How do you get the Mentoring badges now?

How does the game calculate "mentoring time" for the purposes of the Mentoring Badges now that sidekicking is handled automatically and isn't based on pairing up a particular mentor with a particular sidekick anymore?

Everyone is SKed to the team leader, so only the team leader gets credit.

At least when you're running a mission, you're SKed to the mission holder... does that still only count towards the team leader, though?

That's...a good question.

Well, unless someone already knows the answer to it... there's an easy way to test!

Make two new characters (one on each of two accounts), and then log them in overnight, team them, and enter the mission of the person that isn't the star... when the night is over, whoever has more progress determines who gets credit!

Interesting enought, you must also get credit towards the badges when you are a Team Leader on a iTrial. The other night I was surpised to see one been granted on one of my characters while I was during the Underground trial.

In a similar vein, do you make progress faster when you have seven teammates versus one?

Same progress in my experience.

I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.

In my experience of running a character from 8 to 50 teamed with a higher level character but doing both our missions, I did get credit toward the mentoring badges when my mission was set.

In Paragon City since June 2005.

Whoever is the active "sidekicker" gets the credit, i.e. whoever is at the top of the team list, setting the active level.

While a mission is set, the mission holder gets mentoring credit. While a mission is not set, the team leader is the one that has the star, and they get mentoring credit.

Presumably, though, credit is still only awarded for those teammates who are lower level than the current mentor, right?

Based on what Badaxe said, no, level doesn't matter. Level didn't matter in the old system wrt the badge... it's just that you couldn't sidekick someone if they weren't 3+ (IIRC) levels under you, so you could never try.

Not according to my experience.

Interesting.

Well, those Mentoring badges will get earned a lot faster now I imagine!

Correct, level doesn't matter - even if you are the same level as the star/mission holder, you are still technically sidekicked. Sidekicking is now teamwide, no matter what - you can't refuse to be sidekicked anymore without simply quitting the team.

I spent most of last evening/night running missions as star/mission holder with my fiance and a friend, fiance being the same level as me (level pact) and friend alternating being the same level and one higher (darn XP boosters! ), and I still got the first badge and considerable progress on the second.

(completely unrelated tangent: SPRING ATTACK IS FULL OF FUN. THE FPC [fun per cast] OF THIS POWER IS THROUGH THE ROOF!!!)

Only if you lead lots of teams or run on teams that are doing your missions. Otherwise, it could actually be slower.

True!

But I'm assuming that everyone will eventually start joining tips teams and will either lead them (by doing all the recruiting) or have their tips missions chosen by the team leader when his/her own run out.

*confused*

But what's wrong with "free", "prem" (or "preem" if you must misspell for phonetic affect rather than just abbreviate), and "VIP"?

Free is too close to pass up, and, "Preem" is a natural extension

I guess I just can't endorse anything that came from an April Fools Day joke or smells even a little like an Internet meme.

It was also directly lifted from Stephen Colbert, so it's not even a creative joke.
