Difference between SR and Ninja

Okay, I know this one has probably been answered five million ways to Sunday, but you stalkers and your sneaky sneaky..oh you can't see me...POKE your dead ways..

I am new to stalkers, love the electric fell in love with it on my brutes, tanks, and scrappers and thought well lets get it on a stalker as well.

But I am torn between SR and Ninja..so in the opinion of everyone which one works better..or worse..power synergy ...I am not looking for builds just a feel or flavor of how the different powers work together or don't

first off I'm going to recommend Ninjitsu as it's the only power set designed specifically for Stalkers.

Now moving on to a more direct comparison

SR advantages:

Easier to softcap.
Defense Debuff Resistance
Quickness (perma 20% +recharge)
Scaling damage resistance as you take damage(Honestly doesn't matter to a Stalker but is technically an advantage of the set.)

SR disadvantages
Lacks Confuse and Fear protection
Lacks a self heal
Lack of AoE defense until late game(somewhat mitigated by Hide)
Requires 8 powers to get most of the benefits (Elude being the optional power)

Nin advantages:
Self Heal
Gets defense to all positions early
Caltrops and Blinding Powder add tons of extra mitigation
Smoke Bomb can work as an emergency escape

Nin disadvantages:
Lacks Knockback protection
Lacks Defense Debuff Resistance

that's all i can think of off the top of my head there might be more.

Easily fixed by slotting the Karma KB Protection IO into the default slot in Hide.

It's the end. But the moment has been prepared for ...

Nin doesn't lack defense debuff resistance, it just has less of it, and some of it is in its tier 9: Kuji-in Retsu.

Also for SR because its missing the lucky power you will not be able to get the full defense debuff resistance and scaling resists (not that scaling resists would matter much with low stalker hps) that scrappers/brutes get. Which to me would the only reason to choose the set over Ninjutsu but since you do not get the full effect its not worth it. Just roll ninjutsu. So much win there that its going to explode.

Wrong. SR has Confuse protection.

Nin's click defenses belong in the con list too because when you spend time clicking things like Caltrops and Blinding Powder, you are losing DPS. You'll get better overall DPS with SR as it doesn't require clicking outside of Practiced Brawler and the 20% Recharge bonus helps out with casting attacks and recharging Buildup powers more quickly. Not to mention it resists Recharge Slows, too. So add to the SR pro list:

Slow Resist
Better DPS

It's nice to have a tough choice between two great things isn't it?

Having played both (but not Elec yet), my own generalized description of play for each one goes something like this:

SR: nyah nyah, can't touch me! Time to just click my attacks, too bad for you poor fools! However, it starts slow at the lower levels.

Nin: I can heal up pretty easily and oh so many useful toys! It's fun from the get-go and just gets more-so as the new toys come rolling in.

I've enjoyed them both, neither one will steer you wrong, unless there's something about Elec I don't know that makes one or the other terrible choices. Is Elec tough on End? I found SR was, until I slotted myself well to help with recovery. Then again I was running an Energy Melee which is already tough on End.

That's a massive reach. It's not required that you use Caltrops or Blinding powder for your defense, they're just extra mitigation options on top of it. Caltrops also actually has pretty good dpa if you use it against an AV or EB or something like that.

Edit: I didn't notice the OP was going Electric melee. Check the guide in my sig, because electric and nin have a very special synergy.
