I don't agree that Batman: TAS is far back on the list of important, they did a lot of stuff that children's cartoons just didn't do back then. It was also probably the first children's cartoon that, for the most part, handled its subject matter in a mature manner (yeesh, say that 5 times fast). I can't think of any other cartoon before B:TAS that had nearly as much depth.
I didn't say "far" back on the list i said "farther" as in not #1... I would say that the Fleischer Superman cartoon and Superfriends are more important than BtAS. And if you are talking about Manga adapted as well Astroboy, DragonBall, Sailor Moon, and Death Note are also probably more important or as important

Important in what way?

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

Pretty sure it had three seasons; although, iirc, only two are on DVD.

Batman: The Animated Series was indeed the best I ever seen on TV and that and the X-men Cartoon was epic.

important in the way that without them Modern animation would be completely different.

Without the DragonBall and Death Note BtAS would likely have been nothing like it was. The popularity of those two shows allowed for a stylistically different and more grown up animated series.

Without DragonBall and SailorMoon a lot of good animated shows would not have existed in america because those shows only were allowed to come here because of the popularity of their predecessors.

I'm sorry...what? In what way, shape, or form did Death Note pave any paths for BtAS? I'm not following you.

By way of Time travel!

Although I'm pretty sure the television series came before the comic strip, the British animated series Danger Mouse should rank up there with the best of them and DM had one heck of a long run on television from 1981-1992.

Thx. Now I'll have that theme song stuck in my head all day.

If the television series came before the comic strip, then Danger Mouse can't be part of the list, as the list was about series based on comics.

To others in the thread...Batman is #1 for lots of reasons, being that good is one of them, for one thing B:TAS is what lead to JLU. However, what Batman did was do a show that was set up for adults.

This wasn't intended to be just a kid show, this was created to be a late night show for adults. That's why its original air time was not early morning.

Though I think the 90's Spider-Man should of been in the list myself.

That's such a stretch the elasticity is gone and it won't snap back.

Yep...this list is alright
Yeah, there would have been blood if that hadn't been #1.

Have to agree with the OP in switching #4 and 5...Superfriends might have paved the way, but JLI was amazing.

Glad "The Tick" made it on there. If only they could ever release The Tick vs. Season 3 on DVD.

Arc# 92382 -- "The S.P.I.D.E.R. and the Tyrant" -- Ninjas! Robots! Praetorians! It's totally epic! Play it now!

Arc # 316340 -- "Husk" -- Azuria loses something, a young woman harbors a dark secret, and the fate of the world is in your hands.
