1.
Well, you know, posting a note on the forums requires trekking five miles through the Malaria Jungle, climbing hand over hand one thousand feet up the Cliffs of Scratchy Fiberglass Insulation, and then sacrificing your kitten to the Gods Of Forum Software.

Its not like it just takes a few mouse clicks and a few minutes typing to post a forum note. You have to recognize the sacrifice involved.
Bravo!! Well said.

I think my tank Hellbilly Deluxe says it best when he stomps into the 'Boss Room' and annouces to all within earshot, "Ya'll'r 'bouts ta git DEAD!!!
3. ... sometimes even I am at a loss. As I have said before, and will state again clearly, so there will be absolutely NO misunderstanding:

Until such time as CoH Freedom actually goes live-WE ARE ALL BETA TESTERS!

In order to put forth the massive undertaking of upgrading AND going F2P, there are going to be many, many things that need to be tweaked now so that when it is released the tweaking will be at a minimum. This can only be accomplished one way: through massive player testing.

CoH beta is available to all paying customers now, but how many actually use it? (My guess is probably many of you reading this now...) Point is, not enough in any case to find the problems, idiosyncracies, flaws, deadspots, crashes, broken links, etc. ad nauseum. The things we find and report in game are the things that cause these downtimes. I would also imagine that certain implementations are staged rather than dumped in all at once to prevent a colossal cluster-f***.

The only way to gauge the impact of these implementations on existing code is for all of us to use the hell out of it and find out where the problems are.

Yes it sucks that it seems to always be down (especially for the EU folks), and yes I'm as irritated as anyone. But the thing is changes this dramatic always have a downside, and that usually means downtime to fix issues. Its unfortunate that we are paying for this downtime, but that is what makes all of this possible in the first place. I empathize with everyone's grievances, but we have no control over it (unless you choose to leave the game).
4. Very odd, I was stable without any issue. I'm sorry it was being a pain for you. -Inokis

Oh, the freeze/crash issue has been making me nuts for quite some time (not necessarily a bad thing in reality as I have been spending much more time there as a result...), but the mapserving is about 2 days old (and getting EXTREMELY old, extremely fast).
5. What seemed like a big deal 40 minutes ago, is really seeming less interesting by the moment. Double XP or not, I think I'm done for the day. Between the constant mapserving and freeze/crashing, I've pretty much had my fill of this for today.

But, by all means, please keep the discussion going as it is rather entertaining to see who actually makes sense, and who is barking mad (spoiler alert: that means most of you folks XD).
6. I too, would vote for Columbus, OH. Great city for a great time. Definitely would attend something in Columbus. (For future reference, since they have already decided that NYC is where they want to go ::gags repeatedly:: Sorry if you live there [really sorry], but not interested in NYC at all.)

8. What in the name of Odin's Beard is going on? Methinks perhaps a patch was not as well integrated as 'twas assumed to be, mmm?

Everybody needs to step back a minute and look at this rationally. Does anyone really believe that the farming (as it is being discussed here) will be allowed to continue for long?

Seriously? Anyone?

[/ QUOTE ]

It will go on forever. Did the devs turn PI into a level restricted zone? no, and why do you think they added 'Castle' in Crey Corp.? because talos is too far for a 49 to level up? tss tss...
Farms>dual or triple accounts>incomes for the company. And i could list tons of other economic reasons ...

Exactly, that is why myself and now 4 of my coalition friends canceled and willmove on in the next weeks. Its hopeless for us to try to enjoy content, all you see is farm wannabe's. I personally wanted to team with players slotted like they know what they are doing to some degree not a level 1 auto sked to 48 that goes afk the moment the mission loads. I am seriously sad because I liked this game but way I see it everything is being done to help farming and perpetuate the cycle. Even the spam Rmters have level 1's sending emails to all my toons everyyyy day again. I thought this was fixed or is there a percentage being paid for access now, which is what a friend wondered about and now I do to.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm sorry - did anyone even bother to read the rest of the post, or were you just too quick to jump on the opening statement? I said many other things as well, but they were obviously not taken into account (which is fine, whatever).

Perhaps I missed a reason... like short attention span (a.k.a. ADD) ?

Have faith! Sooner rather than later the devs will figure it out, and it will be fixed. None of the other issues that you mentioned you thought were out of line are NOTHING compared to the inequity in MA, and don't think they don't know that (or don't care). It will be fixed, perhaps not to everyone's satisfaction, but adjustments will be made. If they can come up with this incredible innovation, you better believe that they will control it.

The ramifications of not controlling it are far too severe, so believe it will get nerfed somehow-eventually.

You do bring up some interesting points, though. The spamming is out of control and needs to be stopped. My reccomendation is to deluge support with spam abuse reports and it will be addressed (again).

Anyone that just joins a team and goes afk when the mission just starts without a real justifiable reason (particularly a lowbie lvl 1-10 in a mission set for much much higher levels) gets booted immediately. No exceptions. If we all adhered to that principle, it would stop-or lessen dramtically.

Ah, but that's the rub, isn't it? Tell me-how many times have you been hit up for 'filler' requests for others that are farming? How many times have you said yes? If even once, then you just enabled the very activity that you are railing against!!! For that matter, how often have you farmed? Ever? And if so, what for? So you see, the problem you are complaining about - YES, IT IS A PROBLEM- has been created by us!

Yes I have farmed, but rarely (usually for a badge), because
I just find it to be way too boring. MA does away with the boredom factor because you aren't really farming in its truest sense-you can finish missions and move on to others. Playing other missions are what its supposed to be about, right? I know that some missions are full of AV's and EB's, and yes, that needs to be corrected, but there are literally thousands like that so your choice is almost endless.

It will be a fine balance in how they correct this, but I believe they will. If you don't, that is your choice-but I am just willing to wait and see.
10. Everybody needs to step back a minute and look at this rationally. Does anyone really believe that the farming (as it is being discussed here) will be allowed to continue for long?

Seriously? Anyone?

As fastidious and meticulous as the devs are in eliminating 'exploits', I highly doubt this will remain in effect. Farmers, party it up while you can - 'cuz Mom and Dad will be home soon, and they will lay down the law. (Remember, these are the same folks that once nerfed the 'Rage' power!)

Additionally, let us not forget (as has been mentioned previously numerous times already) that this is brand-spankin'-new to everyone. New to us as players and how we use it, and new to the devs in how they will control it. Right now, they're just letting the kids(a figure of speech) play with the new toy anyway they want, so they can get a feel for how it will be used, and therefore how to prevent abuses of it.

Come now, those of you afraid that this will be the end of CoX and are cancelling your accounts because of it - are you absolutely certain that I-14 is the REAL reason you are killing 2 accounts? You are certain its not to actually save a little money in these current unstable economic times? Could it be that CoX has just 'run-it's-course' for you, and you are tired of it and want to move on?

If you are tired of it, I understand, nothing lasts forever (though I strongly urge you to give it a little more time-just in case). If you need to save cash, no one would ever fault you for that - but please do not bash the single most cutting-edge development in MMORPG ever, just because you don't like it and it's a convenient excuse. That is selfish and narrow-minded.

If you REALLY ARE cancelling your accounts because you don't like I-14, then I am afraid I do have to agree - that is a kneejerk reaction. I am sorry to see you go, but as you yourself said, others will fill your spots without hesitation.

I personally, can only stand in awe of what I-14 already is and has the possiblity to still eventually become. It is quite possibly the turning point of all MMO's in existence and any yet to be developed. How long will it be before many of the hardcore players of other games (no names mentioned here to protect the guilty :-) begin demanding this type of feature from their devs? How many will comply? How many won't? How many will do so successfully? How many will lose players and subscriptions to CoX?

All in all, an absolutely killer performance. Bravo!!! I am beyond words to describe my pleasure with the MA. Thank you from a true fan of the game.
