Regarding going from subbed to F2P

My question is, I used to have a paid account, I know I can't use the 1.99 deal for him but he's like level 30 and I would like to use him when I start playing again as f2p later this year.

How can I tell if I will be blocked as i'm not a premium or VIP? He's a slasher, fights melee with claws, not a mastermind or controller, as he is an accepted archetype I will be able to use him when I come back as f2p? Or I need to start over?

Also, if I have 8 heros on my old paid account and resub as f2p, do I have to delete all but 2?

My thought was if I can't use my old paid guys, I would use the 1.99 deal to make a new character for just a month, then continue to use him when f2p comes out. If I can't use my old heroes what hero can I make that I know I can use when I am f2p?

Thanks, I looked hard for this info before posting.

You will get 2 character slot tokens, plus any you earned during your paid sub time and can choose which characters to use them on.
Others will expand on this Im sure, but thats the basic answer. You can use your 30 scrapper as a premium player.

But can I use my 30 scrapper on a f2p account is my question.

Yes. You'll be able to pick him, and one other character, to play. The others will still be there, lurking on your account against the day you should decide to subscribe again or buy or otherwise earn additional character slot unlocks to unlock them.

Because it's an old paid account, it will automatically become a Premium account. A Premium account is one on which the player has *ever* spent money, whether that's from a pre-Freedom subscription, or by spending Paragon Points post-Freedom.

So that account will become a Premium account, with access to certain features depending on how long it was previous subscribed -- basically, the more veteran badges that account has, the more access it will have with Freedom. However, as people have said, at the very least you'll have access to at least two character slots, which you'll be able to assign to whatever characters you choose. Your other characters won't be deleted, they'll just become inccessible.

ok my worry was that one or more powers I had selected in his build might not be available to people who are not actively subscribed so that he would be greyed out as a hero I can continue to play as, but it sounds like that will only happen if he is an MM or controller.

Certain power sets will be unavailable to brand new Free players, but since it's an old account you'll be Premium automatically. I don't think Claws is one of those sets anyway.

No, any power set you have access to currently (exception : MMs and Controllers might be locked for you) will be available for a premium account.

The only powers that will be unavailable are Incarnate system powers, and those will merely be grayed out; as a level 30 you won't have any.

The question isn't relevant. Since you had a paid account, you will automatically be a Premium member. F2P means you never spent a penny on the game. To be Premium, all you need is:
1) Be a current or former subscriber.
OR
2) Make ONE purchase of Paragon Points.

NOTE: If you have Invention enhancements, you will lose access to them (they will gray out and be nonfunctional) if you don't have enough veteran rewards to unlock the Invention System, or you can buy an Invention System voucher for $2, which unlocks the system for 30 days.

Actually, if you had a paid account at any time, you will be a Premium member. Remember, a "Free" player is someone who never bought anything and never subscribed. A "Premium" player is anyone who has subscribed for at least one month or spent money in the Paragon store.

The only existing powersets that are going to be unavailable to non-VIPs in I21 are those exclusive to controllers and/or masterminds. And if I am reading this list correctly, if you have already earned the Addicted veteran badge those will be available also.

Actually if you have never purchased Going Rogue, you will lose access to those power sets

Demon Summoning (you lose access to MM's anyway possibly)
Electric Control (you lose access controllers but could not use it for Doms either)
Dual Pistols
Kinetic Melee

But your claws guy should be good.
Also you may have bought Going Rogue, and my point is moot for you, but someone else may see it.

If you didn't purchase GR then you never had those powers to begin with

Well, there WAS a period after GR launch where all active accounts were given acess to GR for a couple weeks... Although you were already locked out of characters that were praetorian or used the GR powersets (until you purchased GR).
