Which powers for my character concept?
An assault rifle/traps corruptor would be a nice combo for the nasty bag of tricks feel. My buddy has one, and he loves it.
A */Traps Corrupter is probably your best bet, yeah, with another possible choice for primary being Fire (if you want to go heavy on the "explosives").

Huh.
You may have a record for 'most taciturn forum poster'.
It's rare to see people who beat my start date with fewer posts than me.
Well played, sir! (Or madam.)
Well Since his signature weapon is punkins. Traps would work, but orange colored flying skulls from Dark would be neato too from Dark Blast.
But since hes techy, then perhaps Dual Pistal/Traps
Fire/Devices or Fire/Traps is a s close as you would get.
The plastic tips at the end of shoelaces are called aglets. Their true purpose is sinister.
--The Question, JLU
You might also try a Crab Spider (Bane Spider built for gun attacks). You'd get a very agile, hard to hit guy with a gun and two grenade types plus you could go Pyre epic and add Fireball.
If you specifically want the Hobgoblin's pumpkin bomb type attacks, try a Dark/Traps Corruptor with orange Dark powers. That's about as close as you'll get to flaming jack-o-lantern bombs in look, but you won't have them actually explode since the attacks that have the right look are single target. Energy/Traps colored orange might also give something like the right look and more of the right feel.
If you want to wait until Beam Rifle is out you may want to check that out too.
Cascade, level 50 Blaster (NRG/NRG since before it was cool)
Mechmeister, level 50 Bots / Traps MM
FAR too many non-50 alts to name
[u]Arcs[u]
The Scavenger Hunt: 187076
The Instant Lair Delivery Service: 206636
Isn't Poison getting proliferated with issue 21? I could see a Fire/Poison corruptor working fairly well for a Hobgoblin-esque character. Granted, you might have to wait until Freedom launches. /traps and /devices from Corruptors/Defenders and Blasters would work fairly well too. Heck, now I'm getting a little jazzed about the idea and thinking that maybe I could wait until 21 for poison. Mmm, Dark attacks, yeah, also good.
I could almost see Dual Pistols working too, what with the ammo types and effects, not that people swap out to different types that often, but that's definitely an option if you wanted to have a bigger bag of tricks.
Lots of good suggestions, and Traps is an awesome set, but doesn't the Hobgoblin character spend a fair bit of time airborne? That doesn't mesh as well with Traps, but a Fire/Devices Blaster might not be a bad compromise. If not actually planning to fly a lot, then i would tend to go with Fire/Traps as well.
Dr. Todt's theme.

I'm thinking of going with Electric since I'm calling him the Grim Gremlin and gremlins are known for causing havoc with electronics, also electric controllers summon gremlins, so electric is the way to go for a gremlin theme.
So it was a toss-up between an elec/nin stalker, elec/traps corruptor, or waiting for the blaster villian option of elec/devices. I'll wait for it. I guess I deviated a bit from the Hobgoblin but thanks for all the input, guys.
I think the Ultimate Green Goblin throws fire balls and I think a coh version of the Hobgoblin could do the same. I say fire/ traps corr would fit the theme.
Proton Sentry Peacebringer:lvl 50+++ - Human Build / Triform Build
Quasar Sentry Warshade:lvl 50+- Human Build / Triform Build
Red Katipo Arachnos Soldier:lvl 50+++ - Crab Build / Bane Build
Black Katipo Arachnos Widowlvl 50+++ - Fortunata Build / Night Widow Build
But I have to fly now that they're introducing rocketboards.

Triumphant Defenders Forever
Psylenz FF/Psi, ArticQuark Storm/Rad, Symon BarSisyphus Bots/psn, Max VanSydow Thugs/Dk, Cyclone Symon Bots/stm, Blue Loki Ice/Cd, Widow 46526
HelinCarnate:OMG it is so terrible. I have the option to take 3 more powers but no additional slots. Boo F'ing hoo.
Yes, Rocketboard for the win. Electric stalkers and electric corruptors do NOT get gremlin pets unless you are counting an incarnate pet. Individuality with electric powers is a good idea in my opinion. If you really want the gremlin pets and revert to hobgoblin theme, go electric control dominator with a fire secondary OR Electric control/ electric blast for more of the electric theme you offered.

Inspiration, deviation... and voila!
And, hmm... I definitely agree with the Corrupter: /Traps or Blaster: /Devices.
And Electricity (either way) sounds like the right way to go!
Adding in some of the craftable Temporary Powers would probably add some fun to playing the character. The Plasmatic Taser and the different Grenades should work well, just to add more to your bag of tricks.
Honestly, it sounds like a fun character!
From the little I've seen, the Beam Gun set could be good as well (If you're going to wait for Issue 21, regardless). It seems a bit Electric-y. Enough so that it wouldn't break the theme/reasoning that you had in mind.
Also, you could just level up to 20 and switch sides, if you don't want to wait (and want to go as a Blaster Villain).
and round up everyone that knows more than they do"-Dylan
So I want to make a Hobgoblin type character(the villian from Spider-man). A shady technology-based character in a halloween mask I'm naming The Grim Gremlin.
So what's a good archtype and powerset combo to go with this concept. I was thinking an electric/traps corruptor or maybe a Stalker of some kind. Advice? |
ETA: And if you really want to get hands-on, this model does give you a ray gun (Albeit not a very powerful one), and if you go with the Scorpion patron pool, a lazer-beatstick. If you're into that sort of thing.
Ice/Ice Blaster. Dedication to concept is an ugly thing.
Claws/WP Brute. Sex without the angst.
Every CoX character lies somewhere on this spectrum.

As for the OP, I agree with the others, /Traps would fit. And if you want to have the flaming pumpkin thing...go Fire/Traps.
No one pays attention to me, cause I listen to the voices in my head.
Think I got you beat.

The Goblin from Spider Man actually had enhanced strength too, so if you felt like it, you could go something like SS/Invuln Brute and it'd probably be pretty thematic. Just throw in some temp power grenades or maybe some epic pool shenanigans for "gadgets".

A Paragon Earth version of the Green Goblin would be interesting to play/see/experience.
A Stalker could also apply, as well, I would think.
Are you a Wolf, a Sheep, or a Hound?
