Okay I just saw it in the movies.. it was everything I wanted in conan. It was faithfull to the material.. but I see why the negative rating.. 10% talking 90%action.. The fighting was awesome, the blood reminds you of god of war game, the sword fighting was everything I expected. The villian was no push over,.. there was magic and naked women ... lots of jigglies around.. not to mention a sex scene, and how brutish Conan treated the women in the movie. (I.e. gaging one with a cloth to shut up, commanding others etc..) The movie was made for men LOL But there isn't much dialog from Conan .. he acted really good for the part its just not a deep story.. Its FRIGGIN CONAN... non-stop action from start to finish, decapatations, gory blood,.. a nose gets cut off,.. a man gets sliced in half from the waist,.. naked women running around... so much killing..many of which were inovative.. (felt like I was watching 1000 ways to die tv show LOL) it was awesome. I believe you can fit every word Adult Conan said in the movie on one sheet of paper.. Critics normally don't give high ratings to rated R movies like this LOL This movie was WORTH the money. The rating is low due to the graphic nature of the movie.. movies of this type typically do not get a high rating. THis movie has more blood, guts, gore, and killing and action than the arnold movies did. Watch it and I am sure everyone will agree this conan was one bad sob. *edit* I forgot to add that the narrator of the movie (in the begining) sounded like Morgan Freeman... |

Does Conan come in regular, or is it only in 3D? None of the theaters here in Memphis seem to be showing it in any version but 3D.
Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

The theater that I usually go to has this playing only in one stadium.
However, surprisingly that stadium has twice as many 2d showings as 3d.
Interestingly, the 2d showings are all 'matinee' showings and the ones strting at 8pm are all 3d.
Saw it. Loved it. Was everything I was hoping it would be. Mamoa did a very good job of channeling Conan. By no means a cinematic masterpiece, but a rip-roaring good Hyborian Age tale. They hit all three of the important points in making a kick-*** action movie:
1- Blowing **** up, and pointless mass destruction
2- Frequent violent bloody death and maiming
3- Hot naked chicks

Yeah...usually our larger theaters have both, especially the opening weekend. Most of them are all the same theater company, so I guess they just decided not to pony up for both, and collect their extra money for 3D only. They probably hurt their business by making that decision, but what can you do.

Around me it's harder to find 2D showings. A lot of them are earlier showings if they have them at all.

We have both 2D and 3d showings in multiple theaters in my city. I think that Crom and Robert E. Howard would be pleased with this movie, I certainly was.

It was alright for what it was, but I ended up enjoying the first half more than the second half, and I thought the main villain should have received a better death. It almost seemed like Prince of Persia with blood and breasts what with a warrior having a destiny beyond his beginnings and needing to keep some beautiful priestess safe on their journey, but I thought they could have smoothed over some rough edges by letting in some of that zaniness or comedic touch or whatever you want to call it that usually accompanies adventure films like Pirates of the Caribbean or Indiana Jones. If they had, I think the film could have been improved a little and the chemistry between Conan and Rachel Nichols's character (btw, body double, or the real deal?) would have played a bit better.
Also, I enjoyed seeing a more acrobatic Conan.
Also also, there's no way all the slave chicks would've boasted such racks, but I can't really complain about that. >.>

I've not seen it yet, but I wonder how it compares to the best part of the origional Conan movie.... the soundtrack.
Anyone have any thoughts on that?

Those kinds of scores simply CANNOT be planned for. It's one of those things that just *clicks*.
You can still do perfectly great scores for a film. Just, compared to those lucky accidents, they'll always seem lacking.
The new Conan score is just fine. It only suffers from NOT being the Poledouris score.

Wow. 3D in my theater must be doing really bad. I went to see this today (LOVED IT!) and they were down to a single 3D showing of the movie. The last one of the evening.
