Paragon Market Questions

Since we don't have a forum, I'm going to make a catch all thread. If it's just me in here asking, that's fine--so long as I get some answers. The short of it is, I have a bunch of old ex-players I'm trying to turn Premium. Some of them are even willing to pony up some cash to trick out/update their Premium accounts.

First question: The Paragon Market lists Going Rogue (Praetoria) and the Alignment System as separate items. I told them that this was just a marketing thing--multiple labels for the same product. That outside of the First Ward content (which was available for separate purchase), buying Going Rogue was the same as buying the Alignment System was the same as buying Praetoria.

Correct, or incorrect? Thanks!

Why can't I buy the new IDF costume pieces? They're in the store, but with no "Purchase" button, just "Wishlist." Why bother putting them in there if they're not available?

Because you already have 'em unlocked (I believe based on reward tier).

I seem to remember that one of the updates they're working on at the moment is to remove purchased content from the storefront entirely so as to be less confusing.

I can only see 3 "Going Rogue" related items on the store; The Alignment System, Preatoria Access and the Shadowy Presence power.

If you have the actual old Going Rogue expansion then you have Praetoria and the alignment system. But if you don't have the expansion purchased on your account and are going to buy it separate then they are different thing.

IE if you buy Going Rogue(Praetoria) in the Paragon Market you only gain access to that and can't switch sides. If you buy the Alignment system you don't have access to create and play Praetorian's.

Thank you.

So it's $15 for the Alignment System and $15 for access to Praetoria. And these never unlock as a Perk?

I've used that many, many times. But that, I would argue, disagrees with you entirely. It clearly says:

"City of Heroes Going Rogue™ which includes:

  • Four Power Sets (Dual Pistols, Demon Summoning, Kinetic Melee, Electric Control)
  • The Going Rogue Alignment System
  • Access to the world of Praetoria and all of its zones"
And indicates it as a single line-item purchase.

So what tier awards them, and why don't I have the option to purchase them anyways? I've bought and paid for lots of stuff in the store, and I can still hit "Buy" for that. What's the difference?

The difference is that the store is still incredibly immature and doesn't work consistently yet. Doing a bit more looking, it appears to be something that is automatically unlocked for VIPs.

"City of Heroes Going Rogue" used to be a boxed item, and it included those things. The VIP Starter Kit now includes what had previously been in the box.

If you buy things on the paragon market, they'll often be packaged differently than in boosters/boxed sets (i.e. the costume bundles vs the old boosters).

Yes, of course. Going Rogue, THE BOX, includes all of those. What you are purchasing on the Paragon Market is not the box, it is the digital bits and pieces from the box.

Can I access the Paragon Store without going in-game? I just got back from holiday and while I'm waiting for I21 to download, I thought I'd maybe have a look at what I can get.

Eco.

The Audition, Arc ID 221240 (6 mish, complex mech, comedy)

Oh well, I guess I'll watch some Life After People while i'm waiting.

if I purchase $15 worth of paragon points I get a reward point for the new rewards system.
How many points do I get for purchasing more than $15 at a time? There's no indicator for how many points I'd get, and the bulk options are NOT multiples of $15.

It's not $15, it's 1,200 points (the bonus points from buying points count- unlike the VIP stipend).

You get a reward token for every 1200 points you buy, as well as a bonus token the first time you buy points.

(Only the $15 and $100 packages are even multiples of 1200 points, but it does 'remember' the amount you purchased before, so 3 $5 purchases will give a token.)

Thanks! I was hoping that would be the case.

I've been subscribing since Nov 2004 continually, and I've bought every booster pack. How many points will i have, and what sort of stuff is there still left for me to buy?

At the moment? probably 1,750 (400 for July 1st, 400 for your July billing date, 400 for your August billing date, 400 for september, 150 for having 34+ tokens as of the Issue 21 launch).

The only 2 things that have been taken off the market are the VIP Headstart (6 server transfers pack) and the pirate costume code.

As to what you can buy:

Thanks. Is there some way of easily finding out what I don't have that's available? Can I accidentally buy something i already have?

You are not supposed to be able to buy something that you already own. It will let you put it into your shopping cart, though, then give you an error when you try to check out.

This is probably their top priority fix, since it's a horrible UI.

Easy, no. You can use /mypurchases though.

It shouldn't be possible to buy one-time unlocks repeatedly.
