I agree, I thought it was a diesel also and still may be.

The really ironic thing is that Bane is a stupid character anyway - I mean, seriously, steroidal luchador criminal mastermind, what? - and yet the prospect of a wholesale revamping of his personal style... doesn't make him in any way more appealing.

Ah, well. The whole Nolan Batman franchise has been one big writeoff for me anyway. Just have to bunker down and wait for the next revolution of that particular cultural wheel.
Considering where Bane is from, it makes sense that he adopted a luchadore costume, lucha is -huge- south of the border. But maybe I'm a little biased, as I used to enjoy pro-wrestling back in the day. But it seems like they're ditching the luchadore inspired costume for a more militaristic look anyway.

Were these pics taken in Pittsburgh?

Tales of Judgment. Also here, instead of that other place.

good luck D.B.B.

I know, but it seems a bit... lighthearted... as a motif for someone like Bane. Like an axe murderer deciding it'd be fun to adopt a Sgt. Slaughter motif. Besides, even if he wasn't dressed like a masked wrestler, there's the whole "super-steroids plus savantish strategic mastermind" thing. The character just... doesn't work for me. Mind you, he's not helped any by the fact that he was introduced as the centerpiece of a plot that made me want to slam someone's head into a cinderblock wall - my own if no one else's was available.

Nope they are gasoline engines, sounds like a dual exhaust system of some sort with no cross-over ( intermediate H or X pipe) and little in the way of mufflers.

Couldn't really tell if they were SB or BB engines. In either case making 500hp is probably stretch given what it would cost to do so in either case (they certainly didn't sound all that impressive).

As for diesel, that would add alot of complexitiy and expense - you have a high pressure fuel system to deal with. I'm willing to bet they are just carbed SB V8s making in the 300-400hp range - simple and cheap.

I've heard a V8 through dual straight pipes and it still had a throaty rumble to it. Of course, the exhaust was pretty long, and the engine wasn't aluminum, both of which could make difference.

In any case, those tumblers sounded very pathetically tractor-like.

Anyone else notice that the lead Tumbler has a modified passenger side?

Oh, I know that sound, and I know just the combination of parts it takes to get that sound too.

In any event the original tumbler for Batman Begins sounds alot better, my guess is that these crappy sounding tumblers are just very cheap props more akin to a parade float.

Here is a link to the orginal tumbler development

Well, to be fair, the sounds we hear cars making in the movies pretty much never came out of the actual cars we're seeing. (There's one of Jeremy Clarkson's videos where he demonstrates this by dubbing V8 sounds onto a Fiat 500 chase, with predictably amusing results.)

Indeed, in the old school cop drama "Bullitt", the Mustang's sound was borrowed from Ford's GT40 race cars. The Mustang used a synchronized transmission and the GT40 an unsynchronized unit (hence all the double clutching going on).

Not that grossing way north of $1B always portends a great couple of films, but who's interpretation of this character in live action movies would you prefer, Joel Schumacher, Tim Burton, Leslie Martinson...

Nolan btw will be attached in some capacity with the "next revolution of that particular cultural wheel".

I, for one, haven't been completely happy with any of them. I'd say I like the Burton and Nolan films about equally for different reasons.

Honestly? I don't think Batman works in live-action, full stop. Burton got closest.

Agreed. I HATED that last interpretation. All they wanted to do with that was make a drugged up version of the moronic version of the Hulk (aka, "Hulk SMASH!" being his vocabulary).
