Hello everyone,

I'm new to the game, just started a few days ago! I have a character here by the name of Captain Solaria, Hero, level 21 Corruptor (Energy/Radiation, solar-themed). She's looking for a Supergroup and especially a mentor; her bio follows:

Quote:
Civilian ID: Aliyah S. Lawson (Not a secret; public knowledge)
Age: 26
Theme: Defying Gravity - Wicked Cast
Hobbies: Karaoke, Wikipedia

Originally a lab technician with the Praetorian Police, meek nerd Aliyah S. Fields was thrust into the Powers Division when her experimentation turned a pair of her best friend's Hardsuit Gaunts into dimensional apertures to a Radiant Singularity. Strongly believing in obedience and loyalty, she fought the Resistance... until disturbing rumors forced her to confront reality. In a pitched gunfight, she said goodbye to her best friend, threw in her lot with the Resistance and faked her death before being smuggled out to Paragon City. In Paragon, she's become a registered hero attached with the PPD, Captain Solaria; she has been assigned a cover identity as Aliyah Lawson, the daughter of a prominent lawyer, who had been studying abroad until she recently made the scientific breakthrough that made her a superhero.
She was originally known as Lady Sunflash; ICly, she didn't feel it was a good title for herself, as it felt too much like putting on airs. OoCly, it did feel odd for the personality she eventually found herself with and I needed a different name since I rerolled her from a blaster version.

As I mentioned originally, brand new to the game, aside from a month screwing around with a friend's scrapper waaaaaaay back in Issue 9, I think it was. I don't even remember much out of that, and a lot has changed. Plus, I don't have that account.

Also, 'cause I'm vain:

Her combat suit!

Her 'ready to go in a moment, just let me teleport on my armor!' suit!

And that's her completely civvie. No idea what I should do with my other two slots when I get them. ^^

Thanks! Everyone's been so nice to me in this game. I'd like to get an SG, but it's not a special rush because people are so helpful.

Welcome to Virtue!

To be honest, I looked at the second picture, and went, "her skin is a little orange..." But the third made me go back and look closer, It's just the lighting. But it still looks great! Just try to avoid lighting from overhead and slightly behind when they give you the key to the city!

Don't say I'm out of touch with this rampant chaos your reality

Her skin tone actually is based on an orange, it seemed a better color when translated to flesh than the actual browns.

So no one has any SGs or characters to point her way for mentorship?

Welcome to City of Heroes, and the Virtue server

If you are looking to join an SG, I can recommend Justice Girls, a very active SG with lots of members, task forces and teaming opportunities. While it is a light-RP SG and there are members that don't RP, there are quite a few who do. Personally, I've had a very good time with them and can only recommend them

Another thing you'd maybe want to do is join some global channels - this is where the majority of teams are formed. Just type in "/chan_join Channelname"

A great one for normal teaming is
Virtue LFG Beta

And since you are an RPer, you might also like
Roleplayers LFT (<- For IC teams)
Roleplayers (<- For OOC chatter about roleplay, concepts, setting up RP events, RPSGs advertising for members etc.)
RP Virtue (<- Same as Roleplayers)

And last but not least, your character sounds like she'd get along great with my main hero, Elaine - while she is a somewhat young heroine herself and has only been active 6 months, she'd be more than glad to help someone adjust to life in Paragon. And the same goes for me OOCly, if you need help with anything, feel free to contact me ingame, the global name is @Riora.

A warning about Roleplayers; if you join, take everything with a grain of salt. A few members of that channel really like telling people their character concepts are invalid if they fail to meet certain concept guidelines, which is absolute BS.

Helloooooooo! I know you.

One thing I've learned is that finding a heavy roleplaying SG that you gel with can be very difficult. I've had minimal luck looking for one in the forums. Your best bet is to interact with people, when you see open world RP walk right up and get involved. Most open world RPers are friendly, except for the ones that aren't, but why would you want to get to know them anyway?

With several established global channels for RP and teaming, I don't feel the need for an SG like I used to. Sure, it'd be nice for my main characters to be part of a group, but not being in one can't stop her from being a part of the Virtue community.

Your best bet may be to wait till The Cape's SG/VG Appreciation Day on the 17th. Many of Virtue's SG/VGs will be opening their doors. I think of it as a career fair for SGs.

I think I teamed with you on a Moonfire TF yesterday on my cold/son fender while, very, very sleepy. Hope you're finding Virtue to your liking.
