Chad, RE: the Tunnel Trial

It's in the video and looks cool, but it screams "if you're tired of caves, you'll hate this too". While I don't think it's Praet only, and maybe I'm mixing with the Praet Hamidon being Praet only(?), the trial is open to everyone, right?

I had read/heard that something coming in I21 was NOT going to be open to non-Praet characters and I kind of shook my head in disappointment.

Everyone who is a VIP and has Going Rogue.

That makes no sense.

It uses a fair bit of the linear Praetorian Sewer geometry, just covered in goop and spores and plant-y bits. I was a little confused about what we were doing/where we were going at first, but then I pulled up the map and saw that the way is actually pretty straightforward.

As with all the other TFs and trials, after a few runs it'll become second nature.

I didn't personally see anything that was Praetorian-only. Granted, the Comic Con builds aren't full-featured; the Underground Trial we saw, for example, was only stage 3 of 3. So maybe there will be new content specific to Praetorian characters.

But, as I said before, they plan to add all the Praetorian content to Ouroboros in the future. And Going Rogue will be automatically unlocked for VIPs, regardless of prior purchase or not, so you'll get access to any such content eventually.

I had some stuff earlier in the thread. I think you can basically sum it up as "are there plans to adjust Kheldians in the next issue or so, especially Peacebringers?" Hopefully that's general enough and like the badge questions you got answered, but who knows.

Peacebringers are quite honestly the most clear AT/Powerset I can think of that has some adjustments needed (other than Devices). Its mezzing capabilities do not stack (and are weaker on their own than Warshades), and their +damage and pet powers are clearly not as good as Warshades, either. They're not as terrible as some people would like you to believe, but the above are obvious issues. I keep hoping an adjustment is going to happen, yet nothing does. I would love to hear some good news on this.

*sighs* Though if they stay true to form, they'll keep working a lot on these new powersets and not do much on old sets that still need a little something. Hopefully you can get some news to cheer me up in that regard. And hopefully "are they in sight for the next issue or so" is open enough... even if it isn't, I hope you don't mind asking.

Voo, they look to be fairly large tunnels, some of them being like the Praetorian Underground (like Chad said). So I think you'll have a lot more room to breath than in the dreaded blue caves.

Chad or anyone, how big is the Underground Trial? If it's 16 rather than 24, that will make them less claustrophobic as well.

*added*

Oh, and thanks for the Street Justice info, Chad. Sounds nifty, though I don't like powers that can switch from Stun to Hold... makes slotting trickier (ran into this with Dual Pistols). I think I may go with SJ/EA as well, rather than SS/EA, just to not double dip powersets at all, and because it sounds cool the more I hear about it.

I asked Adison, one of the new environment artists, since I was standing next to her at the play test. She wasn't quite sure, but she thought it was a 12-24 trial.

We actually ran with 11 in "super sekrit dev cheat mode," hence the skipping of the first 2 of the 3 parts to the trial; we had enough debuff, damage and tanking to take out the Avatar of Hami at the end, too, but did not satisfy all the requirements to successfully complete the trial.

I will ask about if there are anything planned towards Kheldian rebalancing for you--I agree that Warshades are far more attractive than Peacebringers, and would love to see that gap bridged. (It might actually get me to drag my level 14 PB out for more than just earning event/anniversary badges. )

I've got something about a potential beta leak I saw that I want to ask about, too... but of course, if it turns out to be true, I probably won't be able to say anything, so I'm not mentioning what that it is right now.

Alright, just got home and am going to pass the **** out in a moment.

I asked Second Measure about Kheldian changes for you, GP. He said they've been having informal discussions about what to do to bring Peacebringers up to par with Warshades, but nothing official is planned yet. They'd like to make changes, but they won't be in Issue 21; however, it's possible they may do so in Issue 22 or maybe even a mid-issue release. (He also mentioned that your posts on the subject are one of the main reasons Khelds are being looked at at all. )

I also asked about the video of the "Staff Fighting" powerset that was "leaked" from the beta. They knew of the existence of the video prior to it being posted on the forums. It was not a "viral marketting" thing, as has been speculated. I asked Z if it was legit, and he shrugged and said, "Who knows?" I asked Second Measure, who replied, "We're working on lots of different things for future issues." Tunnel Rat said that the preview we saw at Comic Con was pretty close to the full feature list of Issue 21, and Staff Fighting certainly was not in it.

Harr. She's actually pretty handy--her summoned demons keep the enemy aggro off of her (and the squishies) and she actually sticks with the group instead of running off and being an idiot.

Another interesting thing is that a little "Desdemona face" icon appears over whomever she's following, so you always know at a glance who she's on.

the mention of proximity bombs is kind of unsettling to me, i just have a gut feeling that there is gonna be a badge related to not tripping or getting hit with any prxomity bombs (not getting hit would be easier of course since you could destroy from range), not tripping them however would be awful awful badge

i really hope that i am wrong though and there wont be a badge relating to them

There's going to be a badge for getting Desdemona hit with every mine, and you aren't allowed to buff her.

There is. Black Pebble (I think) told me. I mentioned it in an earlier post:

A PUG probably won't listen well enough to get it done, but a focused team really shouldn't have any problem whatsoever with this.

Chad is in, apparently, much better shape than me. I was only there two days and am still wiped the **** out.

Several things. Mercy hasn't really been changed much cosmeticaly but story wise is pretty much all new. Say good by to the snakes. Also the destined one material has been rewritten.

New Atlas is a wet dream. You really have to see it to belive it. Also all new missions. Compleat zone revamp. AE is still there right where it was. The warehouse area is still just like it was but everything else...My God. It's full of stars.

All trainers also double as tailers.

The new tutorial is beautiful to look at but I found it meh to play. Love the hell out of Beam Rifle. Can't wait for this.

Posi said that there will be a steady stream of new stuff as well as full on issues 3 to 4 times a year. He credits their new strike team approche to production. He knew it would help a lot just not as much as it has. I think they are really supprised how well it's going.

As far as marketing goes... I only saw Black Peble at the Meet and Greet and he was pretty busy and I didn't really get a chance to talk to him. I wanted to ask him about marketing. Like what that have planed as much as he could tell.

Something witty and profound

You're pulling my leg on that last bit, right? If not, that totally ruins my Swedish calm disposition and makes me want to blush.

Nice to hear that changes are being discussed. It's been tough having things sit partially done since the I11 changes and not know if anything more is going to happen or even being discussed (kind of like Fiery Aura, but it got changes awhile back). Kheldians have been red-headed stepchildren at times, or so it feels. And it's a shame, they're a great concept and very different from most ATs in CoX.

I wish I had seen that staff video before it was taken down. All the reaction I have heard makes me jealous. If it's anything like I have seen of Street Justice so far, it'll be great!

Epic fail devs. Granted, I already knew this from looking at screenshots but I'm just gonna have a hearty scathing laugh at the new player experience being tainted when FREEDOM hits.

Aren't f2p accounts locked out of ae by default? I know the farming is nowhere nearly as bad as it has been; we definitely do not need any more ae babies.

And for Pete's sake, could someone please grab some numbers for time manipulation?! Selfish is me, but I think this is really all I care about.

According to the Freedom Friday Facebook thing a couple weeks ago, Free players will be able to join people on AE missions, but won't get any rewards (including XP) for it.

But then I noticed in the Comic Con build that there was something called an "Architect License" that would grant you access to the architect for (I think) 30 days for like a dollar or a buck-fifty. I didn't really pay attention to the pricing on things, because they kept telling us that none of the prices were final any time they caught someone looking at the store.

It just said "Grants access to the Mission Architect" and didn't say anything about rewards (that I can recall). So maybe Free players really won't have access to AE at all?

I realized this morning that I was a bonehead for not scribbling down any numbers.

Then I realized as I was typing this that it doesn't matter, because this stuff is all still in beta, and numbers can fluxuate wildly in beta. Until it gets to open beta, it doesn't really matter what the numbers are.

I do apologize for paying exactly zero attention to Time Manipulation while I was there, though. I couldn't take my eyes off of Street Justice--it's the powerset I always wanted, but didn't know I wanted it.

The video was super schmexy, but it looked "finished." Since nobody outright denied that there was going to be a Staff set forthcoming--in fact, Second Measure specifically said that "they're working on lots of things for future releases"--I'm operating on the assumption that there really is such a powerset in the works, but that video was a clever mock-up by a devoted fan (or a troll with too much time on his hands).

Anyway, best not to discuss it any further at this time, lest this thread get deleted like the others talking about the video.

Dang... wish I had that in a quote from a dev, so I could show off my awesomeness in my signature.

Zam, I'm hoping the devs will have some plan to limit AE use, at least so newbies and RMTers can't bludgeon it too much. But we'll see how they do with it. If Chad's info is right, that could be helpful.

I do wish they would fix their filter, though. That thing is just ridiculous.

No kidding. My arc is still broken because I have an NPC named Lieutenant Nelson, with Nelson being blocked. The character is based off of Victory's own EricNelson and his main character, Stained Glass Scarlet.

My issue is the name "Bladed" in "Bladed Justice." Not sure how a made up word even gets caught by their filter. The list in the AE section is full of ridiculous examples like ours.
