Login Screen Heroes

Who are the heroes behind Statesman on the City of Heroes login screen? They don't look like any of the signature characters I've seen. Were they just made up for the purpose of being on the screen or were they actual player costumes screenshotted and rendered in CGI?

Also, why does Statesman look like he has a lazy eye?

I do recognize the woman on Statesman's right (my left as I see the screen) as Sister Psyche. As for the rest....I dunno.

A handful of them are the precursors to the signature heroes around the city (Positron, Back Alley Brawler, etc.). However, they were created very early in the game, and so hadn't gotten their signature outfits yet. However, some of them are just generic heroes created with whatever costume options were around in I1.

There's a terribad looking blue shiny guy on the pop-up you get in the Launcher. Not sure who he's supposed to be, I just assumed he was a level 4 who wandered into the Freedom Phalanx Group Shot in Atlas Park and they couldn't be bothered doing a re-do.

Most of them are just some "generic heroes" and some are "signature heroes" that never got "signatured" if you know what I mean.

That is, of course, Sister Psyche next to Statesman. Backalley Brawler is there towards the back of the group.

I've always thought that the other woman next to States may have been an early version of Ms. Liberty (or possibly Miss Liberty), but that's just imo.

Is that not

Maiden Justice

to Statesman's left?

(Otherwise known as Monica Richter, Marcus Cole's wife)

Actually there was an old set of wallpapers and that character (well the .jpeg at least) was titled "Goldie".

It looks like the same model used in the original trailer, where she fights alongside Statesman in WWII, so yeah, my bets are on Maiden Justice. I wonder if Ms. Liberty was originally just meant to be MJ.

(Actually, looking at this CoV wallpaper shows the model was apparently recycled for Ms. Liberty anyway.)

Aside from Sister Psyche right next to Statesman and Back Alley Brawler in the back, the rest are heroes created for promotional materials, AFAIK. The Top Knot guy and Tech Monocle dude show up in a lot of early posters and wallpapers. I believe the blonde all the way to the left showed up in a City of Villains promo shot, but I'm failing to dig it up via the Wayback Machine.

An early Positron is in the back left, and I believe the monocle guy is a really early version of Synapse (I've seen other shots where he is shown to be a speedster)

Topknot Guy (For lack of a better name) i would have thought would have got more of a story line. From the look though he would pass as a good MA/SR Scrapper.

I'd always considered "Top-Knot" to be a Super Strength/Invulnerable tanker.

I think the "Headband Guy" next to him would be the more Martial Arts/Super Reflexes looking character.

Hmm...Top-Knot....getting idea for a new character...wonder if the name's open on a server somewhere....

I thought someone should post the picture.

I think it is fair to say that the "Top Knot Guy", "Bug Armour Guy", and the "Monocle Guy" have names, or at the very least "File Names" as they appear in several promotional art work posters:

Is that the Blue Knight getting pwned?

My pet peeve is people who refuse to acknowledge it when I tell them my character has unlimited power. If I rp attack them they are of course disintegrated beyond the ability of any hospital or magic to restore. Yet despite this they refuse to delete their characters and still keep playing them as if nothing happened. ~Mandu, 07-16-2010

I made a Psi/Mental Blaster and copied the gold lady on our right, Statesman's left. I named the character, "Splash Screen." If her costume was Red, White and Blue instead of Gold, White and Blue, I would agree that she is probably supposed to be Maiden Justice a/k/a Monica Richter Cole, Stateman's wife and Recluse's sister.

I've always wondered about the names of these folks. Someone once told me that they thought the one I copied was actually named "Golden Girl" . . .

LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

Nah, the proto-Positron only shows up in the other shots, not the loading screen. What's only interesting now, thanks to recent events, is that his radiation is very blue and fiery...

Actually, wow, from a lot of these it looks like the designs have essentially been promoted to separate characters. You even have proto-Posi standing right next to Positron in one.

I had assumed the one in the cowl on the left was Psynapse and that definitely looks like Mynx at the back right

Fansite, I know, but this is where I get my Info.
Hmm I think the "Dead or Inactive" page on that site dates it a bit - quite a few have been active for several issues and they ain't all heroes by any means.
