Why won't people listen? MY RANT

This is EXACTLY why I chat it up during a team of any sorts. More friendly communication means more people willing to follow a few orders, because they've warmed up to the team already. Yes, some people leave due to my chatter, but numbers don't really bother me. If the team is fun to play with, I'm gonna have fun regardless.

We've also been trained to shoot/hack inanimate objects whenever possible.

Also: Nurburgring and Laguna Seca are brutal braking teachers, and far too common in racing games.

Rather intriguingly, I tend to assume by default that most of the current CoH playerbase is older than I am. (29 for the curious) And with that said, I'd argue that intelligence and incompetence aren't bound by age you'll find both awesome and horrible players regardless.

As I recall, someone did a study for a research paper and found the average age in this game was 28.

I don't need to read it, because I never lead groups.

Thing is, 99% of CoH can be played like that, particularly with an IOed + Incarnated character. No need to think, just kill em all.

Which is part of why I love this game

Ah...So you figured out early the fly likes the honey.

Thats my tactic too

And considdering I am hear impaired I find that chat is my communication over vent or toher mediums, so if Im chatting in a friendly manner most people listen and dont mind doing so if I happen to be leader.

That's because they are 2 of the most awesome real-world race tracks in existence.

I love those tracks in racing games.

This is... some kinda irony, isn't it? The only reason they are pathetic is the sheer number of speed runs that were done before Merits were introduced.

QFT.

And even after merits were introduced, Double XP Weekend brought upon teams of level 50s that would speed Katie TFs for hours on end due to the massive inf/time ratio.

This game doesn't require the drill sergeant personality type.

There's nothing in this game that can't be facerolled. Ordering people around isn't needed.

Then you are not reading...I gave one (!!) order/request for the entire TF. I didn't say, "Get behind the road" "Get out of Spawn spot" "Only flyers!!" Or any of the usual leader mantras on Katie. I simply asked them to do one thing. Hardly what I would call drill sergeant.

Yes, things can be facerolled, but that doesn't mean they always should be. If people has followed my ONE request, it would have gone faster. There were many deaths because people didn't listen. No, debt isn't a big deal anymore, death isn't huge, but this mentality of "do what I want because it will all work out, even if it takes longer" tends to frustrate me. Seeing people's responses, it clearly doesn't frustrate others.

I don't consider the directions you gave on your Katie to be 'barking orders' or 'playing the drill sergeant'. I agree with you that a little direction often helps.

There are often different methods of completing a given trial/TF. Generally, I don't really mind which method is used so long as it is clearly communicated. What I find to be frustrating is that something took longer than it had to because people weren't co-operating. Things are much more enjoyable when people are actually playing as a team, regardless of the method chosen.
