Asset updates to fix graphical glitches is the most likely culprit since if there was anything new to be added to the game for next weeks store it could be done next Tuesday anyway.
That's the only reason I personally can think given that they broke the usual Tuesday=Patchday rule with it.

Post about server down turns into a lesson on spelling and forum etiquette. 
Think none provoking positive feedback! Like the servers will probably be back soon. They may be expecting lots of traffic this weekend, and if they don't do downtime now lag could be an issue over the weekend.
When the rate of deception is high - many honestly naive questions may be quickly rejected as trolling. This can be quite off-putting to the new user who upon venturing a first posting is immediately bombarded with angry accusations. Calling someone a troll without posting positive feedback is passive aggressive trolling, so don't do it, stupid.

Yesterday's patch ate almost all of my game time. Not only did it take forever to download but CoH then threw an error and evidently the repair was downloading it again.
