Saying Hello

Hello, my super powered comrades.

I am the new kid on the block. My friend (a 6 year subscribing veteran) has been trying to convert me to CoH for some months now.

Yesterday, I finally caved and subscribed VIP and I have to say, I absolutely love it so far.

My main character's name is Bloodmoore, identical to my global handle and I play on the VIP server. If anyone wants to ever say hi or drop me a few hints and pieces of advice, please go right ahead.

Right now my guy is a level 11 time manip/energy blast defender (any awesome tips or tricks would be nice, one thing I've noticed is I run out of endurance super fast).

I will end my thread with a curious question. Am I the only one who has to drop everything I'm doing no matter what if I see a mugging or, far worse, a circle of thorns ceremony going on? Seriously, I'd probably be level 20 by now if I didn't try to stop every single crime in Paragon city.

Welcome! Always nice to have some new blood. My personal tip? Task forces. They're a great way to meet new people. The Death from below trial is the same

On my heroes I stop everything I 'see' happening. Normally this means right in front of me as all my heroes have poor peripheral vision. I will pass them up if on a timed mission however as the cities safety has to come first. I just can't resist intervening if I see an old lady surrounded by thugs.

Welcome to the forums, and to CoH. Glad you're enjoying it so far. I don't bother stopping crimes outside of missions, as the citizens of Paragon City seem pretty damn strong. They never end up getting robbed no matter how long you leave them struggling with a bad guy.

At level 11 there's not a huge amount you can do, other than 'slow down'. If you mash every power you can as fast as you can, you'll run out. If you wait half a second before activating your next power, or hold off on using that power don't really need to use to win the fight, you'll have more endurance. Joining a team helps, too, since you'll have teammates helping you kill things. Additionally, as a Defender, teammates can give you an endurance discount on your powers, based on the average health of the team.

At higher levels, when you have access to SO and IO enhancements, there's more you can do for yourself. The easiest is to slot the power Stamina with 2-3 Endurance Modification enhancements. That probably won't solve all of your problems on its own, especially since you'll have more powers by level 22. You can also slot your powers for endurance efficiency; that is, for a damage power, increase damage and reduce endurance cost (damage enhancements and endurance reduction enhancements). The less it costs, the less you use (obviously), and the more damage it does, the fewer times you have to use it, which costs you less.

That's a pretty common reaction. If you follow it to its logical end, you end up spending more time on petty street crime than you spend on the "real" dangers to the city. I finally had to adopt the attitude that if it's grey, it's not really "visible". heh

It is very amusing to drop in on a low level mugging on a level 50 character with a strong knockback attack, though. Look at that Hellion fly!

Also, the name Rapthorne gives me a terrible urge to Gigagash you. Terribly sorry about that, it's a reflex.

I've always loved bursting in on crimes on my way to missions. It gives me an enormous feeling of satisfaction despite the fact they're only fake people...

I need to get out more.

Welcome!

The Electricity Powerset is fabulous for returning endurance to you from the foes you are defeating, its a glorious thing and I love it! Furthermore, I feel even more powerful when I use "short circuit" to DRAIN their Endurance! oh ho ho, to be on the other side of the fence! Then they can't attack you, and you smash them easily! *Muahahahaha*

Of course, you have a lot to explore and see what you like the best, I thought you might enjoy that suggestion based on your end woes, fear not! There are a lot of things you can do to optimize your endurance as other posters have pointed out!

Cheers!
