I feel like saying everytime my brute(lvl 26) armed with her Rularuu mace and shield walks into a mish "I've come here to chew bubblegum and kick @$$ and I’m all out of bubblegum" I dont see alot of mace brutes out there which is a shame!

Also i have to give props to anyone that unlocks the Rularuu gear espically on a very low lvl toon...i unlocked the broadsword on a scrapper at lvl 4...rough to do...glad i have some great in-game friends!!

I'd guess that Elec/EA and Stone/SR are pretty uncommon.

I hove a midlevel SM/SR brute and I feel pretty unique too. Both SM and SR seem pretty underplayed, at least to my eyes, but SM especially seems like it should attract more people. Maybe they don't like the screen shaking?

Yeah I haven't seen too many elec/ela brutes besides my brothers and definity haven't seen a stone/sr brute on champion server. Uniques indeed!

I have a lvl 50 DB/Dark. I've never seen another one. He's my LGTF specialist, just kinda seems unkillable on it (except hami of course.)

He needs a respec though. I need to build him for S/L defense now that he has T3 cardiac and no longer needs total focus on recovery/end redux.

I've been playing an EM/Invul brute lately. I know for a few years now EM has been the target for a lot of hate on the forums due to it's long animations and lack of AoE... but personally I like the animations.. in my opinion, nothing is more brutish then winding up for a 2-hand smash with my GIANT MECHANICAL ARMS! And since I'm playing almost exclusively solo these days I don't care much about AoE.

Anyway, in terms of uniquness, I feel like I've seen more other monkey toons then other EM brutes.

I gotta make pain. I gotta make things right. I gotta stop what's comin'. 'Least I gotta try.

SM is an excellent set. I think the reason it isn't more popular is because it is on the extreme end for endurance costs and because most of the game is heavily dominated by AoE damage (I also think most people don't realize just how high the overall DPA of the ST attacks are)

So you can give up the better soft control of SM, and get a much better PAoE by going Super Strength, which is right down the street when it comes to getting your rage fueled screen-shaking, smash-fix going.

If SM had more generic GFX and animations (I like the screen shaking, but the whole stone thing and mallets out of thin air doesn't do it for me), I probably wouldn't play any other powerset. As it is... I don't have a single SM character right now.

Edit: now that I think about it it's really just the mallets. If mallets had an alternate punching animation in the same style of stone fist or seismic smash, I'd play the heck out of Stone Melee.

I tried a SM/FA a long time ago, shelved for one reason or another. Tried SM/DA around the same time. Impossible Endurance Management was Impossible. Might be a good combo now with iFitness and Cardiac.

This thread kinda makes me want to go back to the sm/fa one though - even had a fun silly concept for him. At one point I considered reversing it and going FM/SA. Definitely have not seen that combo around.

Yeah, the mallets make it pretty difficult for me as well.

At least the Lava/Crystal palettes are more appealing than the poo-hammers.

Got an Elec/nrg brute too, Lenina. She was actually my first toon that survived till her 20s, and she is now very grateful to the Ion Judgement because it totally fit her concept.

Unkillable on ITF?! How did you manage that?

I find people don't pair like for like too often. With the nerfbat to Total Focus plus the prospect of Pom Poms, NRG/NRG might be unique enough.

He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. Elec/Fire is fun, don't know if it's unique or popular though. It's like the on-the-edge opposite of a SS/Shield.

Also, Dark/Fire is great!

..I like Fiery Aura.

KM/FA gets nicer as time goes on. I don't see many Kin melee sets really, but I really love the synergy between the two. I need to get off my behind and move him to blueside.

I haven't seen too many Dual Blades/Electric Armor. Have had mine, and loved mine, since the first day of i11.

Stone/Fire Brutes with the Earth APP. Lots of Stun, Burn, and ST Damage. Fury is easier to keep high than you would think due to Blazing Aura. You're a walking volcano.

Dark/Fire is going to be FotM soon, I bet, because people have realized that having double heals and double PBAoE Endurance Recovery powers along with Burn, Blazing Aura, and Fiery Embrace just might be nice. Note that you also will have Soul Drain and very nice ST damage. It's a good solo Brute, and if you slot it for defense and recharge then it becomes a monster, especially after getting an AoE from the Epic/Patron pools to add to the mayhem.

Maybe a KM/WP Brute? You'll have a good all-around Brute that way. I thought hard about rolling one.

Too many alts to list.

Some of my less common brute combos:

Mace/SR (never seen another one): Sitting at 41
En/DA : the slightly unique/rare angle on this one is that I am going for a CoF build. Sitting at 36.
KM/EA : This seems like a fairly synergistic combo to me, but I haven't seen any others yet. Sitting at 36ish.
En/Stone: /stone is pretty common, but I hardly ever seen energy/ brutes these days. She's been parked at 40 for a long time.

I'm surprised that I don't see more of these around, mine is on hold somewhere in the early 30s. The combos above are pretty spot on, lets you treat consume as a +end power and DC as an attack (which, pumped with fury and soul drain, isn't half bad. I'd expect FE to make it decent).

How are Energy/Shield Brutes? I made one to try out. Was thinking the Praetorian PPD were Energy based. Plus I was inspired by Warrant and thought of using a Shield with him after I got the Vanguard stuff.

My gut reaction is that no one will be able to answer you due to a lack of many people playing this combo.

I tried it, but that concept got deleted before level 20. I know I didn't give it a chance to shine, but I really couldn't see much good coming from it. You'd get some very impressive single target damage and super reliable single target stuns. Shield Charge is not enough AoE to fill in the gaps of Energy, though.

I mean, I've seen one in action at level 50 and it was played very well. The player didn't use ET, though, and he said the reason was at high difficulty you can't afford to counter your own regeneration with it. As an energy/shield, the only heal you have is your own regen.

The next level 1 I create will be a KM/EA brute. When that happens, I have no idea, could be months. Still, at this point, those are the last 2 powersets I don't have at 50, so I have to pair them together.
