looking to solo
If I've understood you correctly, you're asking for:
1) A blue side AT
2) Solos well right out the gate and stays strong all the way to 50. This right here knocks out quite a few combo's and AT's IMHO. (Ever tried soloing a Controller in the teens? Getting teeth pulled is more fun to me.)
Given those criteria I would have to say a Scrapper. Perhaps DM/Shield? I've heard it's an awesome combo. Not a lot of AoE, but quite a bit of synergy with DM's accuracy debuffs and Shield's defense.
Now if you should decide to take a walk on the Red side, a Brute or MM is what I would do. Bots/Dark is crazy good, and I love my Stone/WP brute all to pieces.

Yea, im willing to do Villains, just cuz i can go to hero after 20 lol, and i have never tried Stalkers, or MMs. Im more of a tank n spank, 5 Tanks at 50, and 2 on the way, so another Brute wouldnt hurt. or maybe a MM.. lol.

Tankers : Ice/Ele, Fire/SS, Fire/DM, Invul/Fire, Ele/Stone Corrupter : Arch/TA
Scrappers : DM/DA, Kat/SR Brutes : Fire/Shield, Ele/Fire(Villian)
Controllers : Fire/Kin, Ele/Rad, Earth/Cold
If you want a strong soloer that's good right out of the box, pretty much any Brute or Scrapper will do. You can have the Brute heroside but you'd need to level 1-20 in Praetoria or redside.

...my belief is that all combos can solo, some AT slower though (tanks, defenders, trollers in lower levels)..... very good soloers are brutes, scrappers, stalkers and Masterminds... also the redside AT are more solo-friendly imo....
... i personally like very much to solo with my stalkers (solo suits them thematically too... lone assasin etc etc)

Brutes and Scrappers are good out of the gate. Masterminds are also a strong choice but do require a bit more effort and have some rough spots (levels 18-25 are rough for a lot of MM combos). The various Epic ATs are also pretty good soloers to various degrees. Corruptors can be good soloers with specific powersets but tend to mature later than a Brute/Scrapper.
Claws/Willpower Brute or Broadsword/Shield Defense Scrapper.

I'm going to say I preferred soloing a Controller in the teens.

1. Do the tutorial to get your Large Insps
2. Do the first mission from Kalinda, the second if you like, Autocomplete either the second or third, your call.
3. Run to the black market, killing most of the stuff on the way. Should be level 4 or darn close by the time you arrive.
4. Post your large insps for 1 inf each. Collect 50k to 400k each instantly.
Option 1:
5. Go to Port Oaks via the ferry and get your newspaper.
6. Run 3 paper missions and get your Jet Pack via the Mayhem Mission
Option 2:
5. Go to Grandville via the ferry
6. Buy your jetpack from the vendor with the money from your large insps
7. Return to Port Oaks and run Story Arcs. Try to get the Family Arcs, they have level 4 EBs for you, lowest level in the game on either side. Very fun too especially the AV/EB-grade Vampyre.
8. Move to Cap as soon as you're able to and try to get Marshal Brass "Echo down the Aeons", this unlocks your Oro Portal and it is very fun. Willy The Wheeler is also a cool arc in Cap. Never liked Midas' ones myself.
Should be good to go from there out. Don't miss the Task Forces, we have a lot fewer Redside, but I love them. Especially Silver Mantis.

Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.
Claws/WP Scrapper. By far the fastest solo, IMO. Claws regen quickly, strike fast, and don't take a lot of power compared to others. WP offers a LOT of protection, and also helps with the Endurance at 20. Add the leadership trio, and the stamina run, and that bad boy/girl will be a leveling machine.
When I did Homeslicer, he was just about unstoppable, hitting +2 bosses like they were minions by level 12 or something, and by 20 or 22 he never ran out of end, and just about couldn't be hit with all the debuffs he had going on. +0 Mobs of 8+ mixed minions/LTs were nothing to him, +1s were fun, and +2s were doable. Even if they had a Boss he was gonna make it just fine.
I loved that build. From 1 to 50, exactly how I wanted him to be, and he was glorious.
---
I did do a Brute from 1-50 solo as well. Big Thing was... big. And stupid.
He is a SS/Invuln Brute. He took longer to get there, and he was a little less than perfect in the defense/debuff categories, and he'd huff and puff at the lower levels, running out of Endurance, but... man he was fun. The best thing was to keep him moving so his Fury kept up. An SS Brute with almost full Fury is a thing to behold, and even funner to wield, even if he is slower to ding.
/I admit... I'm kinda intrigued with the Brute Claws/WP... if Homeslicer was that awesome (to me)... a Brute version should be... Stupendous. Yes. That's it. Stupendous.
//I may make one now.
///Well, after I get Rose Dawn to 50. 32 as of this writing...

I just finished IOing out my Claws/WP Scrapper and I really like him. I considered remaking him as a Brute now that I can bring Brutes blueside -- I know that he'd be even stronger defensively as a Brute, and still have good offense, but I also notice that Brutes don't get nearly as good recharge on some of the Claws attacks. For instance, Spin has 9.2 recharge on Scraps and 14 seconds on Brutes; Focus has 6.4 seconds on Scraps and 8 seconds on Brutes, and so on. I know Spin's damage was upped a bit for Brutes, but I like being able to use Spin (one of the best PBAoEs in the game) every 3.79 seconds -- without Hasten -- after sets are factored in.

Fire/Dark Corr. Tar Patch, Fireball, and Rain of Fire is great for melting mobs and you get it all very early. Also, you get darkest night and twilight grasp to keep you alive.
I have soloed a broadsword/shield scrapper to lvl 24 and the ride has been a blast so far.
I'm really enjoying my Dual Blades/Elec Brute at the mo. Looks very pretty as well (as Claws/Elec does too) which is always good.
Anything Traps, but I would say defender because it offers Force Field Generator at level 8. As an example at level 10 you can have FFG, Combat Jump and Maneuvers running with zero enhancements and have 19% defenses across the board. slotted for endurance in combat jump and maneuvers and double slotting FFG for defense in training enhancers and your at 20.6% defense.
I would suggest radiation as it offers a nice debuff and a decent amount of aoes with no Knockbacks. My only issue is I am not sure if the T9 is a crashless or not. I think there is some mis-wording in mids regarding the T9 powers.
Traps will allow you to become positional defense cap and will allow you to solo 4/8 settings if you like.

Try Soldier of Arachnos. Please!!
They are extremely team-friendly and they can solo well. All 4 branches are good for soloing.
What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.
To solo well you need a good mix of survivability and damage. Scrappers tend to be at the top of that list, then Brutes. Below them are Tankers and Masterminds, once they get going, and Soldiers of Arachnos. Below them are other ATs with a particular power set, like Traps.
re: Claws/WP Brute...
Wow. I mean.. wow. That is awesome. Pure win right there.
Rolled Homeslicerette as a sister to Homeslicer on Champion (where I think all my characters might wind up as Scrappers/Brutes now...), but as a Brute. With Fury... They can get maybe 1 or 2 hits, get her down to 1/2 a bar of health, but they're down by then... and that's just at level 4-5. When Fury is built up... she's bad, man, bad. You know it. Sch'mon.
'Course, she's already got the Fitness pool, unlike Homeslicer who had to make the run at 16-20. She hardly gets outta breath and just runs and runs and runs around defeating all in her path.
This is gonna be FUN.

Hey all, im just looking for a good powerset which would be good for solo from 1-50, and still do well on trials/tfs/teams at 50. All my other 13 50s are 90% team based, and melee(Tanker). Anyways, any good suggestions for a combo to solo, but still do well at end game.
Ill be leveling by Atlas Park, skipping the tutorial. Street sweep from Level 1 - 2, then go train, then go to my contact, and start doing missions. Do as many as those I can do, then i had thoughts of going through Sewer Network solo at level 5-7ish, til 7-8, go to the Hollows, do all the contacts, so i can have a character to be able to start CoT. After the Hollows, from there, i have no clue, maybe hit up the Tunnels and farm those? Not sure..
