New Way of Travel
(Sarcastic post removed for being unintentionally insulting and generally unfunny.)
I always liked the idea of having additives to travel powers. Like jet packs in flying. What about broomsticks, carpets, animals, flying tech disks (ex. Static Shock), cars, or motorcycles? Broomstick would be an amazing thing in my opinion.

FIRST, i know you are new, and want to be a bit unique, but the color of your text is not working. hard to read and kinda annoying. not an attack, just a critique, most of us have done it as well and learned the hard way. so stick to regular old text, the older portion of the readers on these forums won't have to get all super geezer on your @$$

second, cars and motorcycles..... engine won't support it currently, that's the official answer. i may disagree with that statement, but only academically. it is probably way too much work to justify the time. it has been asked for numerous times, and every time we get the same response. so i wouldn't hold my breath on these.
third (good news portion), jetpacks!!!!!!!!! asked for almost weekly, and with the addition of the backpack in the steampunk booster, it looks like jetpacks may be right around the corner (in a technical aspect, not a time aspect, who knows when we will get em).
the rest, i love the idea of the flying carpet, flying tech discs, and......well...... ok I don't like the broom, but i wouldn't begrudge it to anyone else. i think these would be relatively easy to pull off as a simple fly emote, as opposed to a variant of the power. we could push for some love in the emote department in specific regards to travel powers, like the fly emotes we got a couple years ago.
oh, and welcome to the forums, hope you stick around for a bit.
Oh yeah, that was the time that girl got her whatchamacallit stuck in that guys dooblickitz and then what his name did that thing with the lizards and it cleared right up.
screw your joke, i want "FREEM"

wow, 6 months on this game and you are already at "snarky jerk" level....... grats.......

More customization options for travel powers has been something I have wanted since I started, long before I dinged "snarky jerk". It was a good idea when it was first suggested, and remains a good idea today.
As always...

After looking at the travel powers from champions online, I think just the power animations for city of heroes can be seriously overhauled. I think superjump is by far one of the most useful travel powers, accept i never choose it because its boring to play.
If you look at the animations for SJ in champions your character flails their limbs in a running motion to make the leap feel more "super" unlike the current "hold your knees to your chest until you hit the ground" animation, and it's also complimented by the small "shattered ground" display at the bottom of each leap.
Secondly, you could easily add a surf board type power (or emote) to CoH. They look more fun than the current fly emotes and appeal visually much more.
Next you have superspeed, this animation, in my opinion is rather dinky looking. I'd love super speed if they had an animation similar to say...a speed skater's movements, simply because just the movements of your character make you feel like you're going faster than you are. It adds a more "epic" visual affect.
How about, like in champions online, have some kind of sonic boom affect around your character when you reach a specific movement speed. It's just more visually appealing, and it makes the player feel more "super" while playing.
Also, there is a HUGE amount of addatives to emotes in the fly department, if you had some kind of hover disk/board, the attack animations would remain almost the same!
Wanna play a Peacebringer? Don't believe the hype. Check out my guide and get the real truth:

The only characters it would even be appropriate for are ones who could reasonably weigh over 1,000 pounds.
Not to be grotesque about it, but have you ever seen what happens when a normal human body falls from a great height onto concrete? The human body takes quite a bit of damage, probably a lethal amount. The concrete is unharmed (though it IS a little messy). Human beings just don't weigh enough to cause that kind of damage to the ground when Super Jumping.

You can't just turn an emote on and start attacking, because emotes and attacks are mutually exclusive. If you attack something while you are doing an emote, the attack animation overrides the emote and it does not turn back on afterward.
I also have it on good authority (from BackAlleyBrawler about a year and a half before he left) that it is not as simple as adding an emote to a travel power. Each travel power has it's own animation, they aren't even very similar to how emotes work.

Point is, most of us aren't normal humans here. We don't splash on the concrete. Given an average-weight hero of 150 pounds, falling from a a few hundred feet up and landing on a few square inches of feet, it's possible that sidewalks could crack with enough abuse. For some of these 300-lb+ meatshields you see bounding around, it wouldn't be a surprise at all.

Just want to point out that forum reg date is not necessarily an indicator of how long someone has been playing. You have to register separately on the forum and you can put that off quite a bit. I started in July 2005, for instance.

still, despite the chance he's a grizzled in-game vet, new to the forums is new to the forums, and ambiguously worded taunting on his first post is probably not the best idea. one reason i "clicked" with this game so fast, and for so long is the great community, nice vets in game that answered every dumb question i had, would randomly drop lvl50 enhancers on me so i could sell 'em, 'n friendly and helpful forum goers, who explained "dead horse" issues to me when i thought i had just come up with a blockbuster of an idea. the poster apologized, said he didn't mean it to sound that way, so the OP doesn't feel like he being blasted for being new, all's well that ends well.

I am not a seasoned vet by any means, and remember clearly how it felt to be new. I had a similar experience as you Traegus when I started out. Very helpful players and forum goers to answer every dumb question I had. As penance for my unintentional insult I will share an embarrassing
"newb" story. Keep in mind this is not only the first MMO I have ever played, but also the first non-console video game (minesweeper excluded) I had ever played.
Running around the Atlas statue platform I somehow found myself in one of the shallow pools of water. I ran back and forth trying to find a way out. After about five minutes another player my level comes up and asks if I would like to join a team. Since I was a trial player at the time, I said in local chat for all nearby to hear, "I would love to team up if I could figure out a way to get out of this pool." He politely explained that pressing the spacebar would allow me to jump and free myself of my watery confines. Lesson learned. I took some good natured ribbing for the folks nearby, but it was all in good fun.
Sorry, that was totally unrelated to the thread, but I felt the need for self-deprication.

Anyway, I think that the character just flailing their arms like they just got fired by a slingshot would be pretty humorous.
Seven years of heroism. Seven years of friendships. Seven years of saving the world. Seven years of virtuous selflessness.
You will return, for you are the mighty City of Paragon, the City of Heroes.
