at that presentation.

Nice to see Green Arrow is getting work after Smallville went off the air.

Great to see Frank Lapidis too. Not to mention Trinity. Chuck gets great guest stars.

On the other hand I have come to hate Morgan. I know it's the malfunctioning intersect but I actually found myself hoping that somebody would kill him this episode and that his death would be something the team had to deal with. I'm considering not watching any more episodes till Morgan is back to normal. He grates on me just like Pulaski did on STTNG.

I'm not convinced that it's actually malfunctioning. I'm starting to think that that is what it was the Intersect is supposed to do. Chuck was somehow special. Either that or the glasses were a trap from that CIA guy with an altered program that slowly overwrites the subject's base personality.

Chuck was special, he'd already been exposed to a rough version as a kid, and had to wear the watch to regulate the Intersect. They've already established the Intersect screws with a person's brain, so someone's already carrying the Idiot Ball this season.

Now that was an awesome Chuckisode. From the thinking juice to the nudists to Lester's ruling of the prison to the kaboom.

Just watched it and I have to agree. I also like the homage to the Matrix that they threw in. When Chuck first starts working on the virus the screen is the rain of green symbols.

Just watched the two Grimms. I'm definitely enjoying this series but one thing about it is tremendously annoying. Virtually every one of the beings seems to be intimidated and frightened by Nick. But so far his only Grimm power seems to be the ability to see them for what they are. Every one of the whatevers he encounters has some kind of supernatural speed or strength or something ability but they all see him as a threat.

I just want the freaking series to start showing what some of his Grimm powers are. Because if the only ability of a Grimm is true sight then the Grimms would have been wiped out long ago. Right now Nick seems to be the Xander of the Grimm world. Only surviving because he has befriended the ones with the real power.

And Community cameos!

I felt this was easily one of the better episodes this season so far. Loving the whole storyline with Jeff and Lester, and that his "normalness" wasn't just a one-episode gag.

I'm pretty sure the Grimm's only 'power' is the ability to see monsters where normal people don't. I've been figuring that the fear that's being shown to Nick is because the Grimms probably have a long history of not so much caring if the monster was good or not and just killing them when they were found. They've basically been the 'real-life' ghost story for the monsters growing up.

You'll also note it's mostly only been the ones who are trying to fit in with society who are acting really afraid.

I think the other power the Grimms have, beside the reputation and the ability to see is their methodical documentation of each species strengths and weaknesses as seen in Friday's episode. The books, supplies and weapons in his aunt's trailer may be a Grimm's true advantage.

It's also possible that he does have speed and strength, as seen in his dying aunt fighting the much larger reaper in the Pilot, it's just either it hasn't manifested or he just doesn't realize it yet.

Cool show.
Agree with point 1.
Point 2, I just thought his aunt was a good fighter having honed her skills over time versus having augmented strength and speed.
Bruce Lee fought Kareem Abdul-Jabar easy enough

I'm not really sure if the 'point 1' is so much a power as it is a byproduct of being the only people who can see strange, unusual and sometimes superhuman creatures living among us. Not only as a means of documenting their weakness for their descendants (because who else is going to do that) but also as a way of both telling fantastic stories and somehow warning the general populace (Grimm's fairy tales). I mean we haven't seen Nick documenting anything so far.

I'll actually be kind of disappointed if Nick ever gets any sort of super powers. It'd be like if suddenly Dean from Supernatural or any of the normal monster hunters from any number of novels developed super powers. It kind of becomes a let-down at that point.

I didnt take it to mean a power literally like laser beam eyes or frost breath, but like what you said..."a byproduct".
Maybe when he runs across some species thats not in the book, he may document it.

Really? Somehow I've missed that.

One of the things I've noticed is that apart from the Hexenbeasts, pretty much all of the "demons" are just human/animal hybrids. There's been bees, wolves, bears, rats, pigs, and whatever the repairman was. It also seems like much more of the animals in the show are trying to live normal lives. I'd like to see more dangerous animals that need to be taken out, I'd like to see another Grimm brought into the picture even if it's just briefly, and I'd really like them to speed up the wife's arc. My guess is that she ends up leaving him or dying after she learns the truth about him.

True, true.

"I'd like to see more dangerous animals that need to be taken out, I'd like to see another Grimm brought into the picture even if it's just briefly..."

We'll see how this plays out...
Captain Renard, Nick's politically adept superior officer and a descendant of a powerful line of Grimm royalty.

don't you mean Reaper royalty, not Grimm royalty?

I'm guessing the Grimms and the Reapers have a long connection. Given the names, it could be they were once part of the same group, i.e the Grimm Reapers.

I dont really know which it is, I pulled that off the interwebz (probably wrong).

The Grimms are the guys like the detective. Humans that keep the monsters in check.

The Reapers are the guys hunting the Grimms. That's the guy that shot the old lady in the pilot and the one the former Caprican mafioso sliced an ear off of. They are identified by their scythes that say Reaper of Grimms.

Thanks DO, got that part figured out after 1st couple of shows. I was speaking specifically about the line I pulled from off the internet:

"Captain Renard, Nick's politically adept superior officer and a descendant of a powerful line of Grimm royalty."

Seems like he'd be some kind of Reaper royalty like Bubba pointed out, but that quote is directly from the Grimm NBC.com site so I dont know how its all tied in especially since he had a Reaper bowing down to him a couple of episodes ago.

80s may have a good hunch based on his post...
