Portal Corp announced today that Eka Upsilon 5-2, also known as “Carnie Earth” has been deemed hazardous in light of recently surfaced information. Civilians are being advised not to visit the world under any circumstances and envoys from Eka Upsilon 5-2 would no longer be premitted lawful access to Primal Earth.
Portal Corp refused to comment on whether any hostile action would be taken to safeguard Primal Earth, but asked that heroes remain vigilant for infiltration, subornation or energy stealing.
Representatives from Eka Upsilon 5-2 were unavailable for comment, and have reportedly evacuated their facilities on Primal. -

A very detailed report on the dimension designated Eka Upsilon 5 2 was sent to all of these and more by Susan Bright, psionics instructor to the New Vigilantes. Included in the report are translations of incriminating documents stolen during an earlier raid on the dimension (as well as copies of the Russian originals). More importantly, also included are details of a large low-level psionic field covering possibly the entire world and acting as a behaviour modifying field. In addition, energy fluctuations within the field are shown to be near identical to those associated with the Carnival of Shadows on Primal Earth, and interpreted as being the same form of energy stealing from living humans.
Conversation between Vyera and unknown female.
Quote:Vyera: -on't think it's work the effort at all in my opinion, the information I obtained points to some fair nicer worlds we can look into. We have the time and opportunity to shop around, I don't see why we should go for the first place we happened to find. the place is a dump, to be honest, a dump that will fight back.
[fragment missing?]
Vyera: you know, I think I'm going to like this place, the view is lovely
???: Oh yes, it’s more or less in the heard of the city. I think you managed to impress her.
Vyera: we'll need to contact Orion about security
???: Yes ma’am
Vyera: this place might be warded, but I am damn certain there's going to be reprisals from primal. Artemis as well, I want some anti kheldian weapons
???: anti-kheldian? we might have someone making them…
Vyera: I don't know, look into it.
???: Do you really think that cat's that much of a threat?
Vyera: I can't see her at all and she has a cloaking device. Not to mention....
???: You think she was the one who raided the bases on primal?
Vyera: yes
???: and she *did* punch you
Vyera: exactly
???: Do you really think they're actually going to attack though?
Vyera: oh yes, probably here to be honest. I did somewhat make myself a target. they're going to think I have the child
[fragment missing?]
Vyera: well, that or petty revenge.
???: and we did steal their portal technology
Vyera: that too. It's certainly what *I'd* do
[fragment missing?]
Vyera: and they do have that other me running around
???: What, Venessa?
Vyera: no, the other one. The *competent* one.
???: The Fateweaver?
Vyera: Mmm
[fragment missing?]
Vyera: exactly, it was a stupid idea to attack her in the first place. The traitor aside, that's the reason we failed, and it was her that came up with it.
???: do you think she did it on purpose? To try and get you killed?
Vyera: I don't think it was. Just stupidity. Or over confidence.
???: it doesn't matter, we managed to get her back
Vyera: oh yes
[fragment missing?]
Vyera: no, DeVore was *very* pleased with that. I am going to have *fun* breaking her
???: Try not to do it too quickly though.
Vyera: was there anything else?
???: there is that doctor, : the one who contacted us about an alliance.
Vyera: oh yes, the good doctor, I'm going to have to reassure him about what's happened. he *does* have a way of getting here doesn't he.
???: I don’t know. I think he might be able to. He can probably find an arachnos portal device or something.
Vyera: well, until we build one it's not like we have any way of going back there.
???: do you think he'll try and contact us again?
Vyera: well, I did tell him this might happen
[fragment missing?]
Vyera: we'll keep an eye on the place, see if he turns up. If he does, bring him up
*the figure nods*
???: I’ll tell the others then.
Vyera: lovely. Now, I think I need a much deserved relax
???: Have fun then.
Fragments extracted from a conversation between Vyera and a female prisoner.
Quote:Vyera: oh don't give me that
???: you expected anything less of me
Vyera: Mistress Vyera: you could try *something* to get some measure of clemency, you seem good at it
???: fine, tell me what you want me to do then, you obviously want me for something or I would be dead
Vyera: you told the Primal’s the location of our base, *everyone* we had suborned. Were it not for my forward planning, we would have lost everyone *and* the portal technology. This is not some power play, this is betrayal.
???: fine, you want to know why I "betrayed" you, link with me
Vyera: I am not going to sully myself traipsing though your mind
???: then I will tell you and you will have to trust me when I say what I’m gonna tell you is true
Vyera: sweetie, I have lots of people who are more than happy to dissect your brain. Well.... vivisect.
???: they caught me, they injected me with some crap that would have turned me into some bloody walking zombie, a bound slave to your counterparts, counterpart
Vyera: and you hoped that if you told them everything they’d let you go?
???: I could have told them what I did knowing you had contingency plan, or waited for the injection to take effect and told them everything, including the contingency plan. It was the lesser of two evils. And yes I did hope they would let me go
Vyera: do you know what happened to Rei? They captured her, and tortured her, and she didn't break. Eventually, she provided only meagre amount information in exchange for allowing her an honourable death, so that she could die rather than betray us
???: and probably because of that they injected me with that zombie juice crap
???: then good for her, but I didn’t get that much of a choice
Vyera: you could have told them the false story we already discussed; reveal Rei, yourself and Paul and no others, not reveal to them *everything*.
???: Venom already knew more than our little cover story V
???: really, tell me oh mighty leader, tell me did I have a shotgun lying in my cell that I couldn’t see?
Vyera: like *you* need a shotgun
Mistress Vyera: is this the level you have stooped to? petty insults?
???: well it keeps me entertained
Vyera: well, who am I to crush what few pleasures you have left
Vyera: do you even *want* clemency?
???: and be some puppet for you, no, I want a public spectacle, lots of people to see my execution
Mistress Vyera: oh?: do you want to be a martyr?
Vyera: …and *then* have you executed, still, I think your death would serve better to commemorate our expansion into other worlds. Like breaking a bottle on a new ship, except in this case, you're the bottle.
Vyera: me?
???: come on admit it V, you were more straight laced, like the military that used to run this world, all tactics and plans, no fun what so ever
Vyera: *someone* needs to be good at it, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, but all play and no work is just as bad
???: I agree when we were "in character" but while we were in the warehouse?
???: you are telling me you betrayed me? Betrayed our troupe? Betrayed *Vanessa*? because I was not providing ample entertainment?
???: what have I got to lose
Mistress Vyera: my fleeting reserves of goodwill? the use of your legs?
???: fine
Vyera: I did not even cut a deal to save my own skin at the expense of the rest
Vyera: do you see this lovely building we are standing it? it was a gift, all of it

It is not long before one of the spa workers returns to Tomb, and after a examining her briefly for a moment, leaves with a faint knowing smile on her face. She is replaced soon enough by Vyera however, who sits down next to Tomb.
“Hello again. I see you’ve been experimenting.”
Tomb, still basking in the afterglow of the experience, takes a second or two to respond.
“Oh, was I supposed to ask first? I did not wish to introduce your treatment Vyera.”
“Oh of course not, I just didn't expect you to try again so soon,” responded Vyera, brushing her concern off with a wave of her hand. “There really isn't anything that compares is there?”
“There really isn't, it's beyond words, at least any words I have encountered”
“Well, hopefully I'll have time to teach you to manage to do everything by yourself, without the amulet. Still, you should pace yourself; it can be a bit psychologically addictive.”
“I see, will the feeling of need pass, if I remove the mask? If this feeling only last a day, I'm afraid it might be hard to control my pace.”
“Oh, it's just a matter of a bit of metal discipline, I mean, it's not like there'll be any actual harm if you go and binge, although I will need to refill that reliquary for you. The thing to do is draw it out, to not consume it all at once."
“Draw it out, I see, well that can be done, after all I'm not a glutton.”
“Well, in a bit you can try again, but this time taking it slower and not using it up all at once. You really should worry though, I’ve known people with much more voracious appetites than you, and they managed just fine. You just relax and enjoy yourself, there’s really very little to worry about.”
With that, Vyera stands, turning to leave.
“You just come and find me when you want to try again and I’ll walk you through it.” -
After a fairly sedate breakfast the Vyera and her entourage are whisked off to the spa and a day of pampering begins. The facilities themselves are top notch, although there is the slightly conspicuous absence of any kind of facial therapy on the schedule. The staff is almost exclusively female, and seems to be on fairly friendly terms with Vyera and seem to be extending this hospitality to her guests.
By around mid afternoon, during a pedicure, the wondrous and energising feelings brought on from the earlier feeding seem at last to dissipate completely and Tomb is left with something of a craving, a hunger to experience the vitalising pleasure again.
The thirst is not particularly strong, and does not seem to get any stronger with time, nor however, does it seem to fade either. It’s like a persistent itch that doesn’t seem to want go away. Food, drink or rest seem to do nothing to abate it, although the soothing presence of the mask itself seems to at least compensate to some small degree.
When there are plenty of other distractions, it is barely perceptible, only being noticeable again if someone were to draw attention to it, other times; it is far more unrelenting, although never really rising beyond that of a minor pang of hunger. Focusing on it does seem to make the urge more unbearable however, during those times it is possible can almost picture the wondrous vitalising energy surging through one’s body again; to feel the taste of those sublime feelings of bliss. -
((This is a continuation of the shenanigans involving Tomb and Vyera, since my internet connection is currently unreliable))
June 14th, Vyeras Mansion, Eka Upsilon 5 2
The day after Vyeras birthday was a pleasant one, slightly overcast with some sun, the temperature looking to reach a high 22 degrees. All in all, a fairly lovely midsummer day.
Vyera rose for breakfast slightly after 9 oclock, dress in a fairly light and casual green and blue ensemble. It was transparently clear that she was happy with something, and barely trying to conceal it as she sat on a patio and consumed her croissant and orange juice. -
If I may? Interjected Vyera, before carrying on regardless. I change of over 100 degrees in a matter of years is rather... astounding, and to be perfectly honest, coupled with the sentiment ice monsters, suggests an intelligent agent behind this. How did it begin? Did the temperatures drop globally or did it spread out from the poles or somewhere else?
-
The delegation from Eka-Upsilon-52 sat, or perhaps more accurately, huddled, in one corner of the room. The general impression was if a bird of paradise had decided to expand in its colour repertoire with the help of a peacock and a rainbow. A rather cold bird of paradise. It wasn't even like they were particularly underdressed, it looked like several expensive or brightly coloured small furry animals had died for the sake of fashion, but even their noble sacrifice seems insufficient against the frigid temperatures of the room. There was a faint undercurrent of unease, although they were all doing their best to disguise the fact.
The one obvious exception to this was Vyera, dressed in one of her usual green and blue ensembles, who looked quite comfortable. This almost certainly had something to do with the faint shimmer in the air that seemed to surround her, almost like a heat haze. She leaned back in her chair slightly, waiting for the conference to start, a faint smile playing across her features. -
Well, most of the problem is that up until pretty recently, the world was quite static, so it wasn’t really a problem; when we did have a zone update, like the destruction of Galaxy or the second Rikti war it’s pretty easy to incorporate, as those clearly change the in game zones and once they happen… well you’re back to a new static status quo.
As a rule, individual story arcs didn’t happen, as it just doesn’t make sense of everyone to be the hero that personally helped to defeat Reichsman, or the villain that stole the blood coral.
I think right now we are just finding our feet in terms or how we adapt a more dynamic changing game world, where we have a lot of world altering events happening in instances and missions, to our shared IC continuity. Esepcially when we find a story arc, which previously was ignored, is suddenly "a thing that has happened" with significant consequences. -
Zombie Post!
Suddenly Statesman not dying yet has become an issue, because Nemesis is invading in a big event that will last all of may in response to the guy croaking it.
There are pretty much two options.
- Just ignore the reason for Nemesis's massive offensive
- Have Statesman die in the next couple of days.
The rest of the arc we can ignore for the moment as not being particularly newsworthy, or, not yet revealed. Unless we have any characters with strong ties to the Freedom Phalanax, it's quite reasonable no-one would know about the Malase-Psyche showdown just yet. Aside from the death of Statesman, the death of Alexis is the only other newsworthy big deal it would be silly for people not to know about publicly.
Anyway, that's all from me, continuing to play the role of the guy who thinks far too hard about encorporating in game plot into RP. -
The first arc is from a (living) carnie mistress in First Ward, and her first mission consists of her telling you that DeVore wants you to free Katie from the network. Night Ward just follows on directly from where First Ward ended.
The fact that the seer network is still about indicates MoM hasn't happened, and the fact that DeVore seems to still be about giving orders kinda indicates UG hasn't happened yet. -
Night Ward follows on directly from the First Ward story arcs, there is no reference to any of the war stuff I can recall, and given the level range, I believe it takes place before all that stuff anyway.
DeVore is also still alive, so at the very least that at least places it before UG. -
Quote:You forgot Sutter.And, on topic, I'm agreeing that things up to Keyes should now be considered canon. i.e.;
1) Apex and Tin-Mage happened. Damage mostly around PPD HQ (Kings) and Blyde Square (Steel) which has since been repaired/merged into the background junk. Grandville and Peregrine were attacked as per Tin Mage, again having been repaired (Face it, Portal Corps is probably at nothing but a state of 'Stand-By' since forever...)
Neutropolis was hit to cripple that phase of the attack, and Neutron and Bobcat were both beaten. They are 'still around'.
2) The BAF has been taken offline. Siege and Nightstar are still 'somewhere', after being beaten by 'The Strike-Team' (faceless Heroes and Villains, etc)
3) Lambda will have been hit, taking a chunk out of the Praetorian production line, etc. Praetor White lost to 'The Strike-Team', and is currently raging, licking his wounds, whatever 'somewhere'.
3) Vanguard and allies are making forays into Praetoria and defending against further Praetorian strikes.
Also, I don’t think the BAF should be taken out, raided yes, but the BAF should still be running, otherwise we fall into the problems of the events of the war being a game changer.
Without further ado, here is a provisional event timeline. I would like to acknowledge RosaQuartz and her timeline on the beta forums, which I have shamelessly adapted.
Initial attack by IDF forces - This is the big invasion event that happened. From what I remember PI, Cap and St. Martial were hit. IDF forces attempted to disable the PTS system in Cap to cripple RI’s defences, and also assaulted Double Down to act as as a beachhead to push further in. While they did take the base, they were pushed back by a massed counterattack.
Heroside, I think they were just trying to capture the Portal Corp facilities, I don’t know, I was directing efforts in the Isles.
“The Sky Is Falling” (Admiral Sutter TF)
- Using an alliance with the Sky Raiders, Praetorians establish a large-scale portal and warworks factory on a makeshift floating fortress in the Atlantic Ocean and pull through an IDF expeditionary force.
- A joint force of the US Navy and Paragon City heroes destroy the portal, but Praetorians establish a beach-head on Talos Island and advance to Skyway City using the underground sewer system.
- A portion of Skyway City is devastated under the orders of Praetorian IDF Colonel Duray and executed by Powers Division members Jane Temblor and Fusion. IDF forces are defeated, despite Sky Raider air support.
- Praetorians attack Terra Volta and shut down the power plant despite the efforts of the Freedom Phalanx and other premier hero groups.
- Warworks attack on PPD HQ in Kings Row is beaten back.
- Battle Maiden strikes Blyde Square in Steel Canyon from near-earth orbit, and defeats Valkyrie, but she and her Warrior Earth battalion are stopped by supers working with Vanguard.
- Battle Maiden is captured, and ends up in a Vanguard facility in Siberia, but was recently broken out by Malta during the Mot timeline.
“The Praetorian Offensive” (Tin Mage Mark II TF)
- The War Works secretly hidden in Nerva Archipelago emerge and quickly secure the island, including Crey HQ. Malta Operatives attempt to oppose them.
- Vanguard sends a task force to Nerva to push back the Praetorians, gain the favor of Lord Recluse in the war effort, and keep Malta from acquiring War Walker tech.
- The Praetorians launch simultaneous assaults on Portal Corps and Grandville Tower. The Vanguard top brass assist in repelling the attack in Grandville, while the Vanguard task force defends Portal Corps.
- Using intel provided by a Goliath War Walker’s memory core, Portal Corps scientists trace the rift enclosure to Neuron’s Tower in Neutropolis. Portal Corps sends the Vanguard task force to Neutropolis, and there they are able to defeat Neuron, Bobcat, and the Goliath War Walkers that make up the spine of the invasion army and (presumably) disable Neuron’s rift enclosure.
Interlude - Without authorization, Colonel Duray sends captured Hamidon Seedlings via rift openings over Talos and Sharkhead Islands to soften Primal Earth defenses. For this initiative (and for the loss of civilian life on Primal Earth due to his attack on Skyway City) Duray is executed by Emperor Cole personally. A new Duray clone is put in service.
Primal Earth counterattack
Behavioral Adjustment Facility Raid
- Raid on the the BAF in Imperial City.
- The raid prevents Siege and Nightstar from using brainwashed Resistance commandos as unwitting human bomb, to black mark the Resistance, provide more propaganda opportunities and to act as sleeper agents.
- Siege and Nightstar are destroyed in the raid, but they are robots, so… they get better.
- Attack on the the IDF staging ground in Neutropolis
- IDF weapon stockpiles are destroyed.
- Marauder attempted to protect the facility, but is beaten.

Are you suggesting that if America was invaded the rest of the world would do nothing? Especially since Cole has made it clear he intends to conquer the entire planet.
Vanguards entire job is to defend the world from inter-dimentional invasions; they arent just gone to look at the IDF invading, shrug, and go well, I never really liked America or the Isles. As for Vanguard invading another world (as part of their job). Vanguard is supposed to invade according to the Praetorian war plot from the Devs. It starts with Dark Watcher working with the Resistance and ends with Vanguard working to capture Imperial City. -
How is this situation any different to the Rikti? The fact is the Praetorians invaded . Sure, there might have been some dicking around by Longbow, Arachnos, Vanguard, Crey and basically everyone with portal technology first. Seriously, everyone seems to end up going to Pretoria, but in terms of the war, Cole attacked, with a big army. Are you really suggesting the world would stand by and do nothing after that?
The simple fact is, we acknowledge the existence of the war and we’ve even fended off a couple of invasions in the form of the big in game events where the devs threw IDF at us. We’ve just ignored everything else.
The fact that international politics in the game is different is a whole other matter. (I'm looking at you, Warburg and... the effective UN backed military which is Vanguard).
As for the damage caused by the TFs, the general consensus seems to be that we just assume the damage was less severe than depicted. Also, there is the fact that the events are supposed to have happened a couple of years ago by now, any damage would have easily been repaired. -
I hope you love wall of texts, because I do. This is an idea I raised yesterday on URP, and seemed to be met with positive or neutral response. So I will outline my idea here
BEWARE SPOILERS!
The Praetorian war has gone stale, not because the developers have stopped providing content, but because we have skirted around what content there has been, for the most part we have been reluctant to even touch the stuff, due to the massive potential ramifications IC. The Praetorian war is an elephant in the room, and I think we should sort it out.
The general “consensus” is that it is simply impractical to incorporate the evolving Praetorian War plot into RP because it disrupts the current status quo too much and basically will shortly prevent any new RPer from bringing in a Praetorian, as well as neutralise a lot of Praetorian concepts. So, we have just kind of ignored the entire thing. It’s been left hanging. We have had two IC attacks and then, inexplicably, deathly silence.
For those who don’t know, the war is slated to end with Cole nuking a (thankfully evacuated) Nova. Mother is dead, DeVore is dead, Yin and Auora Borealis are free, Scott is crazy, the truce with Hamidon is off and Imperial in the hands of Vanguard. A lot of stuff is supposed to happen, and it's easy to see why people have kept away from events unfolding IC. [Seriously, why would you do that Cole? We had a Crusader plot to dentate a neutron bomb in the city and they were labelled as completely insane, with Marchand stating that if an undercover Loyalist actually helped detonate the bomb, it would be an irredeemable act of crazy terrorism. I mean, Cole didn’t even kill any of the invaders, I’m not even sure if mastermind pets die. And seriously, you are blowing up a third of what is the only remaining nice place on the planet to vaguely inconvenience your enemies?]
Nothing up to Keyes is a game changer though, incorporating them, unlike the death of DeVore, or Mother or even Keyes going of the deep end isn’t going to cause problems. Arguably there is the problem that during the assault on Lambda Marauder gets beaten, and since he disappears from later content, we can reasonably assume he is dead or captured or something. In terms of the trial itself however, and the fact that the later content is incompatible, it’s not really an issue. Heroic forces storm Lambda sector, destroy weapon stockpiles and even end up defeating White.
I think we can easily incorporate some of the… less… well… game changing events. And I am of the opinion that this is a good thing, because it’s more potential fodder to talk about if the war is every brought up. Otherwise we’ve had a total of, what? Two invasions? That is a pretty anaemic war. The Rikti manage more than that, and Cole is supposed to be a big serious threat. But right now we have had two invasions and then a great wall of silence. Right now the Praetorian was is a de facto cold war. It’s not supposed to be, but it’s ended up like that because nothing has happened IC to speak of, and we have no real explanation of why it's a cold war other than something we just make up to address the current practical situation. When the war is mentioned, and quite a lot of the time it is just skirted round, I’m not sure whether I should go with the practical position that we have entered a state of cold war, or try and acknowledge the wishes of the devs, which is that the war is still hot. We are, after all, supposed to be fighting.
Why should we even bother? You might ask. Well, it’s because without clearly accepting this content as “stuff that has happened” we don’t know where we stand on events in RP. With this everyone is on the same page, and we have a war with actual content and development. We have an initial Praetorian offensive and a Primal counterattack to neuter their war machine, resulting in a de facto state of cold war. If the war is ever mentioned we don’t have to keep skirting round the entire issue, unsure of what is or is not accepted as IC. Rather than the current vague uncertain limbo we can just put a cap on things, and if we have any new people who want to know what the state of the war if Praetoria is, we can just point them to that content and say “this is stuff that has happened", and we are now in an effective stalemate.
You might not care, but the person with the Resistance character, or the Vanguard character or the loyalist probably does. This way, if we wanted, we could even have an IC Lambda raid. It would just be (yet another) attack to help make sure Cole doesn’t have the capability to wage war.
In conclusion, the Praetorian war is a stale joke because we have just kind of kept away from it due to the perceived problems. This is bad for a community role-play where we need to know where events stand. Therefore I suggest we make all the events of the war up to Keyes “things which have happened”. This will give the war actual substance and provide an explanation for the current state of effective stalement.

Shockly enough, no.
Anyway yes, Vyera met a loyalist to talk about somewhat questionable things in a supposedly secluded spot in First Ward. She did that, but then became somewhat suspicious when a nearby seer referred to fleeing suspects. She disguised herself as Venom and flew up to take a look and spotted Caleb hiding behind a rock.
A fight then erupted between the Loyalists and Resistance, with Vyera content to sit there invisibly watching the fight. Until she got bored or something, and decided to start going after the Carnival of Light member. This attracted some attention, and she decided to scarper. Unfortunately, someone managed to shoot her, and being completely invisible isnt too useful if youre bleeding profusely.
Anyway, apparently everyone decided they had nothing better to do than follow and invisibly bleeding person, so the entire horde of Resistance people followed Vyera into a DUST base where she had fled.
Fortunately for her, while the quartet of DUST troopers standing watch at the door did delay the Resistance forces for about five seconds before being cut down, they did somewhat tip her off that she was being followed. She ended up cauterising her wound to stop the bleeding and hobbled as quickly as she could to find Lucille (who had been told to go hide somewhere not obvious when combat started going down) and running away.
As Vyera was hiding round a corner stopping herself bleeding, the commotion at the door had caught the attention of a DUST Leader, who went to investigate and also ended up dying messily, but not before sounding the alarm. Three nearby DUST rangers who were in the security office ended up running in to assist, and then discovering things were rather nasty, so they fell back into the lab and took cover behind the workbenches. This didnt do much to save them, and they were promptly squished.
They had, however, bought time for the DUST forces to rally somewhat, as a quartet of three Rangers and another Leader set managed to set up another barracade at the end of a corridor, laying down suppressive fire and frag grenades. The Resistance Terrorists were able to seek shelter in the security office, which was to the side of the corridor, and Caleb ended up throwing one of his plasma batteries at them.
Meanwhile, DUST troopers were hastily trying to activate some of the floating gun drone turret things the IDF has. They were able to get one set up at the top of the stairs, ready to lay down heavy plasma fire. Unfortunately, they ended up being quickly taken out through a combination of mind control and people flying at them above their line of fire. The second team, unable to advance, just ended up setting up the turret in engineering bay.
Meanwhile, as it was becoming increasly clear the base wasnt going to be able to hold off against the Resistance fighters, the DUST personnel began a full scale evacuation, setting up a half dozen proximity mines in the mess hall to buy time. It was around this point that Provost Walker entered the fight, and also Vyera managed to limp to the mess hall.
The Resistance forces proceeded to punch Walker in the face enough times to force him to mediport out, and then proceeded to drop part of the ceiling on the one remaining gun emplacement, horribly killing one of the DUST rangers, blowing up the turret and causing the other to flee into the mess hall.
Our heroes then burst into the mess hall, and were somewhat suspicious of the complete lack of anything there. One of the Resistance members flying up to get a good view quickly determined the presence of the mines, although there was some debate as to how to get passed them. It was at more of less this point Vyera managed to reach the control centre and hastily drag Lucille away, leaving her orange jacket in the process.
Eventually, after some squabbling, Caleb managed to disable most of the mine by punching the ground hard enough to cause a shockwave. He then decided to try this again, and, after determining the location of the remaining mines, wandered up close to one of them to try again. Unfortunately he wandered a bit too close, and the mine detonated. After this, the final mine was destroyed by shooting at it.
With the final defences dealt with, the Resistance forces stormed the control centre. Unfortunately for them, the control centre was protected by a couple of rather large blast doors. These were dealt with and they finally managed to burst into the haistly evacuated control centre. Caleb, somewhat annoyed that everyone had run away, grabbed the ostentatious jacket and left though a hole caused by them blowing up all those mines. Mircala, however, decided to stick around and look for some actual clues, and downloaded a whole load of information of the bases computer system before setting the generator to overload.
And that was that. -
Don't *tell* people that. Now we willl have people aiming for 8 pm and it actually starting at 9.
-
Sure, I'll get round to it (plus adding more detail) when I have time. If someone else wants to make a start, feel free.

Quote:I was under the impression Heather had sent the civilians (who had been drawn to DA) there to shelter when Mot first work up. It's a bit unclear. In regard to your day 1 event:
The people dying in the warehouse is quite some time ago. Not a recent event.
Also I think taging this with * Spoilers * is customary.
I will make the spoiler tag larger. -
Quote:Well, apparently Requiem brought back some power from Cimerora (probably Nictus) which has empowered him and his troops to incarnate levels. That is a really cool timeline. Now..if we could just get one for ALL the events in CoX, like the TF plots, SSA's etc...that would be something really cool to see.
About the only thing in the DA plot I had an issue with, was Requiem beating up Reichsman. Sure, old Reichs was only at his full power near his machine, but he was still 'invincible' away from it. He still has more HP than ANY normal, non incarnate hero.av in game..suggesting he is on a different scale of power.
As for Req,..the guy is a gimp. On itf, he often dies before people even realise he is there, from aoes. He powered up Rommy..somehow..but not himself? Ok..yet now, he is beating up arguably the toughest guy about.
I'm pretty Reichsman himself was only so incredibly powerful because of the empowerment machine. Using the dimentional grounding ray to temporarily sever his connection only served to weaken him enough that he could be killed, but he was still empowered enough to take forever to be killed. With the machine completely destroyed though, he's back to being normal AV. -

I have completed all the arcs and vaguely divided things into days
Sunday 11th, Day 5

Article from the front page of the St. Petersburg Times.
An attack yesterday by a half dozen unidentified metahumans, during an offical visit by Culture Minister Alexandra Avdeyev, has left over 100 people dead any many more wounded during their 20 minute rampage though the centre of Saint Petersburg. OMON forces were quickly dispatched to the area, but could do little to stop the super-powered onslaught. The group of terrorists were finally forced to flee the by the arrival of an Artemis Heavy Assault Mech that was stationed at the Naval base in Kronshtadt. Police report the group have not been sighted since.
“It was damn lucky [the Artemis Heavy unit] was there,” Reported one surviving police officer. “It was the only thing that could have stood a chance. We couldn’t stop them, god knows we tried. A tank couldn’t have stopped them. Flash bangs, armour piercing rounds, frag grenades, light mortars… they just kept coming. We just tried to do what we could […] hold them off to buy time for the civilians to be evacuated, to try and keep them contained until [heavy reinforcements] arrived.”
While the final death toll is not yet known, 96 OMON servicemen have been confirmed dead, with another 91 seriously injured. Approximately two dozen civilians have been reported dead, with hundreds more injured or missing.
The attack occurred a scheduled visit to Lady Vyera and other local dignitaries late last night. A lone metahuman began planting explosives in the city centre and then began to engage the police units sent in to respond. Shortly after, a larger group of super beings began assaulting the office building containing the Minister. Police believe the lone bomber may have been a decoy, designed to lure security forces away from the Minister. The two explosive devices planted were safely disarmed after the attack and remotely detonated. Police have refused to comment on their explosive yield.
While OMON forces dispatched to the Minister were able to evacuate many of the civilians inside, the minister was injured when her security escort was attacked en route to the roof helepad. The Minister was able to escape during the ensuing fire fight and is currently in hospital undergoing medical treatment. Doctors report her condition is good and believe she will be discharged within the next few days.
It is reported Lady Vyera was able to successfully stall the terrorists, allowing the Artemis Heavy Assault Mech to reach the building, forcing the group to escape. However, she has not discussed the matter, and, during a public memorial service, placed all credit on the OMON forces present, stating that their actions prevented many more lives, including her own, from being lost. Inside sources have revealed that that Lady Vyera has made a substantial undisclosed donation to the Saint Petersburg Police Widows and Orphans fund; however, she has refused to publically comment on the matter.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has not yet released any information about the identity of the terrorists, stating only that the group responsible was “known” and that they would do all they could to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice, They have called upon anyone with information about the group to come forward.
This attack has sparked new criticism regarding the police force and military’s inability to cope with the threat of serious metahuman acts. New funding has been proposed to develop better ways to respond to, and neutralise super-powered beings. “The Artemis Heavy Unit, saved the day here, but it was pure luck there happened to be one close enough to respond” Said a spokesperson for Ministry of Defence. “There only a handful of [units] in existence and they are so prohibitively expensive to manufacture and there is no conceivable way we would ever be able to field enough to have any meaningful effect against a super powered attack […] what we need are better and cheaper anti-super weapons.” -

Extract from Lady Vyera’s speech during a memorial service for the OMEN service personnel who died during the metahuman attack on Saint Petersburg.
“They were outmatched and outgunned, facing an enemy that could punch apart an armoured truck in a few blows and who could shrug off a tank shell. They could have run or fled. They could have crumpled under the insurmountable onslaught. No-one would have considered them weak for doing so.
But they did not.
They did not halt or waver for a moment. They continued to push forward even as their comrades were being cut down around them. They did their duty. They willingly scarified their lives so we might live today.
These were ordinary men and women, ordinary people with wives and husbands, sons and daughters. They did not have super strength, or indestructible bodies, but today, their actions have shown that they were far greater than the super-powered monsters that brought about this atrocity will ever be.
Were it not for those brave servicemen and women that laid down their lives here, I would not be alive today. The Minister would not be alive today. Countess others would not be alive today. They bought precious minutes with their lives, and paid for every inch of ground given in blood. Their actions, their sacrifice, prevented this senseless tragedy from becoming an unprecedented massacre. For that, I owe a debt I do not think I will ever truly be able to repay. I don’t think any of us will. But we can try.”
