With DM for punching, I'm thinking Blackout, though that may be overused already. You may need to combine it with something: Blackout Bob, Dr. Blackout, etc.
DM need not be only nether powers. That black haze can be coal dust, carbon powder, etc.
You could then make Coal Miner's Granddaughter, Hard Coal, Carbon Handprint, Dust Off, etc.
It need not be black either. I saw a great tan color used, with a sand theme: Sandstorm or something like it. You could also make it a sickly yellow green and create a pestilence theme.

Akeldama is the land that Judas bought with the money he got for betraying Jesus and then he went and died on the land in such a fashion that his intestines burst out. If that isn't evil enough, I'm not sure what is. I have wanted to use it, but nothing ever sticks. I haven't checked all servers, but Akeldama tends to be taken where I have looked, or I would have just used that.
How about something like Cemetery Man or Cemetery Dog or Grave Wolf or Soulless Man or Man With No Soul or just something primal like Bearslayer or Beastcrusher?
I have no idea of any of the above names are famous or from anything. Too many names are used in this or that. But if none of them are from comics and you like them and the name is available on your server, go for it.

However, Matthew writes that Judas returned the money to the priests prior to his death and that they then spent it to buy Akeldama, so make of that what you will.

How about forcing yourself to think outside the box? Who said that your name had to represent your powers, fighting style, personality, or visual characteristics? This is comming from a tactical point of view so your enemies would have a hard time figuring you out.

I think the biggest thing that makes this concept difficult is midnight grasp. There's not a lot of expinations for giant gooey looking tenticles coming out of the ground and surrounding your enemy.
That said, i'd go with the deathless/zombie/ghoul concept... one can color the dark graphics these days, so you could go witha a "slimey" or "ectoplasmic" name or perhaps some kind of sticky insect name.

Seeing as you asked for costumes, I hopped onto my dm/inv and put it under the knife.
Here's what ten minutes of tinkering got, nice and grim:

Very simple, but I kinda like simple.
Full masks for skull, red alpha aura for the eyes.
Top is sleek tights with claws in red.
Shoulder is medieval in black and gold.
Gloves are valkyrie in black and gold.
Belt is jewel.
Pants are sleek tights.
Boots are steampunk.
Poof! Done!
