Let us try it another way:

I'm assuming you're in Australia, yes?

As such, you should be used to being treated as a second or third class citizen by companies located in the USA. Why would you expect COH to treat you any differently?

Y'all simply don't, as a group, pay enough money into the game to be worth catering to. I base this conclusion on the fact that if you did, you'd have your own servers located in Australia. You don't have that with COH. Thereby ...

I'm not apologizing for anything. I'm saying that it sucks, for you, and that the company is going to do what the company needs to do so as to make as much money as it can; and catering to the Australian playerbase doesn't do that; and so they will not cater to the Australian playerbase.

Want that to be fixed? Have one hundred thousand people from Australia hand over their payment details to COH along with the request to be charged USD 15 monthly as a subscription to COH on the condition that a local server with local support staff and local downtimes is created. Can't do that? See above.

Yes, because common sense is being an apologist...

Owait.

I'm in Europe. Guess who got a load of sucky downtime during the old maintenance schedule and server list merge downtimes?
Oh. That's right. Europe.

And before that? Oh yes, the forums which never saw ANY Dev comments, or even any acknowledgement that the EU even existed, when everything went to the Americans.

Because I can criticise the Devs a whole heap on stuff I feel they've done wrong or designed wrong (CoT, Keyes, many more) but, as soon as it doesn't suit your argument that, Waaaaah, the Devs are out to get you and ONLY you, I'm instantly an apologist.

Seriously. Cry some more.

Paragon Studios is in the San Fran area, way, way north of the outage area.

Ahah. So scratch that then.

I can see people being upset about downtime, but I don't think there's some complainometer that has to register a certain amount before the servers come back on. Keeping servers offline for giggles does not a successful business make.

Also fact - The servers are down other than a regular sheduled maintenance. They have remained down well over the stated time and there's no word of when they might be back or what's going on.

Yes... it happens... But I also see why some people are slightly annoyed. They pay full price subs too.

An interesting tangent (or maybe not).
The Beta VIP server just went down without warning.

I live in the Southern U.S., but my prime playtime typically coincides with Oceanic primetime. This particular downtime is of an emergency sort; or at least that's my assumption, as earlier I was booted off the server and discovered that the login server was down when I tried to get back in game. When I did finally get in, it was to hear reports of servers crashing, so I'm assuming that's why they're down tonight... this was definitely not 'scheduled' maintenance, it's emergency 'oh crud the servers are melting' maintenance.

Still, it's irritating when there have been so many downtimes lately. And I foresee lots more to come, as always right in the middle of my gaming time, with regards to I21 and Freedom.

Bleh.

Unplanned downtime affects everyone equally, there is no bias if there is no intent. Planned downtime displays bias against the minority in favor of the majority; complaining about such is like chewing bubble gum to solve algebra problems. You can do it, it simply isn't effective.

Not a happy Bunny here with or without Gun (since guns are illegal here I guess it will be without).

I was in the mood to vent some of my frustration on a hapless villain/longbow but the servers are down. To bad, I have to say again. Something is wrong with your Unicorns Paragon Studios.

A rather dissapointed and still frustrated Gunbunny

To say unplanned downtime affects everyone equally is assuming that once it's discovered it is handled in the same way regardless of the time of day. I dare say it isn't and I can understand why. I can also understand that this will upset a number of people.

In regards to people being miffed. No it's not going to solve anything, but If they want to chew... so be it.

Complaining about unplanned downtime is stupid but complaining about the cause of the downtime isn't.
Considering all of these outtages began happening when they downgraded the hardware, we have a right to criticize the hardware nerf as a poor decision.

Most days I don't have time to play much. On my day off, sometimes, I do. Except when the servers are down two weeks in a row on my day off. Equal my ***.

I love our dev team and I understand crap happens so I'm not ranting, but the servers are not supposed to be down, and it does suck that they are. On a side note - I'm more than a little concerned by the outages considering that F2P is around the corner. The servers are unstable as hell now - can you imagine adding a couple thousand F2Pers to the load? If I had to guess I'd say this is a big part of why we haven't heard a release date for Freedom.

It appears that the beta version has been pushed to the test servers. I believe that the pattern is for new issues to be on test for a week, maybe two weeks, then to be pushed to the live servers.

If this proves correct, the headstart may be starting in a couple weeks.

Ah, the joys of waiting for the servers to be back up. I've decided to use this time to watch Power Rangers out of boredom, i could probobly do something more productive, but who wants to do that?

I've a friend saying that they're running around Talos right now. They may be back up.

They downgraded the hardware ... in anticipation of a massive influx of new players?!

Seriously?

In-game? I don't believe so. I'm still chugging down the newest update to the test server. Let me finish running this latest consistency check, and I'll go check.

I didn't realise that tripe was being treated as fact now...?

Here's a hint; hew Hardware can and, in all likelihood, WILL go wrong while it is installed and set up. Computers are EVUL like that. And they hate humans.

I should know...
