Praetorian Invasion: War Council ((FAQ + OOC Discussion))
That depends on how many wounds we've got to lick.
Due to a change in RL plans I won't be able to make it tonight. I will be keeping an eye on this thread and taking part in stuff as best I can.
with all the revisions can we have a clear out line of tonights plan, and who will be allowed in .. i am thinking about possible Pro - Cole faction spys, and other interested parties outside of the main SG / VGs that will have been called in, also what about VEATs ?
Looks like we've got a bunch of people who can't make it, and further meetings are going to be a tad difficult, seeing as we're only getting hit with the one raid. Would Monday be better?
Is anyone good with maps and making them look pretty?
AP volunteered for Indy Port duty and it would be neat to take the map of Indy and divide it up. Trouble is, I'm terrible at that sort of thing.
It would also help me in 'recruiting' people for each divided section of Indy Port.
Well, the meeting, as could perhaps be expected, started off as an exercise in futility and bickering. There were representatives from pretty much every major group in the city and no-one organising it. No-one really had anything to add beyond rampant speculation, and believe me, there was a lot of that. Nothing by way of organisation, but a lot of talking.
Fortunately, this changed when Arachnos decided to step in and take charge of the meeting. Really, it’s starting to get worrying at this point how competent the Krimzon Guard is being compared to the average hero. I am started to suspect they wear their underpants on the outside because they don’t know how to dress themselves properly. With Sorrow’s Kiss chairing the meeting stuff finally started to happen. Firstly, we went down all the groups and assessed their capabilities and ability to respond.
For those who care, the groups represented consisted of:
· New Heroes Union
· Court of the Blood Countess
· Unity Vigil
· The Corporation
· The Militia
· Liberty Force
· Solace colony
· Nighthunters
· Arbiter Thorn’s mercenary group
· Krimzon Guard
· PPD
· Arachnos
· Lockout
We then had Z describe the IDF forces. We then had… many ideas of how best to defend against them, and I’m just going to skip past all of them, except to point out that the Arbiter’s suggestion of using the WEB device did not go down well. Shockingly, it took rather a long time before someone suggested… you know… doing the same thing we do for all the other invasions. Namely, forming several groups and assign them to defend specific areas. They would be able to respond to any incursion and slow them down long enough for reinforcements from other zones to arrive. We then started breaking down who would do what, so I’m bringing out that list again.
· New Heroes Union – Apparently no-one loves the NHU, but given there seemed to be a major concern over Independence Port, they’ll probably go there or something.
· Court of the Blood Countess - Well, it wasn’t mentioned, but I guess they’ll be covering Cap Au Diable.
· Unity Vigil – Skyway City
· The Corporation – Again, not mentioned, but if I had to guess, I’d say Sharkhead.
· The Militia – Kings Row
· Liberty Force – Civilian defence, also Peregrine Island
· Solace colony – surveillance and first aid, also Astoria
· Nighthunters – Croatoa and Steel Canyon
· Arbiter Thorn’s mercenary group - Mercy
· Krimzon Guard – Again, not discussed, I guess the plan is to just drop King into hotspots when they develop.
· PPD – Guess, go on.
· Arachnos – I’m not even going to say.

Slight amendments...
The reason Sorrow's Kiss was assigned the role of Chairperson (and did it very well) was because Zorielle more or less demanded someone do the job and SK offered to do it. Some heroes are capable of organisation.
Psyan, resident psychic at the UV, suggested the obvious plan and everyone immediately agreed. Though, yeah, what else are we going to do.
There were a fair few people standing at the back and saying nothing. No one seemed to want to ask whether any of them had any inside knowledge on Praetoria... like where the Rift generator is...

Actually, I think it was more a case of great minds (in comparison to the general standard) thinking alike. Sorrow’s finally decided to intervene very slightly before the suggestion was made, which was rather good timing.
05-07-2011 19:28:17 [SuperGroup] Sorrow's Kiss: I fear I may have to put in some suggestions before our whole world is lost. 05-07-2011 19:28:27 Zortel looks around. "Would anyone be willing to act as chairperson for this congregation? Perhaps we could benefit from the structure of business meetings." |
Really, I should post a log of all the things the Krimzon Guard had to say about the meeting, it was quite amusing, given we had the three rather sarcastic members of the group in attendance.

^ My character was of the opinion that the whole thing was a massive waste of time, and that everyone except her was doomed.

Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

They have lots of portals/rift generators/enclosures and so on, heck they can even use Berrys tower as one.
I didn't bring it up, because I know that there isn't much we can do back there to stop or slow it. So I was working from an entirely defence-based, weather the storm view. Also, Zori called for a chair person to nominate themselves because she didn't want to seem in charge, and I didn't want to seem in charge. It worked out rather well, and the whole thing went better than I was expecting.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

You've been Blueside how long and not noticed this?

Most of the interesting stuff was said after the meeting formally broke up, no on seemed to pay any attention to Thrice standing there., the logo on his black tee shirt was too small it seems.
From Thrice’s personal notes…
The Longbow Rep did a good job of making Longbow look baddies we all know them to be, cooperation is clearly not a word in their dictionary. The Corp looked overtly helpful. The posers managed to inflate their egos, and the main body of heroes seems a bit lost and uncertain of what to do.
A major air drop of Sun Tzu’s seminal work is what Paragon needs, or maybe as an eBook .
Note to self , put in a requisition for extra bullets.

I agree that the whole meeting went well. And I actually found the earlier bickering thoroughly amusing.
Agreed.
Who was it who suggested nuking Paragon when the Praetorians invaded to halt the problem in its tracks?

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Claire was one of those lurking at the back, as she was just there to observe. And probably call Daddy after to tell him how things went.
I'm sure the fact that she also promptly suggested Venessa leave the City is no reflection on the way things were conducted...
However, it turned out that Smith was not a time-travelling Terminator
It's a good plan. Heavy Praetorian losses is a believable enough explanation for such a short-lived inva- erm, visit. We could then follow up with cross-SG BAF/Lamda runs if we wanted, well after Wednesday, as we did with the MMB Project/Lady Grey TF during Big Lunk's Anti-Rikti Council of War? Maybe?
