I heard a rumor that they didn't really have an emergency! Positron wanted some play time and really didn't want to be bothered with others, so they shut it down for a bit. Him and War Witch are doing the Statesman TF as we speak, and it will be up as soon as they are done. *nod nod*

When was the last time your internet provider sent you a detailed report about why your service was interrupted? The only thing they are obligated to do is pro-rate you some credit for the outage. Go hassle a CSR if that's what you want. I doubt you'll get anywhere since a certain of amount of maintenance downtime is provisioned for in the ToS.

That being said, I was on, playing. There were no issues affecting my play. Ergo, it can be argued that whatever was happening was certainly not critical. It wasn't a server specific issue; else some would be up, others not.
So, it must be something, maybe the Database Server. I've no idea, and I really don't care what it was - except I know that it wasn't absolutely necessary. It could have waited. And, I know this to be true because I was on playing when the red announcement came on.
At least, that's the way it seems to the casual, uninformed player that I am.
I do appreciate the fact that whatever this mysterious malady is, they know that it won't take longer than one hour to repair. How they know this is beyond me, but most things are, it would seem.

Right because god forbid I hold a company I'm paying to the agreements and promises they make, that's just unthinkable and self entitled.
They had to postpone - ok fine, it happens... but they should have found some way to make it up to the player base. That's what you do when you have a mess up on your end, you fix it and make it up to those who were badly affected. Down this morning for matinence, irritating but - ok, at least it wasn't normal playing hours for most. Now again - less then twelve hours later... again, because they are having problems on THEIR end. I don't think it's wrong to expect the Devs to man up, own the problem and make restitution.
Self entitled in my opinion is taking my money, then showing me no respect by constantly not following through on promises without even an effort to make it up. Seems to me the ones who feel entitled are the Devs, entitled to OUR money.

Oh, the freeze/crash issue has been making me nuts for quite some time (not necessarily a bad thing in reality as I have been spending much more time there as a result...), but the mapserving is about 2 days old (and getting EXTREMELY old, extremely fast).
